  1. I love details! I'm looking forward to following your journey. I was sleeved on Feb 6th and feel so much better. Every day that passes is a much better day. I still struggle w protein drinks, i.e. Isopure and EAS. Today I had an Atkins Advantage drink and it was good. Then for dinner I made my first shake w a scoop of Jay Robb protein, milk and half a banana. So finding things I like is helping. I just have so much fatigue.....it hits me around 4:00.
  2. I've enjoyed your posts and hope you don't stay away long. You have a lot of friends on this board who will be praying for you. Take good care of yourself. You have my sincere sympathy with the loss of your mother-in-law. She sounds like a pretty wonderful lady.
  3. After 10 days, I started swallowing my thyroid....a little long narrow pill. I cut my heart rx in half. It was very small, too. Dr. approved me doing it. I couldn't tolerate the tastes smashed. He said, just not much bigger than that for now. He said it's very painful if it gets stuck. I've had no problem.
  4. I use the ap "Lose It" on my iPhone.
  5. Hi Chef, Do you brown you meat first for any of your recipes?
  6. I'm 3 wks and love my scrabbled eggs. I put a little cottage cheese in them tonight. I get to eat half while they are hot, but need to wait a bit for last half of cold ) : eggs.
  7. Congrats! I can hardly wait to join you!
  8. I started my third week yesterday and I can't believe what a difference another week makes. The best part is that I've had scrabbled eggs and some tuna. I am still down on my Protein intake. I have a hard time getting in 40gms of liquid Protein. Is there anyone else out there that has a hard time, too. I hope my hair doesn't fall out! My daughter got in all her protein and she still had lots of hair fall out. Just my left side is still sore. I've been working (desk job) about 5 hrs a day since last Thursday. I'm very tired by the time I come home. I'm just glad to know I see improvement in my energy and nurishment every day.
  9. I bought bananas tonight to try to disguise the taste.
  10. Go to the bar, order soup and play around w it while you eat it slowly. Tell him you've stopped drinking for one year.....it's just a personal decision. Order a water and enjoy your time. No one will be paying any attention to what you are eating. Have fun and don't let this surgery stop you from living.
  11. Dear Fitforlife, I'm starting my 3 week. What are some of the things you can recommend me eating? I, too, am having a hard time w drinking Isopure and Protein drinks.
  12. I was sleeved Feb 6th and I don't sleep totally on my sides. It's still too sore.
  13. Welcome to the board! I was self-pay, too, and it included 2 nights in the hospital. So you might be surprised and have your second night covered. I sure hope so.
  14. Just take it one day at a time.
  15. Praying for you & your wife. She's going to take great care of you. God bless you through this journey.
  16. I'm so sorry you girls have had problems. As far as dehydration goes, I get concerned for me, too. I find it very hard to drink all that liquid. I just know I need to keep a bottle of water w me at all times and sip, sip, sip.
  17. I'm a week ahead of you and I can't believe what a difference each day makes. I went to work today for 5 hrs. It was so good for me. I'm starting to feel normal. My biggest problem is getting in my Isopure. I think tomorrow, I'll start the EAS Protein drinks. I ate lentil soup today from Togo's. I mashed everything up real good with my teeth. I'm not suppose to start this type of soup for another week, but I just felt so weak cause I'm not getting enough calories. So hang in there. You'll feel better every day.
  18. What a great idea! You'll love Alaska!
  19. Momof4, Your hubby sounds great! You did a fantastic job reporting how your surgery has affected you. It's so wonderful for all of us, whatever stage we are in, to hear the voice of experience. I hit my one week yesterday. All I can say is, every single day you take one step in feeling better. Day 6 to Day 7 was a big jump for me. It was the first day I got my JP tube out and got out of p.j.'s. It was heavenly! My favorite thing is beef broth, second is Jell-O. Isopure is finely tolerable. My goal is to get up to 2 bottles a day. It's hard. I just don't want my hair falling out from being Protein deprived. )-:
  20. The first week is pretty tough. I was sleeved a week ago and I can't tell you much better I am at this time. Got my drain pulled out today (didn't hurt). I'm wearing real clothes.....not a nightie. Mentally, I'm doing better. Still having a hard time w all the liquids. Everything is just too sweet. My favorite is beef broth. I like the salty taste. You'll get better. You need to walk to get the gas out. I know you don't feel like it, but it works.
  21. You're a hottie! This was so encouraging for all of us newbies. Thank you!
  22. I had surgery Feb 6th, too. I'm down 11 lbs.!!!! That's from what I weighed before 2 days of pre-op liquid. Like my daughter said, "Those are 11 lbs. you'll never see again!
