Joined a support group...left 3 days later...
I have found this one to be one of the most supportive as well... one is all I need! Tho I do attend a monthly support group, and have found that to be very helpful for me as well... thanks for the info and good luck to you!

So nervous
My insurance covered almost all of my surgery and pre-op stuff...so that wasn't a factor for me; surgery is scary no matter what it is, and that is probably one of your concerns, even if it's in the back of your head. This is a "tool"...not a diet...a new way of looking at food, as sustenance only... we are addicted to food, so like any other addiction, we have to work on it day by day...one day at a time... but with the tool of WLS, you will find yourself being more successful. I have found that monthly group meetings help me with the "accountability" factor I needed... but you will find what works best for you...good luck... I had the surgery and have not looked back, have not regretted one moment (even tho I'm on a stall now)...

Goodbye 300s!
Great job! I remember when I saw that 299...it was HEAVEN...had to be at least 10 years since I weighed under 300...now on my way to Onderland, which is a longer journey, but still one I expect to travel with my tool and guidance! Good luck!

scared to schedule psychology evaluation!
Yes, I had to do the "test" first and then spoke with her... as long as you are honest (as stated above) you shouldn't have any problem... we have all tried a MILLION "diets" and fads, etc., they just need to get a feel for where your head is at, if you are committed to making this work, and that you are doing it for you... a healthier YOU! Good luck, should be no problem!

I wouldn't mind so much if......
I have been on a similiar path... lost 6oz when I weighed in today...nothing to "write home about".... but a small loss is better than ANY gain!!! That's how I look at it...as long as I am not gaining, I am doing well... think back on other programs you were on... did you follow the guidelines, how fast did you lose weight...not like this, I'm sure...now along with losing, we are learning the art of maintaining as well... every week that you don't go up, is a good week!!! You are doing well, do not get discouraged...just carry on!

Surviving when life sucks
prayers and good vibes coming your way... to lose someone you love is tragic....to lose them so suddenly, like that, must be unbearable... it sounds like you are working thru it well... (((HUGS)))

Low fat versus low sugar
absolutely... I noticed that neither took that option on their challenge

Did you keep it a secret?
My sister had a RnY about 10 years ago (she said if the sleeve was available she SOOO would have gone that route); and she only told one of my sisters...no one knew...but she's private like that... because of that I had no problem telling anyone, I live thousands of miles from my family now, so they wouldn't have found out, but I wanted to share my journey with them... they have a good understanding of the benefits of the surgery, as do most of my friends (as they know my sis) ... it's been good... if someone asks, I tell them... at this point I don't care... I'm no longer "fat and happy"... just happy (and maybe a bit chubby)...

hiccups everytime I eat or drink anything
I had that in the beginning, however it does go away (usually). I would hiccup when I ate too fast or too much... it would be a sign-for me- that I may dump what I just ate...

Low fat versus low sugar
fascinating. However, one month isn't enough time for a true test, imo

Family and Recovery
I would have loved for my mom to have been there...but that is never to be... but my (now) husband was and he was wonderful... he works at night, so he was there during the day when I needed him most to run errands; like getting meds, food, etc., and he'd get back home as I was falling asleep... I don't remember being "short" with him at any time, but I may have been... overall I was tired more than anything, and just knowing that someone was there "just in case" really does make you feel better... as long as she understands not to be "in your face" about stuff, it's all good ... you know your relationship best... it sounds like it would be a very good thing for her to be there for you, it is surgery after all!

insurance drop down 6mnths to 4 :-)
Insurance is changing... now "morbid obesity" is actually a diagnosis code drs may use for their patients; therefore WLS becoming easier for members to obtain because of that and nothing else (in other words, I didn't have a heart condition or diabetes etc...)... good luck, it will be here before you know it!

Im scared
what are you afraid of? drinking Water is GOOD...seems like you are doing well there. The hunger you are experiencing may be "head hunger"...i.e. it's all in your head; you have what you can eat, you will probably find eating much more will cause you to "dump"... try a hot cup of decaf tea to help you get thru the hunger... slow sips of a hot beverage can be very satisfying... good luck, sounds like you on track and doing well...

Changing ins. Want to have sleeve.
I have BCBS as well, and it was about 3 months from beginning to end to complete everything... but as stated, it went rather quickly...best thing EVER...

Who to talk to regarding insurance
Your doctors office should update you; however if you call the insurance company you can tell them you are checking on an authorization and they should give you to the right department... also you may want to get a case manager to help with all this...

Few choices for protein shakes for pre-op liquid diet?
I used the Slim Fast pre-made stuff, low carb...it was good and filling... my dr gave me options based on the protein grams and carbs... even tho the book I got mentioned several brands that they recommend

My 600 pound life
I finally got to see the Penny episode...and like all of you, were STUNNED... a year and not one pound lost and blamed every one... the dr sends her a physical therapist and a nutritionist and still she doesn't get it... no one can help her if she chooses not to help herself. Chucks story was much more inspiring...that growth on his leg...25 pounds just on it's own! Just getting rid of that had to help him IMMENSELY... I'm glad he looks like he has turned his life around and is helping around the house, etc...

been rethinking the whole "full disclosure" topic - singles out there?
I am recently "unsingle"...but I'd say, when the time is right, you will know and then you can tell what you are comfortable with...imo

Surgery in 6 days! Help me with my post-op grocery list!
make sure you have a pillow for your tummy at home...it makes it easier if you have to cough and stuff...holding the pillow keeps you "in tact"... you are going to be on liquids, Protein shakes, some low sodium chicken broth, yogurt (no fruit), decaf tea or coffee, yeah, the hospital is not a good place to rest (lol)...but they pump you full of meds, so that will help Good luck and congrats!
-
Ate chicken noodle at 3 weeks
Noodles are carbs...so really not a good idea... try a low sodium chicken broth with an egg drop in it...or get unjury soup
-
lying to myself...........
