Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Hi all!! Just wanted to share my news with you all. I went to my primary care doc today for a post op check with him. I have lost a total of........drum roll please.............29 lbs!!!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2: This is since the end of May. I am so excited and even more ready for this journey!!!!! I walked my 3 1/2 miles today in the Blazing heat again. I am not walking outside tomorrow though. I am off to the gym. Has to be cooler than outside, although a bit smelly. LOL lynnette and danny- congrats on the 20 lb lose you two. You are doing awsome!!! Chim- 11 lbs in a week!!! You go girl. marcy- when would you find time for a part time job. LOL You are so busy as it is. Does sound like good money though. dini- so glad that you are guaranteed to get your tattoo. It would suck coming all that way to be told 'first come first serve' cazulay- don't be so hard on yourself girl. You will get to a medium. Heck you may even go to a small. everyone else HELLO AND I HOPE YOU ARE ALL DOING GREAT AND LOVING LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :whoo:

ssankofa73- great to hear you are doing so well. Don't you love that full feeling? chris- wonderful to hear you are doing so well. Sorry to hear about your painful catheter experience. I had a catheter inserted after I ws asleep but they kept mine in until the next day right before I came home. Not a comfortable thing. cazulay- I know what you mean. I didn't cook for my family tonight. I took my daughter to subway to get the three of them food and that was a mistake. I was sooooo hungry. I have been on clear liquids since July 9 and while we were there I bought a childs size sauce cup full of tuna. I brought it home and took 2 tablesppons out and added fat free mayo to that and then ate a couple VERY small bites. I was so afraid to swallow it!! This is my second 'cheat ' in a month. :faint: I ate a small square of Ms Gordons fish 4 days into the liquids before surgery and now tonight. I want food. Not this damn liquid stuff. I understand there reasoning for the whole liquid diet thing but my gosh a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I just got a 'taste' and I was fine. The craving was over. Didn't even finish the 2 tablespoons because I am so afraid of hurting my band. I know every doctor is different I just can't wait to start the mushy stage. chim- I am soooooo jealous of you!!! you get to start mushies already tomorrow and I was banded before and still can't start them until Monday. LOL Eat something for me PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha Jeanie-hope you enjoyed the motorcycle ride. My DH always wants me to ride with him also but I have this fear that I am to heavy and will make his bike 'bottom out' over bumps. LOL Maybe when I lose some of this I will get back on again. Used to ride all the time. I made my 10,000 steps according to my pedometer and I burned 438 calories. That is wonderful considering I only took in 380 calories. I have not been getting much over 400-500 calories a day. I still feel great though but having a hard time getting my protein in. I was drinking the boost breeze but I just can't stand that stuff since surgery. It is just WAY to sweet for me now. I am mixing my beneprotein in with my drinks and getting protein that way. To everyone else that I did not forget but did not mention hope you are doing well.

Hello everyone!! Just wanted to say hey and see how everyone is doing today. I just got back from a 3 mile walk. I have been walking 2 miles but yesterday and today I kicked it up to 3 miles. I have been wearing my pedometer and trying to do the 10,000 steps a day. MAN!!!!! I can't believe how much walking is involved in 10,000 steps. LOL Yesterday I only got 8,759 steps in but I didn't put it on right away in the morning either. Today I got up and put it on right away and have worn it all day and I have already gone 8,369 steps so I think I might just make it to the 10,000 steps today. Got my first compliment today. My father in law (who knows nothing of the band just htat I had hernia surgery) said to me when he saw me walking. 'you're really dropping the weight aren't you girl' I said some. He said 'I could tell when I seen you the other day.' I know I have lots to go but it sure felt good for someone who doesn't know anything about the band to notice. Ok enough tooting of my own horn. Don't mean to monopolize. I just love sharing everything with you all!! Kathy so sorry to hear about your sister not being able to babysit for you. Maybe something will come up and it will work out for her. Lynnette- glad your fill went great. Your doc is a Mcsteamy. Mine isn't too bad either. Pretty easy on the eyes:heh: dmtjet- Not in the pool today? I would love to get in mine now and cool off sunny- glad you are feeling better after over doing it the other night. dini oh dini where have you gone. I have seen a post from you today. Miss reading your posts. You always make me smile. chim- sounds like you are doing really well as well. I am happy. Congrats to you for going back to work right away. Everyone else hello all my fellow Lucky # 7's. We are all complete now. We sure have a wonderful group of people and our losers bench in the dug out is full. So glad to have such a great bunch of people to hang out with. :whoo::whoo:

Jeanie that is how my fills will be done also. After surgery the following day I had to go down to xray and drink the barium and I got to watch the barium go through my band. That was kind of cool. They told me doing it this way usually doesn't take as many fills to get you to your 'sweet spot'. :clap2:

Kathy so sorry to hear you were emotional today. You have gone through a lot this past week and haven't really had a lot of down time to adjust to it. Take it easy girl. From you description I think our ports are in the same place. Yesterday I had my one week post op and all this time I have been thinking this incision on the right about 3 inches from my bra line was my port. Then I am talking to the doctor and I said 'the only incision a little tender to the touch is this one. Isn't that where my port is?' She laughed and said no your port is the longer incision by your belly button. The incision that is a little tender to the touch is where one of the instuments was. I said but there is a little hard thing in the center of it and she told me that is just a small pocket of fluid that forms under the skin where there is a suture.' So anyway, my port incision isn't sore. LOL

Good Morning/Afternoon everyone. Just wanted to jump in and say hi to everyone. Dmtjet- the poll sounds wonderful. We have a pool in our yard that has been setting getting no use for about 2 weeks now. My son hasn't even been swimming. Not sure what is up with that. I on the other hand can not wait until next week when I go back to the doctor and get released to swim. he told me water exercise is about one of the best exercises!!! nurse76- oh I don't envy you living in the tornado valley. I am sooooo afraid of storms!!! I freak out when we get a tornado watch let alone a warning. I live in Iowa and luckily where I live we have not had a really bad tornado since I believe it was '64 (I think that is what my mom told me. I wasn't born). I get so afraid and just do not sleep when we have thunderstorm/tornado weather. Snow storms don't bother me. This past winter we had one of the worst ice storms that I can remember and we were without electricity for 5 days. We stayed with my inlaws though and they had a generater so we done fine. dini- congrats on your tatooing!!! I bet you are excited. Sounds so fun to go to Miami. Wish I could go but just won't be able to do it with christmas right around the corner. Lynnette- how are you doing? Got anymore of your great recipes? I am waiting for next Monday to be able to try the chicken salad everyone is raving about. Sunny- how did your resting go yesterday. I know what you mean about being uncomfortable after setting for a while. Sunday nice when we went to stock car races I was starting to get really uncomfortable setting in the bleachers. Everyone else I have not forgotten but did not mention hope you are all doing wonderful. I love reading all of your posts. I love being a part of this group. Everyone seems to know everyone even though no one has really 'met' yet. Well I am off to the gym. Going to go try the treadmill and stair stepper. Not supposed to do weights yet so I am walking for now. Later all!!!

Chim how was the first day back at work? Any discomfort? I hear ya on the naps. I figure I am going to take full advanatge of it while I can.LOL I am supposed to be napping now but I got caught up looking/talking about these protein shots and haven't taken my nap. LOL I am really tired though so I shoudl sleep well (and early) tonight. Won't have time for my nap now. DH will be home shortly and I am making them spagetti (made with whole wheat noodles) for supper. Wish I could have some too. :hungry:

OnMyWay thanks for the info. I ordered a couple single shots to try them out. I found them on ebay. I think I can muster through with these. Not that much to drink. I like that part of it. Thanks for all the info!!!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
OnMyWay where did you say you could buy these? How much liquid do you have to drink to get that many grams of pretein? I am looking for something I dont have to eat or drink alot of to get my protein while i am in this liquid stage. I am having a hard time with after tastes with the protein drinks since surgery.

Just had my 1 week post op today. Everything went fine. I am healing fine and I am down 13.5 lbs. Not a whole lot considering what I gained from IV fluids but I am still happy to see the scale move. They told me that some people do not lose anything the first 2-3 weeks after surgery because of the fluids and swelling so I am lucky there. I have lost the fluids plus 2 lbs so I am happy with that. Still have 1 more week of clear liquids. Today is the start of week 4 of the clear liquids.:faint: I can't wait until next week!!!! I am soooooo tired of these liquids! I had to do 2 weeks pre op of clear liquids and then 2 weeks post op clear liquids and then I more to the mushy stage. :hungry: Hope everyone else is doing great. Good luck to all that are being banded tomorrow. After tomorrow the lucky 7's will be complete!!!!! HOE EXCITING!!!! :whoo: Well I am off for my afternoon nap. :bored Getting it kind of late today because of my afternoon appointment. LOL

NewCC so sorry to hear you were put off. He should have been right on the phone calling you back whether you were self pay or insurance pay. At least you have the antibiotic now. I would have thought he would have seen you today. Take care of yourself and give him a piece of your mind. I would!!!!!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Sunny- I find that I am sleeping alot too. I get up in the morning but take a 2-2 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon and then back to bed early at night. That is really unusual for me because I am one to set up at night and watch tv until 1-2 am sometimes 3 am. DH is really liking me going to sleep early because the tv is off. LOL I didn't get my nap yesterday and yawned and yawned the whole time we were at the races last night. You would have thought I worked 3rd shift the night before and hadn't had any sleep. It's wonderful being off and being able to sleep when we want though. Next week will be rough returning to 'real' life with work and all. LOL

I know what you mean. I had no problem with the boost breeze before surgery. Now after I drank it the first 3 days out and then at night I had this AWFUL after taste in my mouth. It made me kinda nauseous!! Now I am having a hard time forcing myself to drink them. I have been trying to get at least 1 of the 3 a day in that I need but yesterday I only got a half of one in. I then tried my beneprotein in chicken broth and it grossed me out too. I am having a hard time getting my proteins in now. Can't wait to advance from liquids. I still have one more week yet!!!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
I know what you mean. I went into the hospital at 251 the morning of surgery and when I came home the next afternoon I weighed 264 again. UUUGGHHHHH!!! When I asked the nurse how much I weighed and she told me I freaked out. She told me it is because of all the IV fluids and then I had to stop taking my diuretic. I have lost all but 3 of the lbs now but I am sure it is the sodium in the broth and the liquids yet because I haven't started the diuretic again. I have my first post op tomorrow also. Wish me luck. Well we are off to the stock car races tonight. I don't like them myself because they scare the holy crap out of me. LOL. My family likes them so I am going for them. I set on pins and needles the whole time thinking a car is going to come over the side and roll on us!!! Sunny I am glad to hear you did so well also. That is great!!!! If you made it this far with minimal discomfort I think we will be ok now. :clap2: Maria I hope your discomfort starts to get better. Just keep reminding yourself about the prize at the end!!!

Eileen we were banded on the same day!!! Sorry to hear that you have been having pain. It will get better. I was fortunate and never had any gas pain or pain. Just tenderness in the abdomin when I moved thank goodness. I was fortunate because I read alot that people have quite a bit of pain. Congratulations on the weight loss!! Your doing wonderful. :clap2::clap2::clap2: Come here whenever you need to chat. There is always someone here to listen. None of us will ever have to be alone.

Good luck to everyone on deck for tomorrow. By this time tomorrow night you will be in bandland. We have all started scooting over to make room on the losers bench for you. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Lynnette-Great to see you are up and running again. I love reading your posts. Started to feel hungry tonight. DH made Brat patties for supper (one of my favorites!!) and I sat at the table and visited with the family while they ate. I done fine though. I got a boost breeze out and drank that while they ate. It was kinda nice to set with the family again. Feels like it has been forever since we have all been at the table. That has always been a big thing in our house and when I started the 2 week liquids before surgery I only sat with them a couple of times. Kinda funny because it wasn't the food that I was missing with them it was just being with them at meal time. :cry

Cate54 I was told that I wasn't to have any Ibuprofen or NSAIDS after lapband. My doc told me they are hard on the stomach and the band. Every doctor is different though. Good luck

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Hi all. Just wanted to stop in and say hi and hope everyone is doing great. I just finished catching up on all the posts. My computer was running really slow yesterday taking forever to load a page so I just quit and came back today. Today is day 3 with the band. I am feeling fine doing great. Finally got to take my shower. Thank goodness I felt like a grease monkey!! LOL It was the best shower I have ever taken. Still find that I tire out easily but that is to be expected. I am thoroughly enjoying my time off of work. I am doing nothing but walking, sleeping and drinking fluids. The fluids are going down very well. No problem there. I feel great and have to say this has been a very postive experience for me. The surgery went extremely well with no pain after wards. I am fortunate because I have noticed many have problems with the gas. I hope that passes for all of you soon. Hope everyone is doing great and welcome to bandland. Lynnette hope you get your computer going soon. I miss reading your posts. Auntie Phyl you sound like you are doing bettter. That is great Dini take care of your little precious gem. She is a doll. Everyone else I am thinking of you and praying for you all. Take care
