  1. I think we're sleeve sisters, I love the elliptical and the lap pool. I jog around the laps in the pool when there is no one else there. I find it very hard to eat more than a couple of bites in the morning but by the evening I can usually handle more food. Unlike you, I've had some issues with vomiting although that is getting more rare now too - maybe I'm learning finally! Thanks for sharing, it's nice to know we're all in this together.

  2. I was sleeved in Sept. At first I was just sipping and even that felt strange. I can now take a mouthful of water and swallow without pain but I don't try to guzzle anything. Just take it slow, it gets better but not back to the same as it used to be. Be ready to drink the water over time - while you are working out this summer - not in one gulp afterwards. Be sure to keep drinking, it's very important.

  3. I'm so sorry for the additional complications that you have to deal with. It sounds like you could really use a support system. Does your doc or anyone in your area offer something like that? In my area there is a group of sleevers and By pass patients that meet every month and we also have a facebook page, I hope there is something similar in your area. This forum is extremely supportive too. Good luck!

  4. Congratulations! I was sleeved on Sept 5th, just 4 days before my 52nd birthday. I have noticed collar bones (who knew I had those?) and skinny wrists and fingers (my wedding ring almost falls off now). Even my toes look skinny. I've got a lot of excess skin and fat still on my torso, but even that is going down. Cheers to the best birthday of our lives and the beginning of our new lives!

  5. Congratulations on making this decision. I have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholestrol (and low thyroid) all of which I've been medicated for over the past 15 years. It's time to get it all under control and this surgery can help. This is a great forum and you'll find support and caring people here. Welcome!

  6. I started out slow (with the protein shakes etc not wanting to go down well) but I feel better every day and I've finally gotten all of my protein in today (5 days Post Op). I went to the mall with my daughter this afternoon as a way to walk around. That was fun. It doesn't hurt to walk or move, but I'm still using some pain meds daily in order to keep the liquid intake up.

  7. I have the exact same experience with the swallowing. I feel every sip go all the way down my esophagus and I don't dare take more than a sip because then it hurts all the way down. I wonder how long this lasts!

I don't feel empty inside but I do feel hungry. I even have stomach growls like when your stomach is empty. I can usually ignore them fairly well though.

  8. Congratulations on not giving in to the One Ring! That takes tremendous will power. Crackers are my downfall too. I'm allowed to have bouillion as a "clear" liquid but crackers sure would make it better. Carbs are the hardest to give up. You've done great!
