VitaleEM got a reaction from SleeveandRNYchica in Gained most of my weight back
I haven't read everything in detail, but I will say that I am one of those that did and do everything right and only ever lost 30-35 pounds since my sleeve gastrectomy. I track my food, etc., etc... My doc says some people are just like that.....
I will say that I eat about 1300 calories a day. I have yet to figure out how to get all my Protein in, along with fruits and veggies for less than that. I want to say healthy as well. And honestly, I get toooooooooo hungry when I eat less than that. It's hard for me to eat 800 calories a day, but even when I was on liquids only at 800 calories a day the weight came off slower than slow. I realized right away that I wasn't losing as much weight as most others in the forums and I became discouraged. I still try every day to eat healthy, take my Vitamins, get in all my Protein, but for me, apparently size 14/16 it is for now. Who knows, maybe someday I'll figure it out and lose more....
I just want to say that I completely understand the struggle and I BELIEVE and understand the dilemma of those who of us who do everything right with minimal results.

My NUT told me to stop counting calories but I feel like I'm eating around 600-900 cals now. She told me to measure my food. She recommends I eat 1/2-3/4 cup of food per meal, 3 times a day. I also get to eat 2 Snacks a day and that can only be about 1/4 cup of food twice a day. It's been hard especially with the head hunger but I've been sticking to her plan and I've lost about 6 pounds this past week.

I'm an every day weigher. I need to know the number. It doesn't make me freak out, but a rise of 4lbs overnight has me wondering what I did the day before. I get the vent and I'm not going to pander with advice that I know you won't follow cause I wouldn't either.
Things I review are-- did I drink all my Water? Did I hit my Protein goal? Did I eat late, or have something carby after 7pm? Did I have anything salty? Did I...........Go? Did I exercise?
If I did everything right and all my answers are satisfactory to me, I shrug it off. It's how our bodies are and if I am going to weigh every day, I get to see this kind of stuff. If I find something that I probably mucked up, let that be a lesson to me to stop or start doing it.
Biggest culprit for me is making sure my bowels move and getting in all of my liquids. Don't stress... review. And if you're TRULY doing everything right, let yourself off the hook, give it a few days and you'll see the scale go back down.
For me, that number is instant feedback on how I lived life the day before. Sometimes it gives me a clue. Sometimes it's just my body being my body. MOST times, there is something I need to pay more attention to, even if it's just a hint that Mother Nature is about to cop a squat.

I have been soooo bad the last couple of weeks. Eating fast food and eating a lot. Still not as bad as I used to be though. So my new year's resolution is to refocus and remember everything I went through to get here.

I bought the roasted chickens in the grocery store and peeled the skin off and then peeled off all the meat. Measured and weighed out two ounces, put in the food processor with chicken broth and/or a bit of olive oil mayo and then seasoned to taste! Delish! I also steamed big batches of cauliflower and made mock mashed potatoes with them. One ounce of the mock mashed potatoes and 2 ounces of chicken was a divine meal!

I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and feel the same way. I've lost 22lbs and of course happy about that, but I sure thought I would have lost more by now...of course Thanksgiving and Christmas didn't help matters!

Part depends on how much you have to lose in the first place and then there are other factors. I only had 80lbs to lose - it will come off slower than someone who has double that. If you are exercising - muscle can be replacing the fat. It looks like no weight loss but you are losing fat! Getting healthier! Besides - an up side ro losing slower - your body has more time to absorb the excess skin! The faster you lose - the greater chance you have for their to be a lot. It all has it's trade offs. You also don't want to lose to fast - for your size and have it be unhealthy. Just work with it! You will do great!

I too have had a few disgusting moments. I just thought that my weight would come off easier than it is. I lost 25 pounds before I even had my surgery on November 14th, but I seem to be struggling to lose the 8 pounds that I lost last month. I've always heard that on a regular diet, for most eople, a 1-2 pound weight loss a week is perfectly normal. But with the sleeve, I feel that 1-2 pounds a week is not enough--especially when I see posts where people lose 60 pounds in 3 months. That's my rant. I just thought it would go faster.....

Starting weight - 280 (probably more but 280 was my highest weight I saw on a scale)
    Date of surgery 10/02/2012 - 260 lbs
Day after surgery 10/03/2012 265 lbs because of the Fluid retention
    Today 01/03/2013 3 months post op - 237 lbs.
My weight loss has been a lot slower than most but I haven't been strict about Water Vitamins etc.
Since the start of January I have been dry focused and committed about my water Protein intake and my vitamins and I see a difference. Ill be back in the gym tomorrow for the first time after surgery (yes I know..it's been 3 months but a lot has happened in those 3 months). I have to keep reminding myself that it's a journey, not a race

I weigh every morning but I do not stress over the number.
I as well lose very slow about 10 lbs a month. But in 4 months I went from sz 22-24 to 12-14. I ran 1 5k in Nov and 2 in Dec.
Look for what u can do know after surgery. Maybe u can Walk without pain, got off the c- pap, tying shoes without huffing and puffing. Able to wipe without any problem.
Bending , standing, exercising.. look at all the positive.
One more thing u didn't gain your wgt in one day so u will not lose it in 1 day.
    Hang in there.

I ended up with some high potency chewable vitamins from trader joes after trying BA and Celebrate chewables. Both made me throw up every single day. The trader joe tabs are good and do not cause me to throw up. They are also 100% in almost everything except Iron, phosphorous and magnesium. I take 2 daily to get 200% of the nutrients.

There is nothing biologically to stop any of us from continuing to lose as long as we want to, but it certainly will get harder. As you get lighter, you basal metabolic rate will slow down, meaning you burn less calories per day. At the same time, your ability to eat increases. Those 2 things acting together will certainly stop weight loss in its tracks. When that happens, smart food choices and exercise will be the thing that saves you and keeps the fat fires burning. At 8 months I'm still losing 10 pounds a month. I can live with that. It's not as good as the 40 I lost in the first month, but that was to be expected.

I did too. I gained three pounds back. I'm sick about it. I've noticed that I'm more hungry now too. I'm so worried about being hungry alot and not being successful. I am tracking and counting every calorie now though. I guess one day at a time

I'm so excited and had to share. I have been in a stall for about 2 weeks now...been teetering over 200 and going INSANE to the point where I was questioning whether the surgery happened and/or if I was the ONE person it wasn't working for....
Well, this morning, I hopped on the scale and I was 199.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been below 200 in over at least 15 years! I actually did a Julie Andrews spin around my apartment (Referring to "the hills are a live...with the sound of music").
