Wow, I wish you well!! I was scared to get pregnant within the first year but I did well, I did continue to lose weight for the first 4 months but it all changed around real soon. Baby grew just fine and was born a healthy 6 lbs and 13 oz. now at 8 weeks, he's 11 lbs so im happy he's not effected by any of this. Hope you get your girl...we've just decided to go for a girl in a few more months. VSG made my dreams come true....I want babies, my husband is one happy dude even though mine came right we were giving up and planning to travel instead. I gladly put my passport on the back burner for a later time...GOOD LUCK and best wishes!!

Extremely happy to share that I did get pregnant 7 months post op after trying for 17 years. This won't be our first but our daughter is 17. My Dr always said if I lost weight, my hormones will reset and it will work for me but I never believed her. Just thought it was over for me. 7 months later I was preggo and almost hit the floor literally. My husband and I didn't believe and test, not even the blood work, only the sonogram. I gained 68 lbs and now that my son is 8 weeks, I've already lost 48 and 32 of that was within 3 days of labor and all of it was before I even began working out. Now I'm about to start working on the last 20 and I'm feeling AMAZZZZING!! Still trying to lose the cravings I picked up during pregnancy but it's a process like all things....Good luck to you all trying...it will definitely happen now!

I too got pregnant with my first 8 months post op. DH and I tried to get pregnant for 7 years. I was told it was my weight, which is why I opted to get sleeved. BEST decision I ever made. Getting pregnant came as a surprise to me. I am currently 38 wks 2 days, so any day now. Best of luck to those who are trying. Don't give up and don't stress too much. I seriously had given up hope and had made up my mind to adopt when I found out I was pregnant. So don't obsess over it and let it happen naturally.

Add me to the list of pregnant post sleeve ladies!
Iam 18 months post sleeve and I am 13 wks pregnant with my first baby. Before the surgery I had extremely heavy and irregular cycles. About 9 months after the surgery my cycles started coming on time. In January I used the Ovia app and ovulation sticks to track my cycle and ovulation and times sex around those times. I got a positive pregnancy test in March.
I know for a fact that VSG is the only reason I conceived.

I woke up in the recovery room and was asked if I was in pain. There were about 4 other patients in there with me, one woman they were having a hard time bringing around. I was then moved to my hospital room and pumped full of saline, pain meds and anti nauseau meds , anti blood clot and antibiotics. I had my surgery around 12pm I was in my room around 2:30pm and went home the next day at 5pm after I had walked a few times and kept down some broth. I was definitely more comfortable at home in my own bed.

I don't know.... You might have Super Ppwers, and you just don't know it! I've been a nurse a long, long time, all in Critical Care. I think this is a Vegas thing. Not to poke holes in your lovely vision of nurses being the provider of Popsicles and other comforts, but we also monitor for bleeding and leaks that first 24 hours. It doesn't happen often statistically, but they do still happen. It's hard to visualize walking along the Strip with a narcotic infusion, but then again it's Vegas - you probably fit right in! We nurses (as simple as we are) like to make sure patients are fully ready to take care of themselves before they go. The average person is pretty foggy for 24 hours post anesthetic making it a little longer to get going. Some have a but of anxiety. And I can promise you that not everyone experiences pain the same way, our brains are not wired the same. Many, many obese patients have atelectasis that can lead very quickly to pneumonia if they don't do their spirometer or get up and move. I know most of us are well prepared before surgery and that helps tremendously, but there is much to gain from good nursing care (besides the Popsicles) the first 24 hours. At least I'd like to think so. Of course, I guess I make my living off of sick people so I'd want them to stay sick. I get what you're saying, but the AVERAGE person is not ready to walk the Vegas Strip on the day of surgery. I'd hate for Preops to get this as "the norm". Again, I suspect you store some Super Powers somewhere in there! . Now maybe this pain pump made a difference? I'd be interested to hear how frequently this is used. My hospital doesn't send anyone home with pain pumps unless they are in hospice. Would love to hear more about that.

I understand how you're feeling, but you married him knowing this about him. Right? Perhaps he needs more time and he very well may be astonished AND inspired by your END results.
Divorce should only be an option when there are no other options available. You married him for a reason... love...? He loved you and picked you to marry him and accepted you just the way you were...??? Let me know if I'm wrong. Don't get discouraged, have faith and patience; sometimes men are like children and both of these traits will help you get through the muck! Cheer up, it does get better IN TIME. Here is a good explanation...
The Pyloric Valve function and how it pertains to your VSG.
The function of your Pyloric valve is the single most not talked about important part of understanding how and when you should eat and drink.
The Pyloric Valve is just that....It is a valve that is located at the bottom of your stomach/sleeve. This valve is in between your sleeve and the lower intestine. The basic definition of a valve is an apparatus that opens and closes.
When open this valve it is about the diameter of a dime. When closed it’s opening is closed down to the diameter of the head of a ballpoint pen.
Dense Proteins and harder to digest foods will cause the Pyloric valve to close to hold the food in your stomach for pre-digestion...... stomach acids breaking down this “Rough” food.
That’s why we are told to eat dense Proteins first.....To close the Pyloric Valve so food stays in your stomach/sleeve longer so we have a sense of satisfaction.
It takes about 30-60 minutes for the food to clear the Pyloric Valve...... Than it’s OK to drink.
That is also where the term slider food comes into play. A slider food does not close the Pyloric Valve and as the term is intended.....food slides right past an open Pyloric Valve.
There is a video that gets posted every so often that is supposed to explain food going past the Pyloric Valve. The guy uses a funnel and has apple sauce or something in it....and it shows the apple sauce dripping out the end of the funnel very slow. Than he pours Water on top of the apple sauce to dilute it, illustrating drinking after eating.....and the diluted apple sauce runs through the funnel end faster. Than he concludes that this is how your pyloric valve works.
Well, it is a great video that only tells half the story.....remember it’s a valve...and he is only showing it in the open position....
So now the other half of the Pyloric Valve function..... You eat a dense Protein like chicken that causes your Pyloric Valve to close. Say for example your sleeve has a 4oz. capacity.....and you eat 4oz. of chicken.....your sleeve is full and holding all 4 oz. of chicken for pre-digestion because your Pyloric Valve is closed.
So now try and drink something....where is it gonna go? Up.....Up until it hits another valve of sorts..... the Esophageal Sphincter (valve) and above that is a flapper valve. The function of these two valves is to hold food, bile and stomach acids in your stomach and not backing up into your air way. This is a very high pressure system. Thats why when you eat to much or drink after eating a hard to digest food and your Pyloric is closed.....It hurts cause you pressurized your intake track. Vomiting would be a natural pressure release.
So you can see how learning and understanding how the Pyloric Valve works is important as it pertains to eating and drinking with a Gastric Sleeve.

Silkylady got a reaction from PrettyPuffy in Federal BCBS (standard) Good or Bad experiences?
I have Basic and it was a smooth process to get approved. Three month diet I did with primary doctor, nutrition classess, cardio, psych eval and barium test and I only paid my 35 dollar copay each time I went to a specialist....then 150.00 for the surgery...it took 3 days to get approved. I was sleeved on July 19 and just got the insurance statement. The surgery and hospital stay was billed at $59,545 but since it was with a preferred provider the insurance company actually paid $19,921.00. So in total I paid 325.00 total out of pocket.
