Kidding. Welcome to the board. The sleeve is going to work. Period. There are some life-long habits to break, but now you will have a tool that works. There are lots of cooking strategies that will help you. I tell everyone to go here:

She is bypass, but her way of cooking is general bariatric friendly and it's good stuff. She was once 5' and 300+ pounds. She is now a knockout.

    Hi everyone,
Let me start off and say I have not had the surgery yet. My first appointment is this week with the surgeon. Of course I'm reading this forum like crazy and something I've read quite a bit is that it is hard to eat all the calories required. Some people say they have more success when they eat a little more but sometimes find it impossible to eat more.
I worry about this too. Isn't staying on 500-600 calories daily just wreaking havoc with our already compromised metabolisms?
Now for the stupid question. Many people supplement with Protein Shakes to make sure they're at least getting that in-- what about trying to eat more things that are higher calorie ( of course in small portions) that give you more bang for the buck to up caloric intake? Am I crazy? It sounds like that would simplify the daily struggle. I'm not looking forward to having to obsess about tiny amounts of this and that and here and there 18 hours a day. What about supplementing with Protein and then try to have something higher calorie as a snack -- say a scoop of ice cream or some chocolate. Then maybe have chicken salad for dinner with real full fat mayo... I'd love to hear individual daily menu examples -- from all different stages.
Ok, that was just me rambling on about things that are zipping around my brain...

Honestly, I don't count calories (and I know I should). I am in the habit of eating what I want, and when I want it, I also work out daily. If I happen to eat ice cream or frozen yougurt or baked whatever, I know I will burn it off the next day. I work out every day for at least 60 min so I know that what ever I eat, I will burn it off during my next workout session. Calories in calories out, bottom line, too easy.

I've read so many posts from people who are discouraged with their weight loss because they're comparing themselves to others on the forum. No, we shouldn't do that, but we ALL do. I'm hoping this will help. Instead of looking at just the number of pounds someone has lost, look at the PERCENTAGE of their original body weight they've lost. For example, someone who weighed 400 pounds and lost 100, has lost 25% of their body weight. Great job! But if another person weighed 260 pounds and loses 65 pounds, they've also lost 25% of their body weight. That's also a great job!
Yes, gender, age, and biochemistry also matter. But hopefully this will help you put things in perspective. I try to remember this when I'm comparing myself to someone else. Continued success to you!

Even if it is not quid pro quo I would surely be happy to donate my skin. It sure would be nice to know that at least something good came out of all my years of misery!

I'm sure there is a good reason that 80% - 90% of the stomach is removed but would it be possible to decide ok, maybe this person would do better long term with only 60-70% removed? It just seems like there would still be great results without be sooo restrictive for a lifetime. Anyone know if this is possible? Can you ask that more stomach be left?
    Thanks!
