Joined a support group...left 3 days later...

Recommended Posts

Oh my word! I joined a VSG group on Facebook the other day and I just left it. Good grief-- the petty arguing and immaturity there was TRAGIC. I am SO glad for this bunch of forums-- have been hanging around here for a few weeks and everyone has been polite and decent to each other. YAY. So, I think I will make this set of boards my main source of online support and I will be steering clear of the FB groups from here on out!

That is SAD!! This journey is hard enough without adding that type of "stuff"!

Well, I had to remind myself that for many overweight folks, emotional issues are part and parcel of the problem, so the fact that there was rampant evidence of emotional disregulation and poor coping skills probably should not have surprised me. Oh dear-- that came out more condescending than I intended.... not sure how to say it any other way. Still I am glad for this forum. :)

I have found this one to be one of the most supportive as well... one is all I need! Tho I do attend a monthly support group, and have found that to be very helpful for me as well... thanks for the info and good luck to you! :)

We have different experiences with the sleeve surgery as far as recovery from the surgery, different paces of tolerating food the first month, etc. etc. we should respect all different views. But to actually demean, argue or get angry on a support site is totally uncalled for. It is not who knows more, who knows best.. It is our personal journey. I appreciate this website cause I witness compassion, sharing of personal struggles and triumphs, providing guidance to the newbies, etc. Tate 777, I am glad u found this website supportive. We can all be reminded that this website is not just about us..but for the good of the people who suffered most of their lives with a disease called obesity. Tate 777 welcome to bariatric pal". Let's leave all our egos away from this site.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
