Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy and then we went on vacation. I don't do a lot of posting more lurking and reading than anything. Ok so I just started my liquid pre op today. My doc requires 2 weeks pre op of clear liquids and 2 weeks post op clear liquid. This SUCKS!! The kids cooked a pizza earlier and I swear it smelled so good. I don't even eat Tombstone pizze 99.99% of the time when they cook it but tonight I wanted to. Instead I just got my jello with beneprotein and a juice box of Boost Breeze and came on here to read and post. Had to leave the kitchen because the pizza was to tempting. I can't really say that I feel 'hungry' after eating the jello and drinking the boost but I can say that I am 'craving' the pizza. It is just a head thing right now. It is almost 10pm and now is when I think my struggle will start. I am one who eats apples and/or a bowl of melons at night while watching tv. I am going to try to just go to bed. I usually stay up until 1am but I am going to try to start going to bed earlier also. Anyway, hope everyone is doing great and good luck to all who are on deck this week.

Pre-Op Protein Supplements / Collier Patients
Congrats on insurance approval. I am just starting my liquid stage today. My doc requires a 2 week pre op of clear liquids and a 2 week post op of clear liquids. They suggested Boost Breeze to me because I just can't handle slim fast and those kinds of suppliments. They also suggested Bene protein because it has no flavor. I have made some jello and added the beneprotein to it and it really doesn't taste so that is what I will be using. The boost breeze are not bad at all. They come in 3 different flavors (mixed berry, orange and I can't remember the other) They are really convenient too because they come in fruit juice boxes (like a kids juice box) and they each have 9 grams of protein. I only have to drink 3 of these a day and eat 1 cup of jello with beneprotein and I have the 30 grams of protein daily. It still has a little bit of after taste but not bad and nothing like those other shakes I tried. Good luck to you.

Liquid diet HELLLLL
Ok. So today was my first dy of the liquid diet. I HATE IT!!!! I have drank the Boost Breeze, eaten some jell-o with Bene protein in it and I think I am about to float away! My kids cooked pizza for themselves tonight and I am setting in my bedroon sipping on my Boost Breeze Fruit drink. Whoopppeeee. LOL I am sorry I know most everyone has to go through this I just had to rant a few minutes. I have a question though. My doc requires a 2 week pre op of clear liquids and then 2 weeks post op clear liquids. Has anyone else had this long and is it 'easier' after surgery or are we still 'starving'. I have told myself all day that I only have 13 more days on this crappy liquids before surgery and then my hope is that it is not as bad after. I know there is no restriction but maybe the mind set? Just looking for feedback from other bandsters. Can't wait!! I am almost there! I can not believe it.

Isn't lapband for people who don't have much to lose?
Everyone will need additional surgeries? I know that there are complications but I have never read that there is always additional surgeries. Please tell me more about this. Thanks

Isn't lapband for people who don't have much to lose?

Seroquel is the DEVIL!!!
I don't know for sure just repeated what my psych said. I know that like I said myself, my mom and my cousin were all on it so I don't believe that it is rarely prescribed either. We all seen different docs and had it prescribed so you are right about being prescribed alot. I honestly am not sure how long it has been around. Like I said just repeating what I had been told.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good luck lynnette. We will all be thinking of you. Hope to hear from you VERY soon!!! We want details!!! Take care and good idea to have everything done before going. I am the same way. I am a list person and I like everything totally tidy at all times and if I am gong away I will clean thoroughly before leaving so when I come home it is all done and I can be relaxed. Otherwise I would constantly be thinking of what needs to be done.

Having My Band Removed
Thanks Karen for sharing your story. So sorry for your troubles with Nutcracker esophagus and losing the band. I will be banded on July 23rd and I can't wait. I am getting soooo nervous and even asking myself if I REALLY want to do this. I keep coming up with the same answer........YES. That is not to say that I am not scared of the complications that can arise but I keep telling myself they are rare and the band can be a wonderful tool. Good luck to you on your rouxenY surgery. I hope recovery goes very well for you. You are definately a fighter. I have thought many times what will I do if this doesn't work and I keep telling myself...this has to work this is the end of the line for me and I WILL make this work. Since being approved by insurance on the 20th of June I have lost 7 lbs. :whoo: Not sure if it is just because it is summer and I am more active or if I am subconsciously getting myself into the mode. I prefer to believe the latter.

Seroquel is the DEVIL!!!
I agree!!! I was on seroquel and a few others about 4 years ago and I gained 100 lbs during that time. Can not for the life of me take it off. My mom, and cousin were/are on seroquel and they gained massive amounts also. I seen my cousin about 2 months ago and he had really lost weight. I asked him how he had lost so much and he said 'I quit taking me meds'. The pysch that I see now asked who prescribed seroquel for me because that is such an OLD med that is rarely used anymore. I told him who it was and he was surprised. Alot of the psychotropics and antidepressants have the side effect of weight gain. I used to work in a residential facility woth people with depression or other mental illnesses and I have seen the results several times. Good luck!

2nd Day Pre-Op Diet-Harder Than I Thought
I would call your surgeon and ask him as all doctors are different. I can not have anything other than Clear Liquids during my 14 days of pre op. Just give your doctor a call and see what he recommends.

Welcome Roniker. Hello everyone else. Our days are coming soon. Can't wait/ 12 more days til I have to start liquids. Going on vacation July 5-8 and then have to start liquid diet on the 9th. Worked out pretty good for me. I have already done my shopping for the beneprotein and liquid meds and a few other things. Even bought myself a magic bullet mixer. I figure that will come in VERY handy through the mushy/puree period. Besides the family will love to make fruit smoothies and stuff as well. Everyone take care and I am thinking of you all. Can't wait to hear from you dini and hope you are comfortable during recovery- With the band you only lose x lbs. Why?
Thanks for that post alexandra. Makes me even more confirdent of my decision to be banded.- With the band you only lose x lbs. Why?

Chimboree calendar looks great. Looks even better since you were able to officially add me.- I'm Approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I got my approval over the phone of Friday that I was approved for rouxenY and told them that is not the surgery that I was applying for. My surgeons office had marked the wrong thing on my paperwork so so had to resubmit again. They were pretty sure I would be approved for lap band but couldn't give me the definate on riday because the review bourd had to relook at things for lap band. Today I got a phone call this morning that I am approved for Lap band. Took me 3 whole days from faxing info in the first time to getting approval for both surgeries. WOO HOO Surgery is scheduled for July 23. I already went out and bought some of the things on the list of things to have at home waiting for me when Icome home. Gas X, liquid tylenol, liquid Centrum Vitamins, flintstone vitamins, beneprotien, SF pop sickes, have a heating pad, small cans of orange juice and tomato juice (dr wants me to drin 1 per day) bought some new comfy clothes for the hospital, a bullet mixer to mix things up after surgery,Water, crystal lite. Anything else anyone else can think of? I would love you hear your input. I want to be well prepared for the comming home part. WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO I can't wait to begin my journey with you other bandsters!!!!!!!!:clap2::heh:- Beneprotein powder pre op good or bad
Thanks wasa. I am having surgery July 23 and just trying to start getting some of the things picked up so I have them here at home. I thing I am going to buy a few of the single packets of beneprotein off of ebay and try those. Right now they are 2.95 for 12 packets and 5.65 for shipping. I think I will just give them a try. Beneprotein is one of the few the nutrisionist suggested. She told me this one really had no tasts and she has used it but I agree with you. I need to try it myself before jumping right in and buying a case.- Beneprotein powder pre op good or bad
I am asking anyone who used beneprotein powder (no flavor) for their pre op diet if it honestly has no flavor. I will be mixing this in with my clear liquids and don't want it to make the liquids terrible to drink since I will have to do this for 4 weeks. Please give me some insight in to this. It is cheaper to buy this stuff by the case then individual cans so I want to make sure it is good before I buy a case. Thanks for you inputs - Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
