  1. my surgeon recommends flintstones! but advice- get the actual flinstones, not the genric cuz they are huge and yucky!
  2. I'm seeing that every surgeon is different in what they require or what the insurance requires. List what you had to do and any notes... 1. Psych exam- I had to go twice because i did have an eating disorder when I was younger. 2. Upper GI- I have yet to get this, but hear its nothing. 3. Doppler study- this is when they run the ultrasound machine over my legs to check for clots. 4. Chest xray- takes two seconds! 5. Lab work- easy stuff. 6. Cardiologist- he found a small murmur, but said i'm OK for surgery. 7. Pulmonologist- my apt is this week. 8. Fit test- this was really neat and I think everyone should do it. It measures your bmi, body fat, Water weight, etc. apparently i have great muscle mass. and they give you your ideal target heart rate. 9. Attend at least one support meeting. So far I've attended two. it's great to meet people who are going through the same thing!
  3. I do not have my DOS yet, but was wondering....how much skin does everyone have "flapping" around? I am as active as a fat person could be now and plan to be even more active after....will i need to wear Spanx?
  4. the first thing everyone should answer is- i can't wait to get healthy after surgery. i want to get my diabetes under control. i want to breathe normal. I want to run and play with my four year old. I want to put on clothes and feel good about what I'm wearing. I want to walk into a room and have everyone stare, not because i'm fat, but because i'm fabulous! I also want to go horseback riding!
  5. i told my close friends. people that i knew would support me. as for the haters- they can keep on hating lol
  6. my surgeon requires an upper GI. and he does it himself! i'm not afraid.
