Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from asherje in You Know You Were Fat When...
Don't let it get to you. I'm officially at -102 pounds and someone said to me today, "I can really see your weight loss now." Uhm, ok. How do you even respond to that? I've lost the weight that an average 12 year old boy weighs and you're just now noticing???

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from chitowngirl in Worried about long term effects :( ghrelin hormones
stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, losing toes (or worse), kidney failure, loss of eye sight, knee replacements, hips replacements....
I'll take my gamble on loss of ghrelin over all the side effects of being super morbidly obese, having high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and diabetes.

Love it!!! Congrats!!!
Buying "women's clothes" is a hard habit for me to break. I was at a resale shop recently and tried on some LB clothes in a size 18. They fit everywhere except the boobs (you could have put 4 of me in there and still had room). I never realized just how big they cut their clothes in the chest.
So... tried some misses 18 & 20 tops and they fit. OMG!!!! I was wearing a 28W-32W in tops just 6 months ago.
I guess no more LB, Avenue or Catherines for me! woohooo!!!!!

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from vsg30815 in After All This What If It Doesn't Work......in Tears
Remember... you just had all the nerves in your stomach severed! They have to heal in order to feel resistance. That's why it's so important to measure your food and eat slowly at this early stage. Don't risk your suture lines. I promise, you will feel resistance again (and it's hurts like heck!!!).
My sister puked for 6 days after her surgery. I never puked once. We're all different.
Follow the plan... it will work.

My stools were liquid when I was on liquids. I'm just shy of 6 months now and struggle with Constipation. I have become good friends with Miralax.

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from kamrie37 in What Do You Eat?
I try and limit carbs to 40-50 grams a day and I get those from my low fat dairy products, veggies & occasionally a little bit of a whole grain bread product.
today:
breakfast- egg scrambled with turkey sausage & 1 tbsp of potato (I usually use mushrooms but I was out)
lunch- small piece of meatloaf (3 oz) and 1/4 cup green Beans
afternoon- 2 oz cheese & 5 grapes
dinner- (work function that was an appetizer and wine tasting event) 1 baby crab cake (1 inch across), 1 piece of salmon (maybe an oz), 1 deviled egg, 1 piece grilled asparagus, 1 piece of grilled egg plant, 1 brownie bite (don't judge- I wanted the whole dang plate of them). No wine because I don't know my capacity yet.
evening- feeling a bit hungry so I topped off my Protein with 3 oz cooked chicken with some salsa over it. (left overs from yesterday)

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from CBT in Frozen Dinner Survey
Lean Cuisine is the best ones I find. They have about 4-5 different meals that are primarily Protein and a side veggie that is non-starchy. If they do have a starch, I just don't eat it. For the first time in my life a Lean Cuisine more than fills me up!

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from Jessielynn in Exercise Illiterate...help;)
With 3 small kids do you have a Wii or some other video game system? They have zumba and just dance and other exercise that you can do in your home.
I have horrible knees and I started out with Water aerobics @ 1 month post-op, moved to the treadmill & light weights @ 2 months and by 3 months was on the elliptical. Now, I do 25-30 minutes on the elliptical and about 45 minutes lifting weights.

Brush it off and get back on the wagon. You will still have these moments even after surgery (you just can't eat the volume you can now!).

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from kamrie37 in Hair Loss For People With Already Thin Hair
Sometimes (many times) even adequate Protein doesn't prevent it. Our bodies just get shocked from the rapid weight loss and Hair loss is a side effect.

Why would you be eating bread? At this early stage your intake is all about Protein, Protein, protein. You need to protein to prevent loss of lean body mass (muscle) and hair loss. You don't really have room for bread in your diet.
At 4 months post-op, I rarely have a bread-type carb in the form of whole wheat low-carb tortilla (and then can eat less than 1/2). I'm too busy just trying to get in 90-100 grams of carbs a day.
Bread is not an essential part of our diet. I avoid all white things (bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes).

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from Lisa's Hope in I Hate Stalls! :{
I'm a week or so behind you and I'm stuck too. The scale hasn't moved in the past 2 weeks. To top it off, it's been a crazy 2 weeks and I've only been to the gym 3 times in 2 weeks.
Gotta just keep focusing on diet, Water and exercise. I know eventually it will start moving again but right now it stinks!

Will she eat turkey meatballs? I make a batch and then cool them and freeze them. I can eat them and so can my kids.
I cook up ground turkey or ground beef with just basic seasoning and then I can defrost it for a quick meal. I add taco seasoning and we make nachos out of it for the kids and a "taco" salad for me (minus the chips). Or sometimes I use it for a quick shepherd's pie or spaghetti sauce.
grilled chicken tenders on the george forman are another thing I do that's quick and easy. (I grill fish on it too!)
Good luck!

Fiber one (the twigs stuff), pulsed in your food processor with your favorite seasonings is a great FIBER-loaded, but tasty, coating for meats.< /p>

There is a post on here titled "sex, oh my God, sex." Look it up!!!

Robyn Owens-Miille got a reaction from nsdiva82 in "ehhh You Cheater"
I have had several people at work comment on how "easy this is for you" or "it sure is coming off fast." "Aren't you glad you took the easy way?" (my personal favorite)
I just look at them and say, "care to join me at the gym tonight while I sweat my ass off on the elliptical for 30 minutes and then weight lift for another 45? Or how would you like to join me in eating my 3 oz serving of Protein while surrounded by people in the cafeteria who are eating fried corn dogs, onion rings and homemade chocolate cake?"
That usually shuts them up.
