The surgery is a "tool", you still have to eat the right foods. I was sooo ready for the surgery that pre-op was just something I had to do and never thought of cheating. Make sure you are really ready for this, it is life changing and food will no longer be your best friend.

Just left my 3 month checkup and I am thrilled. I have lost 55 pounds which is 33 percent of my excess weight. I was also told by my nutritionist that I need to eat more!! For those of you considering vsg go for it. I wish I had done it 2 years ago.

I try to eat or drink some Protein every 2-3 hours. Everyone is different & you will get a lot of different opinions.

I just finished the old waiting game, 6 month supervised diet, this morning. Now that's done everything is being submitted to the insurance company and we start the new waiting game which is the wait for approval. I'm hoping there won't be any issues. The surgeon says I should have no problem. The insurance coordinator checked everything before we started and we've checked off everything we need. It's always in the back of your mind though that this isn't settled until the insurance company sends you that acceptance letter. If everything works out I'm looking at an October 30th surgery date. Fingers crossed

Hi all I was on here the other day, asking about what I needed to do to break my nice 3 week plus stall and it finally happened!
I added a Protein shake on Sunday in the morning for Breakfast and I've lost 4lbs woot woot! Finally gunna hot the high 250s but I'm so happy! 3 months out with deep Water running and some weights, I'm gunna do this! Thanks for letting me share!

I am right there with you, Tabithad. I am getting sleeved and having a hiatal hernia repaired tomorrow.

I felt those same emotions just 2 weeks ago!! I woke up from surgery feeling fine...aside from being sore, I had little pain & no gas!! I was walking 2 hrs after surgery. Went home the next day! I went to my post op 1 week later & had lost 17 lbs ! Try not to worry, you will be fine. I am back to work & feeling great. I pray for a speedy recovery for you & keep us all updated on your progress!! Good Luck!

I'm getting sleeved today! Check in at 930 and op is at 1130. So many mixed emotions right now. I keep telling myself: the will of god will never take you where the grace of god can't protect you. Say a little prayer for me everyone

I'm getting sleeved tomorrow and I can not pinpoint my emotions right now, If I could describe them it would be anxious, excited, nervous, and I feel a bit weak from being on my clear liquid diet for 2 days.
I will keep you posted on my recovery, my heaviest weight was 325. That was 2 weeks ago, and I weighed in at my doctors last week and was down to 318 lbs. I dont own a scale because I was always depressed about my weight, so I dont know what I weight now.

Hello ! I am from So. IL as well! I have heard great things about Herrin! I am getting mine done in St. Louis only because my specialist sent me there!! I would have choosen to have it done closer to home!! When are you getting yours done?? I would love to hear about your progress after your surgery!! I am nervous yet excited to get this done! I am scheduled to have my surgery this Thursday too..I feel the exact same way..nervous at times and the craziest thing is when I talk about the VSG everyone tell me they have never heard of it..weird..but we just have to keep the faith and know that we are doing this to make our lives better.I'm so thankful for this site. We are going to be just fine..I have to keep telling myself and the more I do the better I feel..Now when Thursday comes I hope I can keep this same attitude, and not burst into tears..lol

OMG! That's exactly what I want to do. LOL. I'm almost at the point where I just want it done with.

An ivc filter is a small filter they place in the big blood vessel in your belly to prevent blood clots from your legs moving up to your heart and lungs. Usually they are used in patients with high risk of clotting.

I am having the same emotions. I get sleeved next tuesday. My biggest thing is I cry at the drop of a hat! But we just have to remind ourselves on why we are doing this.

Don't be nervous. I had my sleeve on Wednesday. I was a nervous wreck. It really hit me when I got to the hospital and then again when I went to my Pre op room and then again when they rolled me into the OR. Tell them you need setting for anxiety they will understand and give you something. I remember going into the OR and telling them not to tie my arm down till I was out and then I woke up! Not in a lot of pain and hardly no nausea. Right before they sedate you things get really blurry then you wake up. Just relax! Things will work out! I did have the thought about day three that I made the biggest mistake of my life but things get better. Trust me I just did it and still in my a liquid stage!

Congrats on it going so well !!! You aren't too far from me i am in east tx .. I have my surgery on 10-9 and I am pretty scared about the whole thing.. Reading post like this helps !!

My surgery was not sceduled until tomorrow. My doctor called me last week and was if I could move it up to last Thursday. With my juggling with my job and responsibilities it happened. I truely believe this was GODs way of getting me through the surgery. I had spent the weekend before reading a lot of everyone's post and truth be told had almost talked myself out of surgery.
I went in at 11 am to forest park medical plaza in Dallas Texas. ( The Westin of all hospitals) my husband asked me If I paid for a VIP suite. The place is amazing!
I was bad I was "working " till they rolled me in and knocked my butt out. Three hours later my husband said the surgeon came out saying all went well but he had found a very large hiatal hernia. I also have Barrettes easaphugus. Btw I've had no reflux at all. Popsicles don't cause reflux a guess!
Not gonna lie I was not a happy camper when I woke up the nausea really sucked. I didn't have much pain to even speak of.
I swear if one more person told me to get up and walk heads were gonna roll! Walking does help move the gases. I didn't have a lot of gas pains. I was pooting by the next day ( Friday) they were kinna pushing me to go home but I was self pay and I thought no way I'm staying here. Felt safer. But I soon realized Saturday when I did get home I felt so much better.
I am 51 pretty tuff most of the time. This is not the easy way out so get over any of those negative thoughts. You have to walk this walk. It's all different for everyone. Yesterday I weighed myself I was like WTF 7lbs heavier then the day I went in. I was 197. But today at 530 I'm 196 they pump you with lots and lots of fluids!
Sip sipsip everything is way to sweet for me. I've got to find the right Protein mix advocate vanilla and orange sugar free Jello teaspoon for teaspoon Water and ice. And sip not to bad. Just don't drink a lot of water before or after. It gets messy. I know Tmi!

Anyone who has BCBS have to pay an extra *3000* or any different amount to have * gastric * surgery? That is an additional to what your deductible, co insurance is. I mean surgery is surgery regardless of what kind they all are done do due to some sort of health related issue? Why I ask is I'm thinking of getting in contact with HR seeing if they will still have that when it comes time to renew OR see if they can drop this part. Sounds silly I know but I have seen other BCBS that don't have this *extra*
