IrishEyes reacted to Arcyne in September Was Your Progress?
Hi sleeved on Sept 13th, highest preop weight 381lbs on March 2012
Weight on surgery date, 315lbs
Weight on October 16th, 283lbs
So from March I have almost lost 100lbs and around 32lbs since my surgery date. Looking forward to getting closer to the 200lbs zone although I would be happy enough if I stayed right around that area.

IrishEyes got a reaction from sunsetblvd68 in Almost 4 Weeks Post Op
Hey sleeve sister!! I started out with liquid multi complete from Walgreens (Walgreens brand) and once I could do chewables I switched. I really, really don't like the chewables at all. I kinda gag on them. I found myself going back to the liquid. It doesn't taste bad if you keep it chilled. I use chewables in AM and liquid at night until I run out of chewables. Then pretty sure I am going to use liquid all the time. It's just so easy to get in. And I need easy.

IrishEyes reacted to doxieville in Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
This surgery was originally created to remove parts of stomachs destroyed by ulcers or cancers. Then it was discovered that it also helped with weight loss. So historically it didn't even start as WLS.
I just thought I'd add a history lesson on here. :-)
My vote is still out on judging the OP. I think it is too major an operation to have as a preventive surgery unless obesity or medical history is an issue. It scares me to think that this is the new future so people can stay 'beautiful' and skinny.
So, I am looking forward to hopefully hearing the OP's story.

IrishEyes reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?
Let me preface this by saying that I have 1 true friend that has been there for me right or wrong & through thick an thin. The people I am talking about here are our more casual "friends".
I am finding that since my lifestyle has changed so dramatically that the people I use to hang out with aren't so appealing anymore. I am not interested in being one of the first people to review the new resturant. And when I talk about wanting to go rock climbing they look at me like I have 2 heads.
Finding new friends that have similar interests is my newest venture. I'm not trying to get rid of my old friends, but, let's be honest. I really don't have much in common with them any more.
I want so much more out of life now. I simply cand afford to to spend a lot of time with people whose high point for the week is a pizza and a 12pack. I'm not canceling them as friends, but I really do want/need more.
Has anybody else found this to be true?

Please call your doctor. I'm not implying you have a serious problem, but not one of us can tell you for sure what is wrong. You need to get to someone who can.

IrishEyes got a reaction from Yael770 in Hiatal Hernia Repair Along With Vsg
I had mine repaired during surgery as well and didn't know about it until they told me. I have had no feeling of pain or anything in that area. Zero impact on my recovery. I am glad he had to do it. I had been having pretty bad heartburn for a few years and read on this site how so many people have increased heartburn after surgery, which I was dreading. But because the hernia was repaired I no longer have ANY heartburn. That's really something to look forward to, if you have heartburn.

IrishEyes reacted to chris54 in Which Way Do I Go? Sleeve Or Bypass
If u r willing to stay the same maybe u should rethink this decision. We all loved our sweets, drinks but loving those things got us right here. I don't know about anyone else as for me,the old person with bad eating habits is going to stay in the OR, anew person will be rolling into recovery. Lol Really is a piece of cake or drink worth your health? If so continue as u are. I don't mean to sound mean, but this weight has cheated us. Your taste buds are going to change, the food u loved prior to surgery u may not want anyway. Good luck, but think hard the new person inside of u full of life energy is counting on u.

IrishEyes got a reaction from simply.torri in Which Way Do I Go? Sleeve Or Bypass
Malabsorbtion was one deciding factor why I chose sleeve. And didn't like the idea of reconnecting my plumbing. More chance of complication, in my opinion. And I have to say I think about the options I had now that I am postop and 100% glad I made this choice practically every day.
Good you guys are doing research and glad posters are adding links for you. Have faith you will make the best choice for you, and all will fall into plave. You'll see. Best wishes!

So I work with kids all day and have always wanted to wear a Halloween costume that was premade to work because everyone else could but I had to always make my own because I couldn't fit. Well no longer my friends.....I know it's such a small thing, but it means the world to me!

IrishEyes reacted to theoldmusicbox in My Uniform Lady Went To Bat For Me Today!
today was an awesome day. My employer provides uniforms for us. I have had to switch sizes 2x since surgery. Our provider charges extra for more than 2 changes a year, so my work generally won't do it. Today, yet again, I asked for new sizes. I started the year at 56" waist, dropped to 50", dropped again to 46", and today, I asked fo 38". (woohoo btw) at first I was told the only way they would make the change would be if I covered the extra charge. However, my uniform lady told them that I was on a wellness program and that I may still need another by the end of the year and that I shouldn't be punished for getting healthy. My employer ate the charge, and congratulated me on my success so far. Banner day!
Btw, I will be 38 next month. When I graduated hs in '93, I wore a 38" waist. How sexy do I feel today! Started at 373, sleeved on June 5, currently a 236! 61 pounds from goal after only 5 months? Holy crap. I love life!
