Deli Shaved Turkey
You should always go by your doctors post-op diet just to be safe. On my post-op diet I was allowed to have the turkey, cooked veggies and cheese in the mushy stage 21 days post-op. Raw veggies and more dense protien (like drier meats) after 6 weeks post-op.

Slowest Loser!
I'm 5 weeks post-op today and I've only lost 15 pounds. I am also starting feel like this surgery was a waist of time. I could have lost 15 pounds in five weeks on any other diet! My surgeon told me last week that I need to eat at least 1000 calories a day to speed up my weight loss. I was only getting 700 - 800 per day. I'm trying to stick to the 1000 calorie plan, 60 - 80 grams of protien and 48 - 64 oz of water as day. We'll see if the weight lose gets better I guess.

Being Honest 3 Wks Post-Op, No Dieting For Me
I usually get the Sobe at Kroger. I've seen it other grocery stores and even gas stations. As far as my schedule, I eat when I'm hungry but I try to not let myself get hungry if that makes sense. I usually have a protien shake in the morning, a mid morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner and usually a snack around 8pm. So, I eat 6 small meals a day. I eat protien at every meal and snack and if I don't eat a little protien around 8pm then I'm up in the night with hunger pangs. I eat mostly eggs, cheese, Beans and meat or fish. Fruit or applesauce with no sugar added helps me get my calories in if I need them and also gives me a little Fiber.

- Being Honest 3 Wks Post-Op, No Dieting For Me
I love Sobe Fuji Apple and Pear. It's really good. Also, I'm 5 weeks out and yes I do count calories. My surgeon told me last week that he wants me to eat at least 1000 calories a day to speed up my weight loss.- 3 Weeks Po And I Can Easily Eat 4 Oz Of Soft Foods?
I am 5 weeks post-op today and I also feel like I am able to eat too much. I don't have to chew and chew like I thought I would and I can pretty much drink water the way I always did. I haven't come across any food that I can't tolerate. Next week I'll be adding in more solid protien and raw veggies. Last night I had 4 turkey meatballs with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. It weighed 3.5 oz on my food scale. I ate it all and probably could have eaten another meatball but I stopped and I was satisfied. I told my NUT that I am hungry about every 2 hours and she said that is good. She also told me to eat at least 1000 calories a day to speed up my weight loss. I was only getting around 700 to 800 a day. I just really haven't had any problems since surgery and my weight loss isn't as fast as I thought it would be. I'm going to stick to the 1000 calories, 60 - 80 grams of protien and 48 - 64 oz of water and see if I start losing more. I guess slow and steady wins the race.- 1200-1500 Calories...really?
I am 4 weeks post op and my surgeon just told me that my weight lose is a little slow because I wasn't eating enough calories. He wants me to eat at least 1000 calories a day. He said my goal is 1000 to 1200 per day and at least 30 minutes of walking.- Protein Shakes - Liquid Or Food?
I'm 4 weeks post op and just this week my nutritionist told me not to count protien drinks as part of my daily fluid intake. My surgeon told me I need to be eating at least 1000 calories per day to have steady weight lose, get at least 48 to 64 oz of liquid and 60 - 80 grams of protien. I usually have to drink at least one shake a day to hit my protein goal.- Always Hungry And Wanting Carb!
I would think eating 4 or 5 times a day would keep your blood sugar level and keep you from having cravings. My NUT told me to never go longer than 5 hours without eating some kind of protein. I am also having sugar cravings and the NUT told me it was because I'm not eating enough good carbs.- Liquid Diet - What Yogurt Is The Best?
I like plain Fage 0% fat greek yogurt with a little unsweetened applesauce, a dash of cinnamon and a packet of splenda. If you buy the yogurt with fruit added it's way too high in sugar.- 1Mo Po & I've Gained Weight:(
My surgeon told me yesterday that my weight loss is slow because I'm not eating enough calories and my body is in starvation mode. He said I have to eat at least 1000 calories a day and I'm only 4 weeks post-op. He said 1000 - 1200 a day is the goal to lose weight.- Feeling Full
That full feeling in my throat or that pressure I feel in my chest is when I know I CAN NOT take another bite. I find myself eating too fast because I have a fiance and kids that do not take 30 minutes to eat their meals. They are learning to slow down and try to enjoy meal time with me.- Endoscopy
I had to have it done before surgery because I had acid reflux really bad and was on medication for it. My fiance is getting ready to have his sleeve done by the same doctor and he dosen't have to have it done because he never has heartburn or acid problems.- Fiber Intake And Stalls..
My doc says after 6 weeks (when I'm back on regular foods) to "aim for a high fiber eating plan by including non-starchy high fiber carbohydrates".- 85% Removal? Really?
Actually is says "it reduces the capacity by about 70%".- 85% Removal? Really?
I have also read a lot of things that say 85% but my surgeons info said they remove approx 70%. I also see a lot of people losing more quickly than I am. I'm 3 weeks post op and I've lost 12 pounds since the day of my surgery.- Any Self Pays Here Who Had Vsg Done In Pa Or Ohio Area?
My fiance is getting ready to have VSG in Cincinnati. The self pay total is $15,300 but the surgeon is very experienced. He did my surgery and I've no problems at all.- 7 Months Out And Oh It Hurts!
Did the doctor check for an ulcer?- What Is/was Your Favorite Blender Food Combo?
I used canned chicken breast and pureed it in my mini food processor with a little mayo, dijon mustard, salt, pepper and a little onion powder. It was very yummy and really hit the spot. You could also use tuna instead of chicken. I also made stuffed green peppers and pureed it with a little extra tomato sauce and it was really good.- Exercise 3 Weeks Out
I am 3 weeks post surgery right now. My doc told me to walk as much as I could. I am not allowed to lift more than 10 pounds or do any kind of core excercise until after 6 weeks.- 6 Days Post Op And Feeling Gas Pains Help?
Have you tried GasX? I was having really bad rumbling and pain after I started pureed foods and my doc told me GasX was ok to try.- 20 Minutes
My doc told me to take at least 30 minutes to eat a meal. I find that I eat too fast, it never takes me 30 minutes.- Encouragment
I was sleeved on 2/14. I lost 12 pounds the first week and now I'm up 2. I had my 2 week post-op visit yesterday and they told me it's just my body adjusting. I also stopped taking my blood pressure medicine because it has a Water pill in it and I was terrified of deydration. The Dr. told me I'm probably holding a little more water and adjusting to not taking the meds. I'm not seeing it on the scale but I can tell I'm losing lots of inches. I'm just hanging in there and trying to make sure I get all of my Protein and water in. I can start walking a little more now and I know it will start coming off soon. Stick with it, I'm sure we'll both start seeing the results very soon.- Too Many Calories?
I had this conversation with my NUT yestereday. She told me to not even think about calories, just focus on the protien. I start mushies on Monday. She told me I will probably be able to eat about 1/2 c. She did tell me that when I start adding in more solid protien and raw veggies at week 6 that I will feel fuller and not eat as much.- If You Could Take One Thing To The Hospital What Would It Be?
I know this is 2 things but I would say chapstick and a robe to wear when you're walking around. I took my phone and netbook too but didn't even need them. I was only in the hospital for one day and I slept a lot from the pain meds. - Being Honest 3 Wks Post-Op, No Dieting For Me
