I truly know the feeling...kinda slacked off a bit myself last week (vacation) Didn't do too much and I'm not proud of it... (beginning to not like vacations...sorta lol). I am to blame for letting it take me out my game (no one but me). Heck, I can't even blame it on TOM anymore (she been gone about 3 yrs now).
I really do need to kick it in high gear and maintain.

I hung out Sunday with a friend of mine who was getting rid of some things and donating others to good will.
I told her I needed a rug for my apt. and low & behold she had one for me that she was about to thro out. And not only that, she gave me a CROCK POT, YES! Now I can fix all those recipes I've been seeing here that called for a crock pot.
Friends like my friend (and the ones here), are a gifts from heaven above. I kept saying I was gonna buy a crock pot and the Good Lord said hold on wait a minuet....He provided me with one.

Here's one more, I haven't calculated the nutrition information on, but I can't imagine it would have a lot of carbs. I love this one.

I purchased an elliptical today. I'm excited to set up a workout space in my home. I still can't really eat but I'm determined to fight the thigh droop. Went on a cruise to Mexico last week and worked out a lil everyday. Even played beach volleyball in my swimsuit!!!! Loving this new life.

This was SUCH a great question! Last night I was reading Eating Mindfully: How to end mindless eating & enjoy a balanced relationship with food by Dr Susan Albers. I'm only on chapter three so I can't recommend the book yet - but I shared this because even after four months and 100 pounds lost, I am very aware that I must continue to deal with my food addiction and certainly not think I am home free by any means.
You are right that our tiny tummies are just a tool. My sister had surgery a few years ago and her team told her that those who have surgery get about 18 months to get their &%$# together! (smile) Meaning - now is the time to deal with this and to learn new habits. They told her that those who develop healthy habits with food, exercise, stress management, etc. in those 18 months are likely to make it for the long run! I want to be one of them!!! You do too!!!!
You may notice that you may not crave the same foods you did before your sleeve. I have very little desire for sugar which was always my thing - but instead crave crunchy stuff now. I struggle the most at work and at night - which is really the majority of my day! (grrrrr) I take Breakfast with me, I definitely eat a super healthy lunch, and I grab a skinny starbucks when I want a filler in the afternoon. At night I get my Protein in and then I sometimes nibble on diet popcorn or rice cakes. And I drink as much as possible - Water, diet tea, etc.
You can do this. You've lost weight before and made good choices... it's just now you have a fighting chance to make it long term!!! I will say that I try to be very good to my tummy. I know that sounds weird - but I am so thankful for my surgery and try very hard to eat good things and care for my tummy. So far it's worked. I am amazed at the weight loss - and oh so humbled! I too am single andwork like a dog. You will find the things you need to do to get yourself through the stress. I'm learning to go to a walk - even for 5 minutes. You could jump on here if you need help in a stressful work situation - or when you are feeling down. We are all behind you!!!!!! You can do it!!!!!

I'm an emotional eater too, but I plan all my meals in advance. If I don't, I end up going through a drive-thru and getting something I don't need. The fact that you still have to make the right decisions post-sleeve is hard, but if you plan in advance, it's not that bad. When I'm stressed or tired, I may eat a lot, but it was stuff that I was planning to eat anyway, so the bingeing is not that unhealthy. You may not feel so well, afterwards, but the guilt of messing up is not that bad. I overrate on my calories yesterday, but I messed up with Gouda cheese, broccoli, and hummus. Big change from my double whopper and fries days.

I slacked off so much on exercising last week because of TOM, but my surgeon cleared me to do anything I want, so I have to hit the gym hard this week. I plan to do an hour of cardio 5x this week, and 3 days of resistance training. I hope I stick to my goal.

CoolBreeze got a reaction from Piplula in Shirataki Noodles
You might find this interesting. This is where I got info on the Shirataki Noodle. Yep its got a smell which is the reason you rince them thoroughly.
This is but a fraction of what the link below will give you. I have not tried them - yet- but intend to.
    Hope this helps you.

Shirataki noodles were originally developed in Asia, but they have recently come to the attention of people around the world. Because these noodles are almost totally a beneficial type of Fiber, they have almost no "bad" carbohydrates. There are some indications that they may have other health benefits as well.
    How Shirataki Noodles Are Made:
Shirataki comes from the root of a plant (Amorphophallus Konjac, or a few other closely-related species) grown in various parts of Asia, and given many names in different places, including Konnyaku potato (or just konnyaku), konjac, konjaku, elephant yam (although as far as I can tell, they are not related to any other plant commonly called “yam”), and others. The Fiber is also known as glucomannan.
    Benefits of Shirataki Noodles:
There is some evidence that glucomannan, when tested as a powdered supplement, can play a role in blood sugar control, as well as improve cholesterol control and weight loss (see this report). It also contributes to fiber intake and can be a substitute for starchy noodles.
    Tofu Shirataki Noodles:
Shirataki noodles tend to be a bit “rubbery.” Although this can be somewhat reduced by a short period of boiling, one food developer found that adding tofu to the shirataki produced a “tamer” texture. It also adds a bit of Protein and carbohydrate (1 gram Protein and 3 grams carbohydrate per serving). This product is a little easier to find, at least in my area, than plain shirataki noodles.
    How to Use Them:
<p>Shirataki noodles are great in Asian noodle dishes, but people have used them in lots of other ways. Finalists in a recipe contest used them in Desserts, salads and patties.
    More Recipes:
Pasta With chicken and Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
Quick chicken Alfredo with Shirataki Noodles
Pasta salad with Tomatoes and Basil
    Turkey Tetrazinni

    How They Are Packaged:
Shirataki noodles come "wet" - packed in liquid. They are ready to eat out of the package. I usually just rinse them under hot Water, cut them up a few times with kitchen shears, and add them to the dish I'm cooking.

    like hot food?
    coarse chopped celery
    coarse chopped onion
    coarse chopped green pepper
    minced jalapeno
    minced garlic clove
saute in a lil olive oil or dare I say it... butter (I like to use a touch of both)
once veggies are almost at the softness you desire toss in the shrimp and cook until shrimp are done.
    Serve.
    Enjoy

My husband and I are both sleevers, and we eat a lot of sushi. Since I can't eat regular white or brown rice but CAN tolerate rice paper, we make spring rolls with boiled shrimp, julienne veggies (cucumber, lettuce or cabbage), some cilantro (ESSENTIAL, in my opinion), all wrapped up in the rice paper. It's cool, it's no-cook, it's high Protein, and it's fantastic. We dip into peanut sauce, which is basically Peanut Butter, some chili sauce, and some soy sauce with a squeeze of lime juice, thinned with Water. We LOVE these! For you carb trackers, there are 4 carbs in a piece of rice paper--and I can only eat about half a piece of the rice paper-wrapped spring roll at a time. You may be able to handle more. Enjoy!!

Well went to see primary doctor and had blood drawn for the A1c test. My b/s levels have ranged between 77 & 117. Haven't gone over the 117 mark in about 2 1/2 months. Hopefully that's a good sign.
I am about to go to spend the night in the hospital to find out if I no longer have to share my bed with a mask and a hose....alas
C-pap machine. Gonna be 'wired' so the tech can monitor my every sound (oh joy ). Hopefully I can give them back their machine and wave bye-bye to it as I leave....sorta.
Has anyone else had to do the sleep study to 'officially' be declared sleep Apnea(less)?
Plus, my primary said I only have to take my blood pressure meds for a while longer but not all the rest of those meds. My wallet thanked her a lot.
I asked my doc's assitant if she'd take this for me.

So today I was forced to buy my first pair of new pants. I'm 43 lbs down, and still walking around in my old "skinny pants" that are now falling off me. So I went to Wal-Mart (cause that's how I roll) and found several pair of pants, went to pay for them, and started putting them on the counter. It occured to me that I actually wasn't trying to hide the size when i put them up there. Pre-weight loss, I'd turn the pants over to make sure NOBODY could see what size it was because it was embarrassing. But tonight I was like, YEAH, THATS RIGHT! THOSE ARE 14's BABY....EVERYBODY SEE THAT?? 14's!!! YEP. 14 REGULAR, NOT PLUS> ANYBODY ELSE WANNA SEE?? CAUSE YOU CAN! CAUSE THEY'RE 14'S! Felt dang good.
