    Hey y'all!
For those wondering about Dr. Taylor I wanted to chime in and say that he performed my sleeve a week ago today! I was nervous because Dr Taylor was basically chosen for me since he was the only surgeon in my network. I have Blue Cross Federal. But once I met him and his staff I was so happy. I really liked everyone so much. Dr. Taylor is pretty high energy and talks really fast! Lol. He has been doing these surgeries for a long time and I know it's only been a week but so far so good! One thing I can tell you is he is based out of The Baton Rouge Clinic, which is not where he operates, but you can see him there, do labs there, etc. But, that's place is BUSY. Sometimes you have to stay on them to hear something. However everyone is nice and helpful! His insurance coordinator Mrs. Martha will help you with any questions you have about insurance. You'll have your choice of using Woman's Hospital or The Baton Rouge General. I went with Woman's because I had my baby there and was very comfortable there. I love their dietician Mrs. Linda Braud, she was sweet AND realistic in our approach to my surgery. Oh and he does ise a co-surgeon so you may have to pay them each a deductible, not sure how that works exactly but i know that I did.
I hope that helps out those who were wondering about him! I'm new to the board but I've been reading a lot and it has helped with so many questions and with knowing I am not alone in any of this!!

I had surgery December 6th, and I am down a total of 20 pounds. I am back on regular food, lots of Protein (shrimp, chicken salad today). Tonight I had cabbage and black-eyed peas....just a TON less than I would have last year! I have felt really great since I came home the day after surgery, just had a problem with fatigue the first two weeks. I kind of wish my doctor had told me to take two weeks off, just for the tiredness factor. I feel like everything has gone better than I could have imagined!

Hi, all, my surgery date was December 10th, but I just got a call from my surgeon's office asking if I can move to the 6th, so that he can do a televised continuing education surgery for webcast! How cool is that? I had a fear about dying during surgery, and this is so ludicrous, but now I feel that there is no way I will die because he will be on camera! LOL

These posts are so helpful to me - I have problems with anxiety already, so I know I tend to imagine the worst. The thought I can't shake is that I might die during/after surgery and leave my family (two kids, 8 and 5, sweet husband). I honestly don't have any fears about anything else, just the dying. UGH. It helps me to see how common these fears are, thanks for sharing!

I had well-controlled type 2 pre-surgery, and about 10 weeks after surgery I was told that I could consider myself in complete remission. A1c has been below 5 since 2 months after surgery. I still test 3x a day and make a calender weelky to make sure I am varying the time of day I test - NEVER over 110, even after waking up....pineapple juice spiked me 12 points from 82 to 94...
no meds, no shots, just testing to play it safe (I HAVE caught a few lows, so I keep my meter relatively near)

Hi there, I have been lurking and reading posts for a couple of weeks, in preparation for making a final decision to have VSG. I am 43, mother of two, working full-time, BMI = 35, pre-diabetic. My current weight is 214, and this has varied up and down about 20 pounds over the past 4 years (since my son was born). My grandmother died from diabetes related complications, my mother is insulin-dependent, and I desperately want to avoid that path. My main reason for considering surgery is for the potential benefit for blood sugar management and insulin control, though I know weight loss will help my health as well. I would be particularly interested in feedback from others who have had diabetes remission following surgery, or how surgery has affected those diagnosed with insulin resistance. I would also welcome feedback on surgeons in Baton Rouge, although I like the one I met with already (Dr. Bellanger). Thanks! Stinker

Hi Stinker, welcome to VST! We are so glad to have you join us here. My grandmother was diabetic and passed from complications as well. When I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic, that is when I decided I need to do something. I want to be around to see my kids get married, have grandkids and all the wonderful things there are to enjoy in life. That is when I made my decision to have weight loss surgery as well, and have never once regretted it. As for my health, I am no longer pre-diabetic and my doctor says I am extremely healthy!
