erp got a reaction from Fawn1120 in How many of you recent sleevers are hungry?
I am 5 days post op and I only eat because I have to. I do get thirsty but I have yet to be hungry. It is surreal.

erp got a reaction from Zen in How much help did you need in hosp and after home from hospital?
I was the same way as above. I am 5 days post op and I took my first shower 100% alone today. Was able to get in and out of bed on my own yesterday, it hurts some but I can do it, using my arm and leg muscles. I was able to put my own sock on as of today. I still cannot bend over to pick anything up off the floor. Slide in shoes are my friend.
As far as in the hospital, you won't need any extra help. The nurses and staff help you as much as needed and if you wear the gown all the time it makes potty time much easier. Adjust the bed to help you get in and out of it.

It's surgery, you will have some pain. For me, I had trouble getting in bed by myself the first few days. My pain is localized to one specific area where the doctor sutured the muscle. However staying up on my pain meds helps. Walking helps with the general gas pain. If possible, have a friend or family member stay with you for the first few days. You will not be able to lift your children for several weeks. Best of luck.

I love that I made it through surgery safely (2/20) and that the people I love the most are here with me while I recover. I will always be grateful for my loved ones being here in my time of need.

I was sleeved Feb. 20th. Got home today. My Nut said to start my Vitamins, big mistake! I was nauseous for a few hours after that. Fortunately I did not throw up. It hurts to cough but it is getting the mucous out. So definitely do your breathing exercises. Overall, I feeling ok, most of my pain is on the right where my surgeon stitched my muscle. It also caused a big dent on my side which I've read will go away. Been walking quite a bit, not far but often. Still have some gas pain in my right shoulder. I have never been so happy to fart in my entire life. Good luck to all upcoming Feb sleevers!

erp got a reaction from mandi827 in FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Yesterday was my big day. In the hospital for one more day. Everything is going pretty much as others have described. I have severe but manageable pain on my right side where most of the instruments went in and out. Today's Breakfast tray consists of Jello, apple juice, and broth. Hope everyone sleeved this week is doing well.

My guy doesn't support my decision either so I've simply stopped discussing it with him. I have turned to my parents for support and am flying them out to help me with my recovery. That way I am not surrounded by negativity. If you are certain in your decision than you said it best, you think it's right for you. That's what matters. I'm sorry to hear that you believe this could end your marriage but I think what could be worse is staying in a marriage with someone you resent. For me, if I let my DH stop me from doing what I need to do, I would resent him. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Not really. While both procedures reduce the size of the stomach, they are different. Bypass creates a small pouch near the top of the stomach. While the sleeve is a long narrow tube that runs the length of the stomach. From what I've read, the bypass pouch can stretch more readily than the sleeve. Again, it has to do with what part of the stomach is removed. For the sleeve mostly the muscular portion of the stomach remains. This part is very difficult to stretch. However with both bypass and sleeve you may have a perception of stretching over the first year as you fully heal, you will be able to eat more.

erp reacted to Spatters3 in OMG did I really used to eat that much?
We are all stomach deprived. I can imagine how a vegetarian feels when sitting around eating a meal with carnivores. euuuuu!!! I know that I am one of those people who could consume massive amounts of food and I am so thankful that I am now unable to do that to myself. That being said, I can't hold the non-stomach deprived population to my new standards of eating because they aren't blessed with my body modification. It's like being a member of a secret society

I have been struggling to get to onderland for 4 weeks with a stall, yesterday morning it finally happened! I haven't been under 200 for 30 years - wow, I am still amazed with this sleeve! No hunger, no sugar cravings, just amazing! I want to shout about this surgery to anyone who is interested! I also just got into misses 14 pants for the first time that I ever remember. Last spring when I started the pre-op process I was wearing womens plus size 22. I will be posting pics in the next day or two - I finally want to post pics, LOL!

@ERP. It's sad that your employer choses to do that. It would be nice if you could share it the way you want or keep to yourself if thats what you want. I've seen several posts where folks have shared with their co workers and they were nothing but very supportive. Those are some lucky people.
To bad they are not all like that.
Hope everything goes well for you. You can alway come here to vent!
Best to you! And that sweet, adorable face on your profile! That face can only give unconditional love!

I haven't read all the responses but just wanted to temper the tone that I sometimes detect when others respond with honesty's the best policy in these threads. If you've been upfront and recieved nothing but support- realize that you are lucky. My DH is against this and fills my head with so much negativity that I have stopped talking to him about it. Also, I work for a company with a lot of cattiness, judgement, and gossip. Even thought it is illegal, upper management has already talked to my immediate supervisor questioning my surgery, e.g. what am I doing? Why do I need to do this now? They want to know what surgery I'm having since it is elective. Just to be clear, none of them have asked me if I am going to be okay or wished me a speedy recovery. They are simply concerned with making quota. My supervisor has respected my privacy but he is a talker so I've hinted that it's hernia surgery (I do have a hiatal hernia) just in case he can't help himself or they pressure him more. My only point is that I choose not to tell people because even though it is illegal, people can suffer from retaliation in the workplace and judgement at home. Ok off my soapbox now.
