You can also have LF Ricotta cheese . I tried "Shelly's Baked Ricotta" from The World According to Eggface. It's slightly famous on some of the WLS blogs, and didn't disappoint! You can also find a recipe to add pumpkin puree to it and spices for a dessert. I love pumpkin
    Boxed mashed potatoes
    Hummus
    Cottage cheese

The first is in March 2012 when I was in Bali. The second was in July and much less exotic because I was at work but wow I look better! I was sleeved in May.
I will need to get an updated photo the weekend.

This is why we need to research our surgeons, read everything you can find about them, talk personally to former patients! This is your body and you can't trust that to just anyone. I was sleeved on 8/02 by Dr. Alvarez and he is absolutely a top notch surgeon. I had wonderful care by him and his team. I did a lot of research and called former patients before I made my choice. If there are bad Dr's out there, get their name out on these boards so that no one dies because of bad surgery skills.

You will do great! Everyone's pain is different. I had no pain or nausea. I was blessed :0 I wish you the same. Where you are right now is the tough spot. Waiting. Soon they will put you under and you will wake up on the losers bench. It is good. May God be with you and your surgeon today!

I am six weeks out and my stomach makes really loud gurgles and other crazy sounds after I eat or even just drink a lot. We call it "Chewie" because it truly sounds like Chewbacca sometimes.

I was sleeved on 8/02. Down 25 pounds and I feel so good. Just started adding in real foods to my soft foods. Have not tried too many things yet, but I am looking forward to being able to have more variety Still struggling with fluids, have never gotten in near 64 oz. Working on doing that each day. Some days it is hard to eat, my stomach is picky about some foods, others it really likes. I can usually tell after one or two bites if I need to stop eating and find something else. It always surprises me at some of the things it does not like yet.

By this time next year most of you will likely be new people.

SkinnieMinnie2b......I can tell you that you won't be sorry that you have this surgery. I am 5'2 and I weighed in at 227 when I finally decided to be sleeved. Lots of people told me I was not big enough to have a weight loss surgery. Sorry, but I have been pretty miserable for 24 years of my life and I was so ready to get this weight off my body. You have to do what your heart tells you to do. I feel better every day. There are times when I have gotten sad that I can't eat something but it only lasts for a short time and I know that one day, if I chose to eat something, I can do that. The liquids/soft foods phase does not last forever. I will never understand why people have to say things about others where they can hear them. Just because you are overweight does not make you hard of hearing or immune to the hurt of others words. I am so sorry that you heard the comments that you overheard. You had a good cry and now you can use the hurt to get motivated for your surgery. I wish you all the best

Thank you all for your encouraging words and congratulations! This group has meant so much to me. Thought I'd post one more picture of myself and my daughter, who weighs 54 pounds. That's exactly what I've lost as of today. An entire 5 year old! LOL

i work in a call center, so I don't have to deal with customers, but it took me a long time to get comfortable in my surroundings because I was afraid of what other people were whispering. At my highest I was over 400, but I had a nurse at the hospital actually tell me that I carry the weight in a way that I didn't look that heavy. Not sure how much of a reassurance that was, only because I know how I looked and it wasn't like I looked that much smaller. I hoovered right around 375 for years, but then docs had me do prednisone for some lung issues and that's what pushed me over. But - I have just a little over 2 weeks and I am not looking back! Ever again!

I'm kind of odd when it comes to fears with this surgery. I'm not afraid of the surgery itself, I'm afraid of the life after. I have had 5 surgeries, 4 of them were on my knees (ex highschool & college football player). I'm afraid of the life after, I mean let's be real..... Im a 26 year old guy that loves to go out and have fun = bubye alcohol.... I have always been very athletic but never small enough to do a few things I have always dreamed of = still won't be able to do an Ironman because nutrition and hydration. I love to golf, the idea of being on a TX golf course in the middle of summer without a beer is insane lol! And the biggest one of all, social pressures. I have not told anyone I'm doing this because when I mentioned the idea a few months ago I got really bad feedback from my friends, at which point they stepped up and really supported my weight loss (better known as 3 mo. Pre-op lol) I have changed my eating habits and limited my drinks to 2-3 vs 12-13 and I have lost 30 lbs in the 3 months. But now they miss the old me and the pressure is on hard core to drink again (I do miss the crazy bar nights). With that being said I am HORRIFIED I will lose my friends I am now looking on the brightside of things, maybe of I lose my old friends I will meet some awesome new healthy ones and hopefully a nice girl to motivate me to keep dragging my butt to the gym! I guess sometimes you just need to be willing to sacrifice, even if that means friends, for the greater good of life!

Done. Keep the faith and He'll see you through.
We have a lot in common, so I want to give a quick testimony about my lean times. I've been off for surgery for 2 weeks with limited funds from one of my jobs, the other doesn't pay if I don't work. I'm a single mom, and I also have a special needs daughter. I've been using my credit card to get by in between checks until I go back to work. I get paid tomorrow, and I had $3.33 in my checking account. All of these things happened TODAY:
    1. My car was giving me problems, so I took it in this morning. I pulled out my credit card, but it was a quick fix so they waived the $105 fee.
    2. I had to take my daughter to the doctor, my copay is $25, so I pulled out my credit card, and lady at the desk told me that I have a credit so, there's no charge.
    3. I took my daughter's prescription to Wal-Mart, and I usually pay $12, so I had my credit card ready, my insurance company reduced the cost of that particular antibiotic to $3, so I had that in change.
    4. The BEST one of all, I got home and went to check the mail for my pay check stub, and saw a letter from the IRS. They sent me a refund check for $97, because they said I over paid them.
God Is Good, All the Time.

I LOVE seeing everyone's before, during and after pics!
I've been updating this as I go. I just did it the other day because I felt discouraged over very little weight loss recently but I can tell in the face picture that my body is changing. The difference between the second and third image is only about 7-8 lbs but obviously there are still other changes going on too. The last pic in both is from Friday, down almost 90 but plenty more to go.

I was sleeved in MX by Dr. Alvarez and it was a wonderful experience. I woke up in NO pain, had to ask if they had operated on me. I never had nausea or vomited. Had no drain or catheter. I would recommend him to anyone. I paid 8,700.00 and it would have cost at least double that in my area. I am 6 weeks out today and feel great. I love Dr A and his staff and I very blessed to have been sleeved by this team. There is nothing to fear about going to Piedras Negras, it is a quiet little city.
