My surgeon said with my Sleeve I can not take Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen or Aspirin since they increase the risk of a leak or bleed. Have you tried chewable or liquid Tylenol. This is what my surgeon will allow me to take. I don't know if it will help your headache, but I was concerned when you mentioned Advil.

My father died at 52. I was 26. My daughter was only 6 weeks old. He held his grand daughter 1 time before he died. I want to live 4 my family and 2 see my grandchildren's children.

Does your job have FMLA? Please don't call that person a boss. They're just someone that was placed in a leadership position, but lacking the leadership qualities necessary to be effective. That negative response you received was pure ignorance. If any one of my staff told me they would be out to have surgery for any kind of health issue, my concern would be for their safe and speedy recovery. Sure, you're absence might cause an increased workload for others temporarily, but, you'll be healthier and a more productive employee in the end. I'm sorry for ranting and raving, but I'm so sick and tired of managers/supervisors treating their staff with such a lack of civility or compassion, it makes me sick!!! Take care of yourself and I wish you the best, very best of luck!!! Let us know when you get on the loser's bench:)

Hey everyone, I found a old picture today and wanted to show the progress I have made so far. The first picture is from 4 years ago (I dont know how much I weighed in it) and the second is from this past Saturday. My highest weight was 360lbs, day of surgery I was 338lbs and I am currently 237lbs, I have been in ANOTHER stall which seems like FOREVER but I hope I will be able to get down to my goal weight.

I was sleeved June 27th. I have lost 35 pounds (10 pounds on the Pre-op diet and 25 more since surgery). I have noticed my taste and smell are different but wondered if it may be because I no longer have the intense cravings. It does seem like a full time job making sure I get enough fluids and Protein in. I had one week on Clear Liquids after surgery, and I am now halfway through two weeks on full liquids. Next will be four weeks on soft foods. It is a slow progression but my surgeon progresses his patients slowly to decrease the risk of a leak.

I am going to try this, hopefully it works! I had my sleeve surgery November 29th, 2010. The first pictures are at my highest when I got married (I love my husband, he has loved me no matter what size!), around 260ish lbs. The second are the day of my surgery, 220ish lbs. The last pictures are at my current weight, 135-137lbs (I LOVE my hormones, I LOVE my hormones). There are 2 standing in my old jeans and I fit in 1 leg (1 is me AND my daughter in my jeans). There is also a picture of my biggest jeans (size 22), and my new jeans (size 4..I wear a size 4-6). I never dreamed I would ever be this size or weigh in the 130's. I honestly never thought I would even reach goal because I had tried and failed so many times in my life. I hope these pictures are inspiration that, if you let it, the sleeve is an amazing tool! And I hope it inspires the slower losers too! It took me 18 months to reach my goal weight of 140lbs, and I have even lost a few more pounds in the last couple of months. So don't get discouraged if you don't lose all your weight in the first 6 months. If you make the changes you need to make to have a healthy life, it will happen!

It sounds like you and I are pretty similar. I haven't weighed myself in nearly a week, last weigh it was 33 pounds lost. I'm on mushie food now, and I can't imagine eating real food yet. My surgeon also progress his patients slow, and as much as my head wishes I could chow down on real food, I know this is the smart way.

The head doc i met with said that most over weight people are "all or nothing" type people. I know that resonated with me, because in the past when I cheated on a diet, I just said, the heck with this, and kept eating poorly. He said that I need to forget about the times I slip up, and concentrate on making the good decision 80-90% of the time. That way the 10-20% that I chose badly will not hurt me. Not sure if that will be helpfull for you, but it hits home with me.
Don't forget that we are all human and none of us are perfect, nor will we ever be. If you make the right choice the majority of the time, then you will come out on top!!
    Good luck!

lsmith reacted to blackanese25 in 6 Months Post Op Today.. And I Am No Longer Going For Weight Loss....
Today I am 6 months post op and although i am still 11 lbs from goal, I am no longer going for weight loss. I feel most comfortable at 160 because I have a lot of muscle so I will always weight more than the average lady and I am ok with that.. Even tho I am not going for weight loss anymore I am now going to see if i can TONE up.. more likely than not i will actually put on a few lbs in the process, but I want my muscle back. I will start doing P90x again, and what i really wanna try is INSANITY, but i need to order it first so for now P90X it is.. lol..
If anyone is interested in my before and after pics I posted them in the VSG sucess section.. Wish me luck and hopefully in 90 days i can post better more toned pics of me.. Good luck to everyone on their journeys.
