A1C
I got my test results. I am @ 7.5. Surgery is scheduled for 10/1

I Did It!
Yep. Most surgeons won't do surgery if it's too high. The risk of complications is higher and healing may be impaired.

I Did It!
At the end of June I was devastated that my A1C number was 10.6. It stopped me from getting a surgery date. I really wanted to give up but didn't. I went high protein low carb. Guess what? Today my A1C is 7.5. I will be having surgery October 1 st! I did it. Thanks for all the encouragement. You guys rock.

Who Are You?
HI, I'm Tia. I'm 40 yrs old, married with no children. My husband is an ALS patient that I care for at home with the help of a very special nurse and a loving father. We loved to travel and spend loads of time together until his health really declined. He is on a ventilator. He's a super guy who never complains, has a super disposition, and is encouraging me to get this surgery so that when he's gone , I can live a healthy happy life. I am a super busy person between work and his care. This is the first thing I am doing for me in years. I love him and I love being a wife  and just wish he could enjoy the rest of my lfe with me.

Decisions
I chose the sleeve over the band because after a very candid and frank discussion with the surgeon, it seemed like a better option for me. He actually told me that I would do better with sleeve or RNY, but he would do the band if I was set on it. After our discussion and some research, I decided he was right and I am going for the sleeve.

Tell Us your Story!
Hi everyone. I have completed all the prerequisites for my surgery. I have even been approved by insurance. (United Healthcare) I am using Banner Gateway Dr Podkameni. I do not have a surgery date yet. I am having to get my A1C down and I just got treated for H. Pylori. I really love the staff @ Banner Gaetway and they are so supportive. They have really made this journey better than expected. They have helped me not give up when I got the bad news about my A1C and H. Pylori. I was ready to say skip all this and I'll just die fat. They wouldn't let me keep that crappy attitude and have stood by me and ecouraged me every step of the way. I am really looking forward to having this surgery and starting my new life. Hopefully my set of test in Sept will show everything is where it needs to be.

A1C
Hi all, I am type 2 and my surgery is on hold due to my A1C. Half way thru the prerequisite portion of my journey in March, my A1C was 7.6. When I went for pre-op testing in June it was 10. They won't do the surgery until I am back to 8. I wish someone would have told me to keep my eye on it. I was irresponsible and stopped testing because I thought, "hey I'm getting this surgery in a few months anyway". I say all that to say, don't stop managing your diabetes as you normally would or you may find yourself in the same boat. On a positive note, I do believe when I have my next test in Sept, I will be good to go. My daily test are looking pretty good. Thanks for listening.

Az Sleevers Pre And Post...
I am really happy that I chose this center. The staff is really compassionate and caring. I am a little up tight and hard on myself at times, and they always make me feel better and keep me focused on the successes in my pre op journey, not the failures.

- Az Sleevers Pre And Post...
Good luck Shawn. His staff is awesome. I have some things that are going on that are hindering me getting a surgery date. The staff @ the clinic schecks on me and encourages me to keep going. The insurance co has already approved me, I have to get some of my numbers down from my last labs.- Quick Approval
Thanks. I am working hard on it.- Playstation For Some Exercise?
I have EA sports active for kinect. It came with exercise bands and a heart monitor.- Quick Approval
7. 9- Quick Approval
I had a rep from the insurance company that I constantly stayed in touch with. She was probably ready to get rid of me.- Playstation For Some Exercise?
The sports game I do play against other's online. The other's I don't think I can. You would be suprised how much fun you can have and still get a workout in. I also play with my family every chance we get.- Playstation For Some Exercise?
I have an XBox 360 with Kinect. I use it for exercise. I have a couple workout games, sport games, dance games, and Zumba. With the Kinect you are the controller so it is really hard to cheat the game. I get a really good workout. I can do it on my schedule because it's in my house. I think it's a good idea to use these game consoles for exercise.- Quick Approval
My paperwork was submitted to the insurance company yesterday. I got my approval today!!!! I am so excited. I still have to get my A1C down to get cleared by my doctor, but as far as the insurance co goes, I am approved!!! I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. First hurdle cleared, it's all on me now. I have seen my daily numbers looking much better in the last 2 weeks. I am halfway to a surgery date. HOORAY!!!!- A Little Setback
My Dr. increased my Metformin today. Hopefully that will help. I am definitely going low carb high protein.- A Little Setback
Thanks for easing my mind some. This A1C thing is the last thing I need to do. I think I can do it. Now I just need to turn words into actions.- :(
I will be praying for you. This was truly a blessing that they found it now. I hope everything goes well.- A Little Setback
Hi all... I had a little setback today and I am trying to work through it. I went to get my clearance from my PCP today and he won't clear me until my A1C comes down. While my rational mind understands that a high A1C puts me at greater risk for infection and possibly a longer healing time, I'm sad and disappointed. I am having a hard time understanding how my A1C jumped 3 points from March to June. I have been losing fat and gaining muscle during this time. My PCP is working with me to get it back down. The surgeon's office is encouraging me and reassuring me that this is a minor setback. My family is doing the same. I am just a little discouraged about the outcome today. I know I can't give up, I'm just disappointed today. I though today would be the day we submit to insurance. Please tell me that someone else has had these little setbacks and things ended up okay in the end. I really need to hear that right now. Thanks... - Az Sleevers Pre And Post...
