Doctors on Long Island
I would think that it would be what your insurance wants more so then the Doctor. I know most now want notes from a 6/mo Doctor Diet.

Doctors on Long Island
The one that had the bypass had it in his head that he wanted that one before he ever went to see the doctor. They tried to talk to him about the band but he didn't want to hear it. He is doing well and is losing but he was in the hospital for 6 days and out of work for 30. Everyone is doing well and losing at a good clip. for me the band was the right choice. I have my sig ticker set to where i was when i started the pre op. To me that is the start of the whole processes. I lost 32 with the pre op and 8 since last friday so I'm more then happy with that as a start. I also am back to work today, I only needed to take a week off.

NYC Docs? Anyone used Dr. Roslin?
I was banded by Dr. Fielding on 1/25. I worked with his team for almost a year before i got approved. They are great and my overnight stay at NYU was second to none. The office is busy but then again (IMO) they are some of the best in the world at this.

I'm Home
Congrats and Welcome home. Glad to hear everything went well. It's true what they say, each day is better. I'm on day 4 now and i'm starting to feel really good. Get some rest the next two days and you will be back to your old self.

Hospital Experience(s)
I stayed overnight and i was glad i did. The staff at NYU are great. I had a little more pain then i thought i would but they took care of that with pain meds. I also have bad disk in my neck and back so staying in bed for hours at a time hurts on it own. They has a chair there fit for a king that i wish i could put in from of my big screen and watch the SB in. I only had to ask once and with in 15min they had it setup so i could go from the bed to the chair as much as i wanted and that was in recovery. When i went up to a room they made sure i have the same setup there before they sent me up. I felt much better the next day and was ready to go at 9:30.

Aetna POS II
They need more then just BMI. I had a BMI over 50 and over 45 for more then 5 years. Still no good. You have to do the 6/mo Doctor diet. If you didn't start it yet you should soon. I had a number of things other then BMI (Sleep Ap, Bad disk in my neck & Back) but they wouldn't move until i got done with the 6/mo and it had to be 6 in a row. I changed at the last minute and went with United but i tried with Aetna POS II for almost a year.

Ok, So Im Not Doing So Good Today!
I have been drinking thinned out shakes with skim milk since the day after and have had no problem. I didn't put anything in it. Not sure if that would do it.

Tomorrow's my big day
Good luck to you both!! It will pay off before you know it..

Thursday the 24th

I'm going to take a short walk today and rest for a lot of the day. Going back to work Thursday or Friday so i want to be ready for that.

Having MAJOR reservations
Amber, i felt the same way.. Even when i was walking into the OR i asked them to give me something fast to help because I was freaking out. The other post is right, The ONLY thing that stopped me from backing out was the back pain and neck pain that i was dealing with. I'm now very happy i didn't back out and you will be to. The other thing that kept me going was the thought that it's only a 45min to an hour that you will be under. hang in there and just remember why you started this in the first place. Good luck

Doctors on Long Island
I'm also from Long Island but took the trip into the city for NYU. I was just banded but I have two family members that had the band @ NYU and one that had the Bypass. All are doing fine and there office is very busy but the doctors know there stuff and the hospital was great with me. I would say that if you don't mind the trip to the city then check out NYU. You will be in good hands.

getting banded on 1/28 and scared
I was banded on the 25th and came home today. I was the same way. driving to the hospital i was thinking "i can't do this". I had myself so freaked out that the doctor took one look at me when he walked in the room before hand and knew i was scared as hell. Don't ask me why.. I had my knee rebuilt 3 years ago and was fine. Anyway, it went fine and my head that was killing me for 3 days before is now fine. everything that everyone posted on here was to the tee. You will be fine. Hang in there.

Thursday the 24th
Well I made it... Dr. Fielding @ NYU did my surgery friday morning and I got home this afternoon. I did need the pain meds but that took care of most of the pain. I can tell each day will be better. I'm glad I made it and look forward to what's to come.. I'll post more about what everything in a few days...

Thursday the 24th
This was my 3rd shot.. Aetna turned me down in Aug 07 and Oct 07 because they didn't like the Doctors note about the diet. Picked up United the first of the year and the approved me. It's been almost a year since i started this so I'm glad it's almost here. One has bump in the road. I may get bumped to Friday morning from Thursday afternoon. thats no big deal as long at it gets done and all goes well... Dr. Ren is great. She did a family members band and the have been doing great.

Thursday the 24th

Aetna POS II
I had Aetna POS II and have been turned down 2x by them. I have a BMI around 54 and have had it for over 5 year. I also have 3 slip disk in my neck and two in my back as well as sleep app. They wanted the 6/mo requirement so i did that(got done this Dec) and they said it would still take up to 6-8weeks for them to review it. So i dropped them and took my wifes plan (United) as of the first of the year. Everything has been sent to them and I have a date of 1/24 for the band. I have been on the pre-op diet for 6days now and i hope it's a go. Unlike the first two times my doctors office said they don't think i will have any problem. Sorry if I put a dim lite on Aetna, But they gave me a hard time from the start. Just hang in there

Aetna PPO
Also I to add that I had my ACL replaced and have leg pain due to the neck.
