  1. Well, I got stomach shots in the hospital for blood clots and I am just walking and monitoring my breathing and body regularly.
  2. My doc said 101 and over is cause for concern. In the hospital I got up to 99.7 and the doc still discharged me.
  3. I can relate, OP. Like Kenny Rogers said, "you got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em'..." I just could not do diet insanity and bounce all over the scale again. It's not good for the body nor my state of mind. Just don't tell anyone you don't feel comfortable telling.
  4. Look, I'm married too and I'm not trying to start anything in your house tonight but I have to question why a husband with an ill wife (because HBP and Diabetes are illnesses) would object to her seeking out a procedure that has a high success rate with curing those illnesses. I'm certain he doesn't live in a vaccuum and has heard all of the statistics about the life expenctancy of those who have illnesses such as yours. Complications from surgery? Maybe. Every surgery has complications. I'll stop there but I'm sure most people can figure out which avenue I'm on....
  5. I wouldn't fake a heart problem to keep someone out of my business. If you really feel like you must say something, say random foolish stuff and make sure you change it everytime someone asks: "I'm having hooves implanted because I'm tired of shoe shopping"....and walk away. "I'm having my nose cut off to spite my face".....and walk away. "I'm having the hair on my knuckles transplanted to my scalp".......and walk away. "I'm having my ears cut off because I'm tired of hearing people ask me questions that are none of their business"...and walk away. "I'm having my fingernails removed because polish is getting too expensive"....and walk away.
  6. Nothing competitive about OP's post. I had mine in the states because I have insurance but I AM the type that will pay more if I feel like the quality is better and sometimes it's info like this that swings the pendulum in one direction or the other. The two things that many people look at when doc shopping are their resume and their recommendations. This is just another addition to Dr. Aceves' resume in my eyes and another recommendation for those who are considering surgery in Mexico or Dr. Aceves.
  7. THANK YOU! OP, you are a grown woman. You don't have to detail, explain, or justify anything to anyone who will not be directly affected by your actions. They ask. You respond, "that's none of your concern." I guarantee that will end the questions because the person you say that to will spread that response around like Hermes with a message from Zeus and nobody will want to approach you with it after that.
  8. You may be able to ask the doctor or the nurse for an abdominal binder. What's working for me is using my upper body strength to kind of push myself up and swing my legs over in one swoop.
  9. This is what I thought as well. I just had my surgery but I am well-versed on forums, especially diet forums and well...they can be a rollercoaster ride. I often wonder what people's motivation is for posting things like this because surely they don't believe all of the replies are going to be positive and nobody can electronically pump your stomach so...what do they think they'll get from these types of posts. I agree with the person who said to think about making that "confession" to your surgeon. My surgeon would have been 10 times more blunt than the most blunt poster in this thread. You should do surgery for yourself but at the end of the day, you are a walking advertisement for your physician as well and I doubt that a surgeon would take the time to consult with you, do your surgery, and then give you guidelines on how to succeed only for you to do something that can not only damage your health but his/her reputation. My first thoughts when I read the OP was that she needs help because if the prospect of doing internal damage to a new surgery site isn't even enough to rein you in, what is? If nothing more than the fear of totally screwing your insides up, something should lend enough pause to course-correct before the behavior at this early stage. OP, you have to understand that with some of the hurdles people go through to even be approved for a surgery like this, people are not going to take kindly to someone who (by what you posted) didn't have to jump through the pre-surgery hoops, got the surgery their first shot out, and is now acting like they didn't have the surgery. I don't think anyone was being mean to you but this is a surgery with a whole trough of emotions behind it for a lot (if not most) people and when you post things like this, I can see where some would see it as a mockery of the gravity of what they've gone through.
  10. I just registered and the auto-message suggested I post here first. Basically, I am 3 days post-op. I refused WLS for a long time and when I finally decided to do it, VSG was my only option because everyone I know with the band has failed and everyone I know who had bypass is either nearly bald or has an eating disorder (my spouse included). I felt that VSG was a way that I can lose weight while maintaining a certain nutrition level to be healthy. Anyway, on May 9th I had my first consultation. I wasn't hopeful because I don't have the typical story that many obese people have. I am a runner. Up until the day before surgery I was still running. I don't have any co-morbidities. I'm just obese because I have a hard time backing away from the food. I told my doctor that if it weren't for running, I'd be way worse off weight-wise. I am fortunate to have insurance that doesn't need a bunch of hoop-jumping. I had my nutrition consult (1), psychological exam (1) and history of the diets I've been on for the last 5 years. My doctor required a sleep study but that's a long, weird story that you can inbox me about if you care. Anyway, by the end of June, my insurance approved me and three days later, the surgeon's scheduler called asking if I wanted to have surgery the next week. Of course, I was totally unprepared for that so I declined and took the 23rd of July (3 days ago). I'm really glad that part went rather seamlessly. I returned home from the hospital yesterday and for now I'm just trying to heal and get used to this new experience. I hope to glean helpful information from you all and maybe I can be of some assistance at some point to the members here.
