NORCALRN got a reaction from Frustr8 in Blurred vision
are you taking anything for nausea? scopalamine Patches are nasty regarding vision...mine was blurred and it took several weeks for me to figure it out. i thought that the 7 weeks in the hospital OR my age changed my vision, but it was a medication. just something to think about...keep us posted!

i hear ya. i went from NG to plus PICC to NJ to get strong (7 weeks in hospital) but 31 days with Nasojejunum tube...then another semi perm jejunum tube for about.14 months on off. i pulled out the NG tube cuz it sucked. its easy to do....I am wishing you the best. long road ahead but remember how strong you are and utilize your support system. All self preservation goes out the door after what we have gone through. Plus, I am a nurse so I see both sides now. get better...

not really, even with my ongoing complications. regret is something i do not want to feel. moving on, working on health, I only had 65# to lose and went to Mexico..but that is not why i had such serious issues - so if you or someone is contemplating..go for it. If you have diabetes, high bp, etc, this surgery may save you in so many ways down the road. do your research, feel confident about your choice......it is all up to you!

    please forgive me
i've been keeping a secret from all you wonderful people
    i had a FACE LIFT
    June 25th (5.5 weeks ago!!)
    i was soooo scared
    i thought long and hard
back and forth before making this hard decision
if someone has a bad/looking? experience with a TT that is awful
but no needs to see the appearance of the tummy
if your face gets screwed up - you are stuck
(doctor told me a i would look like he PUNCHED) me in the face (a bunch of times )
would have had to buy a zillion paper bags !!!!
i've always had a "turkey" neck
wanted this surgery for a long time
didn't want to splurge with money
    i thought i wasn't worthy
    please don't yell - that's how i felt
having lost over 100 lbs, i decided the heck with it!!!!
    "i'm worth it"
my PCP suggested a plastic surgeon
i met with him - he seemed good, very nice too
i then saw 2 others plastic surgeons
they seemed fine too (just as good)
since my doc recommended the first surgeon
i decided to go with him
i have a "pretty" good new looking body since my weight loss
i wanted to go all the way and fix my face too
the neck was the MAIN thing i wanted to get fixed
at 61 year YOUNG, i have some wrinkles too
few wrinkles gone would be a plus
told me i would look like he PUNCHED) me in the face (a bunch of times )
lots of black and blue marks
    teeny one under my eye
most coloration was on the sides of my face
    and behind my neck
not as bad as i expected
improving day by day, feeling a little better
didn't go out for about 3.5 weeks
didn't want to scare little kids at the grocery store
the first two days PO were very painful
i always have problems/with side effects from anesthesia
i act a little delusional after recovery room (upset, not knowing where i was)
    yelling, bunch of stuff
hubby said i was talking weird
and i was talking sooo much (what else is new? )
doc said after 3 months of "settling"/face
he could do a "tweek" here or there if we decided
    no extra charge of course
he does a little touch up sometimes
in his office with local anesthisa
don't know if i'll need it
at times i'll use my silly comment
    "i'm cute as a button"
    now guess what
    I'm CUTER than a button
I never regretted having the sleeve (no problems ever )
    now.........
i will never regret having the face lift
    CONGRATS to ME

    Hi Sannah
beautiful children!! I think your original picture had a banana phone - right??!!! I can completely understand when you say that you feel that you should be able to do more, help out, live a better life....I am in and out of bed for days and cannot work much ( RN, BSN). Just had more labs done today. So sick and tired of being tired!!!! Nausea is unrelentless and I finished my antibiotics for the H. Pylori and within 2 days, pain again so they think that was not really the problem although it did help with epigastric pain so maybe the ulcers are better. I just know that something is wrong. I see a therapist like you, and I am grateful for that. I guess I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know that others care and want you to get better!

    oh Sannah
I wish I could make it better for you. My quality of life has been changed forever, too.Work (RN, BSN), money issues depression. I am sure you are familiar with all of it. Your last post made me so sad....I hope you are not alone...you have a child i think? keep reaching out - here, family, friends wherever. I know that I will never be the same physically and will always be monitored for malnutrition I do not want a j tube ever again). Chronic fatigue, not knowing if you are gonna throw up, gastroparesis, cyclic vomiting syndrome...sheesh. BUT, we need to keep going. get up and do what we need to do for ourselves!
So, I am here for you as well as other I am sure. The post from Kathy (proudgrammy) is full of wisdom. you just get through this one minute at at time....take it in, breath and start again.

    oooooops
you did post in the right area, my mistake
i took an extra dummy pill instead of my Vitamins this morning
never had any problems during or after surgery, so i can't really relate to your sad story
i can only imagine the physical and mental pain you've been through
read the complications board (i'm sure you have already been skimming through)
there ARE others who have had similar problems to yours
    or unfortunately have experience problems
    misery loves company
    you said................
"I have lost more than 100lbs, i have lost my life. I have had severely diminished quality of life since the sleeve. Needless to say i am very regretful and would gladly accept all weight back. But I cant go back in time. I am hoping some day to make peace with this all."
I don't like it when people on the board so "freely"/quickly suggest therapy to someone
that being said - in your case i am going to contradict myself
you are wisely already seeking help from others on the board that have similar problems
are you ok to reach into your pocketbook for some money to seek out therapy/help???
maybe your surgeon or reg doc can make a suggestion on where to go to talk
maybe you can ask surgeon if you could get a patients name of someone else who had similar problems
    there are hippa rules
after talking to doc, maybe receptionist could call someone in your position
she could ask that person if he/she would mind talking to you
if that is agreeable to other patient
then the office would give other person your phone # or email
and you can connect/talk on the phone or meet
as you said I "cant go back in time. I am hoping some day to make peace with this all."
this is very important - it might/will take awhile to get to a good place
do you have any family/friends you can just talk to
even if they hadn't had surgery
if they are a true friend/family that are willing to listen to your venting that would probably help you (couldn't hurt)
i'm extremely sorry for all you've been through
you were dealt a bad hand of cards
    terrible!!!
i think you must talk and deal with the past and present before you can move forward into the future
hope things do slowly improve, sooner than later
wishes sent your way towards peace and happiness
    who deserves it more
    Best of Luck

NORCALRN got a reaction from CBT in 3 years out-now with new concerns over old complications
Had a visit with the MD covering my PCP (very nice guy), he ordered labs, a CT all STAT on Monday. nothing except scar/atelaectesis at the base of my left lung (likely from the massive hospital acquired pneumonia). Positive for H. Pylori so I start 2 antibiotics today as well at RX of Prilosec which I already take Protinix. Hope this helps....ulcer and infection does explain my issues but I still think something else is going on. He also believes I have cyclic vomiting syndrome....I am glad I have a really great therapist for CBT and biofeedback. Plus this forum has always been so supportive. So that is it. My update. Now if I can just rally the energy for a shower I can finish an assignment for class. It has been difficult these weeks but I am not missing any class work (MSN with an emphasis on Public Health). on line thank goodness! for those that have followed me and commented with ecouragement a big thank you. for those still struggling, we are in this together!

Ok- I have mentioned in some posts about bad behaviors that crept back in which prevented me from reaching goal, and added a little more to my struggles. A few people indicated they were in a similar spot, and would love to have an accountability partner. So here goes:
After the surgery, it was too easy to lose weight. i was never hungry, and so I ate what I could whenever. I started eating later. I began to tolerate carbs, and they slowly drifted back into my diet. I started sipping at meals, with a straw. I renewed my love affair with Dr. Pepper. The weight fell off easily. Until it stopped. Now it's time for a serious changes as I noticed, I put on a few pounds this past winter.
I officially state that I AM TAKING BACK MY SLEEVE!
I am starting fresh as it were. I am doing Protein Shakes. I am taking Vitamins. I am counting calories. I am eating as "clean" as possible. I am drinking Water. I am getting in more physical activity. Basically, I am now doing everything I should have been doing all along, but sadly admit I never did.
Three weeks into it and I am down 9 pounds and lost over 15 inches. I feel great and hope to keep doing better as I embrace the lifestyle changes I should have made two years ago.
    Who's with me???

Sorry for the rough time. Do you have anti nausea meds? Zofran/companizine/---you can get Zofran in disintergrating pills and compazine comes in suppository form if you cannot get meds down. I sympathize with you. I wont get into details from my sleeve in 2012 (you can find my threads) but it is likely due to anesthesia...let it work thru and follow your doctor instructions.....hang in there. you can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the rx can really help. sometimes our bodies just do not like the surgical process. sip sip sip!

We have gone through pretty much everything a marriage can go through, except the death of a child (thank goodness), and humor has gotten us through some really tough times. Sorry to hear of your complications. I had a splenic infarct with an abcess tunneling to liver among other issues (you can find my history under "complications" if interested,), it does happen...no reason for mine except during exploratory surgery, the omentum was placed too heavily on the tip of the spleen which blocks blood flow. Long journey but you can get through this......!

NORCALRN reacted to Proud2BMe in A patient died after surgery with Dr. Elias Ortiz at A Lighter Me!
People seem to forget that death is always a risk with surgery. Patients who have comorbidities, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, lung problems, etc., are at a greater risk than those who do not have such issues. The risk of death is small for a relatively healthy person. However, every patient needs to be aware of the risks before going into this.
