Gee, if I just had a dollar for every pound I've lost over the years, and two dollars for every pound I gained back, that would equal $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

big fat swollen vein in hand where IV was
I feel for you, that was the worst part of my surgery. The IV needle slipped out of the vein, but the nurse refused to listen, kept putting more meds in it, which obv went straight into my hand. I couldn't even make a fist, probably a good thing or I would have decked her, LOL. Now, ten months later and I still have a tender spot on my upper hand.

Name Your Band
"Thang", cause when I'm eating and I start to get that funny look on my face like something didn't go down just right, he always says,"Is that thang stuck".

I agree with Leatha, this is a support group, not intimidate or bully group.

Having port removed on Friday
Oh Erin, I'm so sorry to hear you're having to go through this and you have every right to have a pitty party. This is a chance we all take when having the surgery, fortunately these infections are rare. I wish you a speedy recovery and on to your new port. Please keep us informed as to your condition, we care!

Sugar Addiction
Since all this talk about those who do and don't indulge in soda, be it diet or regular, everytime I see someone drinking one, I think OMG, I could gulp the big gulp. I hadn't even had a desire for soda, now I want a diet Dr. Pepper, BAD! I sure hate to start bad habits, but I think I'll have to have a sipppppppppppppp.

Did anyone else see it? (Cold Case on CBS)
I watched the show, though disgusting, it portrayed the way "big" girls are perceived by the "in" crowd. How often do you see a big girl or guy being in any social group? The girls were beautiful, heavy or not, they were gorgeous girls. My thoughts were, gee, I wish they knew about our club, "The Lapbanders", but then again, in real life, maybe they are happy with their size, many people are. Personally, I think many of the people who insist they're content with their larger size, say this because like many of us, they have failed at weight loss so many times before. Though my weight loss is at a serious crawl right now, I would still recommend it to anyone struggling to lose weight. Back to the show's story line, the reality is, heavy people do not get the respect they/we so deserve. This is not to offend anyone, just my opinion.

Lap Band surgery at 70?
My mom had surgery in April, she was 73, she's doing great.

Was anyone given a catheter?
If I had not been told it was being done prior to surgery, I'd have never known it was done. It was put in after I was under and taken out before I returned to my room, YEA!

VEGAS BASH - Pictures
I think I could be easily persuaded to trade my Heritage Springer for one of those. All I would need is a little fringe.

gurgling noises, burping and tooting
Get ready for a scolding, you're on liquids and mushies for a reason.... healing. Your stomach needs to heal, eating solids like that makes your digestive system work, which includes the stomach muscles. NO, NO, don't do that. If ya gotta have something, at least spit it out. I'm almost 10 months out and I wouldn't think of eating two spoons of rice, you may as well have eaten a roll. The golf ball feeling in your back and chest happens when you've eaten too fast and too much and did not chew well enough. You're on a new journey now and you have to have respect for your new friend the band. Good Luck!

Paula please check in!!

Grilled fish and peanut butter....
The ONLY way I can do my favorite fruit, the banana, is after it has been blended into a smoothie. Oh, for a banana sandwich with lots of mayo, ummmmmmmm.

Fatty Liver
I'm 55 and have a "fatty" liver. It showed up at one of those supermarket blood checks for cholesterol, was a freebie. What a shocker when he told me I had high levels of enzymes and I needed to be checked. I might have a cocktail every now and then, but I'm not a drinker, so my PCP ran every test for liver disease and it came back a "fatty" liver. I think it's usually caused by rapid weight gain. Last visit it was almost back to normal, thanks to my band.

A Confession
Dry heaves, OMG, I did that once and I thought my band had turned inside out. Now, like Lisa said, if I get that feeling in the back of my throat, I'll URP in a heartbeat to keep from hurling, because if I wait, I know that's what will happen, a PB from below the band....vomit, yuk.

How did you pay for your banding?
Got even with my DH who has too many Harley Davidsons and way too many toys, including a brand new Corvette. I just pretended it was another Harley and wrote a check, LOL. (Remember, I'm much older and had longer to accumulate those funds).

Slow Losers - Unite!
IF I lose two pounds by Christmas, at this rate, I'll have something to shout about, LOL.

Unfill
OMG Karen, I didn't realize you were down that far on your fill. I'm up to a full 2. cc now, (on a 4cc band) and doing fairly well with it. Still kinda sensitive to the restriction. I truly think the hot weather has a big bearing on my band and it's restriction. Like Michelle said, you're much better off getting an unfill, I suffered for a full month being over restricted and that was the worse time of my banded life. Listen to your band, as Martha would say, it's a good thing!

Restaurant eating, the banded way
I eat out at least 4 - 5 times a week, I usually do the bag to go with the left overs. Ironically, I told my doctor, seconds before my last fill, (which he insisted on tweaking), that I had just gotten to a point where I could go to a restaurant and not have to sit next to the restrooms. I even keep one of those insulated bags in my car for the left overs, it does help keep it a safe temperature.

Can't keep any food down
Sounds too restricted to me too. I'm curious too, please let us know what the problem is.

What's in your CD Player???
Six CD's that have been stuck for about a year, LOL. I've been told if I undo the battery on my car it may reset the player and release my CD's. In my house, I have Alabama's Greatest Hits, K.T. Oslin's Super Hits, Vince Gill, Michael Bolton, Merle Haggard, and KT's 80's ladies.

Red Hat Society
I'm so excited, I've been accepted to one of the local Red Hat chapters, the Magnolia's. A year ago, I wouldn't have considered going to a social, much less joining a group of 50+ year old ladies who like to have fun. Even though I've only lost 49 lbs, (plus the 26 lbs of muscle I've gained), I feel so much more self confident and not ashamed to walk into a crowded room. If I don't lose another pound, I'd still do the band all over again, in a heart beat.

A PB Gone Bad! Very Bad!
OMG, I've pb'd way tooooo many times, but never out of my nose, poor baby! I've never even thought about food getting stuck in there, oh my. Needless to say, next time I even think I'm gonna pb, I'm not waiting, thanks for sharing your horrible experience with us, yes every detail. Please let us know what the doctor says.
