    Submitted to Kaiser MAS... Waiting!

Congrats on getting through the process! I know exactly what you mean about the waiting. When I was waiting for the approval from Kaiser, I would log on and check for referrals. Once approved, they automatically set up the referral. Once I saw I had the referral, I made the appointment with the surgeon. I realized I was approved a couple of days before I got the phone call. It sped up the process a little for me....lol. Hope your paper work gets in on the 20th review board!

    Struggling...4 days post-op

Clear Liquids til Tuesday...bummer! Have you tried adding unflavored Protein powder to your clear broth? Or buying Protein drinks that are clear? It would definitely help with the hunger. Good luck with it.

    I've been very naughty.....

Yayyyyy....everything is benign! My thyroid needle biopsy came back benign. So now the only thing left is to have surgery to remove the tumor in my salivary gland. I guess the bright side of surgery is that I'll be out of work for a week which I have enough sick leave to cover the week so I still get paid....lol

    I've been very naughty.....

Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Blash, I'm glad to hear yours is benign and you can focus on getting healthy LipstickLady, now with the sleeve, it'll help you to get healthy...you're about half way there...congrats! Sydney Susan, I hope your liver lesions are benign. I see you're more than half way to your goal. I hope you reach your goal cancer free. I'll check back with you all once I find out if the thyroid nodules are benign or malignant. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for three out of three to be benign (breast, salivary gland, and thyroid)..thyroid is the last one to be tested. I blame all this on turning 50!
  6. I was able to eat everything and anything....just in much much smaller portions. I remember having chili, lentil soup, cheese, and sliced ham in the beginning.

Its just one thing after another!

Sorry to hear your having problems with eating. Maybe it's time to contact your doctor again. How long has it been since your surgery? Maybe you need to stay on liquids or mushy foods longer.

    9 weeks out tomorrow

Congrats! You're doing great! I totally understand about the slowing down with eating. I find that I too eat too fast and take big a bite and swallow before chewing thoroughly. It's a learning curve that we'll eventually get the hang of. Either I've adjusted to the feeling of discomfort or my eating has improved.

    Congrats on the weight loss!
  11. Well, I'm into my 5th month and have slipped from my healthy eating since June. I find that I started pigging out in the evenings again. Not to the same extent as prior to surgery, but enough that I have not lost any weight, but have maintained. There's no excuse, but we all try to come up with some to justify our behavior and I'm no different. So here's my excuse: I wanted to pig out since I was afraid I may have cancer. I told my hubby that it would be a bummer if I developed cancer and can't pig out like I use to prior to surgery. Well, the first cancer scare was after my mammogram. After getting a second mammogram and an ultrasound, it was determined that it was nothing, but they want me to do another mammogram in 6 months just to be sure. Then I find I have this lump in my neck and a CT scan and a needle biopsy had to be done to determine that it was a benign tumor in my salivary glands that I will have surgery to remove it in the next month or so. When the needle biopsy was done, I ended up with an infection and had to take a round of antibiotics. But that isn't all, the CT scan showed that I had multiple thyroid nodules. Since then, I've had an ultrasound done that showed the largest nodule was 1.9 cm. At 1 cm the doctor likes to do a needle biopsy to determine if it's benign or malignant. So now on Thursday, I go for the needle biopsy of my thyroid nodules by the endocrinologist. Now I ask you, would this have knocked you off the healthy eating wagon as it had me? None the less, I am working on getting back on it since I'm thinking more positive that the thyroid nodules will also be benign. What a roller coaster ride these last 2 months!
  12. That sounds yummy! I'm going to try it tomorrow since I have some overly ripe bananas.

    4 Months Out....

Time sure does fly by! I can't believe it's been 4 months since my wls. I didn't lose much this month. Actually I'm surprised that i loss any at all. Why you may ask? It's because I have been very very bad with my diet. I still drink a protein drink everyday and get in my 60-80 grams of protein and 9-12 cups of water each day. Oh, I still get in my 5-6 mile walk each day. It's the slider foods that have gotten me! Well, I've been eating gluten free crackers and multigrain crackers....oh and some candy each day. I know I'm eating more than I should, but what is saving me is the walking (I think). I've also noticed that my stomach has healed quite a bit since I can eat more food at a sitting. I've been having some health issues (lump on neck and have to go back for a second mammogram and ultrasound). It got me thinking that if I got cancer and am going to die then I would be very upset because I cannot pig out on all the foods that I really like. I mean I have been pigging out on some crackers and candy, but I would want to be able to eat like I did prior to wls. Oh well, today I'm feeling better about everything since my husband told me we have the money to take a vacation out to Los Angeles. I really want to go to Australia, but for a family of four, it's just way too much money, especially since I will have 2 kids in college this fall. Anyways, the vacation is motivation for me to get back on track with my healthy eating. I've done a protein shake for breakfast and one for lunch just now and will have a healthy dinner. If I have a snack later, I will eat my Special K protein cereal or my Kashi cereal. I am NOT going to buy anymore crackers or candy...still working on convincing myself . Overall, I'm still very happy that I had wls...it may be a different story if I find out I have cancer. Then on the other hand, I try to think positive and if they have to do a mastectomy on me, I'll tell them to use my stomach fat and give me a tummy tuck at the same time. So maybe I could get rid of all the saggy skin for "free"...lol Hopefully, I've been worrying for nothing. I'll find out on Tuesday when I go for further testing.
