  1. I was sleeved on a Friday and went back to work the next Wednesday. I was tired by the end of the day but like you, I never had any pain or nausea. I did make sure to have water at all times and I think that was the secret to my success. Oh, by the way, I'm 56 years old!

    Crazy Lortab Dreams

Uggh! I hate those Lortab dreams! Thankfully I only had to take it twice in the hospital and once the morning I left the hospital (I had a six hour drive home). My pain was so minimal I didn't have to have any once I got home and only took liquid Tylenol once when I get home. My surgery was so non-eventful and painless.

    1 Month Post Op

    You look so cute. Congratulations!
  8. I noticed myself snapping at people at work my third week out. Since I've been able to chew and eat something besides those stupid shakes my mood has improved considerably!
  9. I paid $9700 right here in the US with a fantastic, skilled surgeon in the nicest hospital I had ever seen! My cost included 2 nights in the hospital and all the surgical costs. I have had absolutely no problems and went back to work on Wednesday after my surgery on Friday. I think I received excellent care. Oh, by the way, I had mine done in Dallas with Dr. Dirk Rodriguez.
  10. This may be too much information, but I've noticed that my BMs are considerably smellier than they were pre-surgery, not that it ever smelled like roses. Is this due to the surgery, or is it because of all the protein I'm taking in?

    Before And So Far :)

    Wow! You look great! Congratulations!
  12. I loved Campbells bean and bacon soup blended in my Magic Bullet. I felt like I was really eating!
  13. You look great! Congratulations on your big loss!
  14. My weight on day of surgery 9-21-12 - 293.6, today I weighed 272.2. Down 21.4 pounds!
  15. LizTex, I believe God definitely had his hand in my decision to have this surgery. When I started thinking about it, I also started praying about it, and I can say honestly without question that every single thing fell into place, including the timing, the financial aspect, and also the fact that my kids' schedules were open for my surgery date and they were able to go with me (I had to drive 6 hours to Dallas for mine). I also sought the prayers of my close friends and family, and when I was rolled into surgery I felt absolutely protected and sure of my decision. I had my surgery on the 21st (at 56 years old), and I have had no issues at all. I've had no pain, and went back to work full time on Wednesday after my surgery on Friday. So, for me...FAITH MATTERS!!

    4 Month Update...

You look great! Congratulations on your weight loss. The pictures don't lie!!
  17. You should check out Dr. Dirk Rodriguez in Dallas. He did mine on September 21st and I am doing great! Down 18 pounds already! I don't know what it costs to get it done in Mexico, but my insurance did not cover bariatric surgery so I paid out of pocket. I bet he's comparable to Mexico. His prices are listed right on his website. The hospital was nicer than our hotel and the nursing staff was wonderful. I have had absolutely no complications and Dr. Dirk called me personally when I got home to make sure I made the trip home ok. When I have any questions I just pick up the phone and call and he and his staff are readily available. I highly recommend him to anyone considering the sleeve!

I'm out a week. By the third day, I was ready to have something in my new little stomach. Try Muscle Milk Light, it saved me.

    Banding Before Vsg?

My boss had the lap band about three months ago. He initially lost 15 pounds, but was vomiting all the time. He is very busy and hasn't had time to go back and get his port filled, so now he has gained back all that 15 pounds plus some. He said he wanted to be able to "redo" his band. I don't want to "redo" this, it's a lifetime commitment for me!
  20. You look great! Congratulations!
  21. Just a quick question - I was sleeved last Friday 9-21-12 and am doing really great. I was back at work yesterday. Just wondering though, is it possible to get in too much protein? I'm getting more than 65 grams a day, sometimes up to 90. I am getting all my liquids in too. Actually I'm feeling great. I was curious about the protein.
  22. Good luck to you! I'm one week on the other side and it has been fine! You can do anything for a week!

    The Point Of No Return

I had my sleeve last Friday, exactly one week ago. I was nervous too, I had never been under any kind of anesthesia. I just thought of the harm I was doing my body by carrying all this weight when I thought of the risks of surgery, and like someone else said earlier, the complications rate is so low that I thought my odds were better with the surgery. The first two days were the hardest for me, but even at that they were not that hard. Learning to take the small sips was key, and make sure you find a protein drink you like pre-op. I did not and should have! After the third day I was feeling somewhat normal, and even returned to work on Wednesday! Getting back in the routine was just what I needed. Today has been the best day so far, and I feel better every single day. My surgery has not been painful. I've felt much much worse when I had the flu or even a bad cold! And, by the way, I am 56 years old, geriatric almost compared to some of the others here. Good luck to you and I hope everything goes well!

    Too Much Protein?

I'm having an Isopure protein powder shake for breakfast, a muscle milk light snack around 10:30, Unjury chicken flavored protein at lunch, another muscle milk around 3:00, and thinned down tomato soup with Unjury unflavored protein for dinner, and another Isopure protein shake before bed. I'm sipping my water (sometimes with crystal light) throughout the day. I've also had decaf iced tea and it is very good.
