  1. Mine is tomorrow at 7am. I'm a nurse and have circulated on many EGDs so I was freaked too. But the hospital I worked at didn't give you the good stuff until after you swallowed the scope! The surgery center assured me I would be asleep before that point though.
  2. I did, I did! And I do hate them! But I want before and afters so I will just hide them away for now.
  3. BCBS of NC here... it took 4 weeks to get approval (found out on the 7th) met with surgeon on the 9th, surgery is the 27th just so i had time to do my 2 week diet. It was really quick once i got my approval!
  4. I have BCBS and I was very worried about being denied because my BMI hasn't been >40 the whole past 5 years (I've done boot camp and Dr assisted diets and lost to below 40). BCBS had to have a H&P from my primary doctor listing any health issues and my weight/weight loss attempt history. They also sent back the first submission because I hadn't had an "official" appt with my surgeon (he usually waits until after approval for that). We re-submitted around July 5. I received a phone call on the 7th, while i was out of town, from the surgeon's office saying I was approved. When I got home I found a letter saying I had been denied! But turns out they just hadn't got all of the fax from the doctors office. Next day my approval letter came! I hope you hear back soon and good luck!
  5. I am just starting my two week diet.. surgery on 27th. I'm only required low fat one week, then full liquid one week. I went to walmart today to buy supplies for the next three weeks. Then came home and threw everything in the fridge away. Tomorrow I will finish by doing the pantry. I cooked my "last meal" of fried deer meat and a sprite strawberry cake. Right now I'm actually ready to start my diet.. just cause I'm ready to get this started. It helps that my husband wants to do the diet with me. Kinda nervous about the all liquid week but too scared to even think about cheating! Glad I have the forums to help when it gets tough. Hang in there, we're gonna do great!
  6. Congrats! I'm scheduled for the 27th!
  7. I've been lurking around on here since May when I first started thinking this was a possibility for me (found out insurance may cover). This forum helped me decide to go with the sleeve instead of the band. So I did the nutritionist, and psych eval, and finally submitted all my paperwork the first week in July. The past five years (since my son was born) I have done it all... strict doctor monitored diet, boot camp workout three times a week with the diet... i would lose and gain the same 40 lbs. I found out last Tuesday that I was approved by insurance! Met with my surgeon Thursday and I'm scheduled for the 27th! I still have my EGD to get through Wednesday and I start my preop diet tomorrow. It still doesn't feel real but I am oh so ready. This forum has helped me so much and I hope to have as much success as many of the posters here have had. I'm ready to start this new journey!!
