Photonut, I too want to say thank you for pulling up that post. I will go back and read many of his post as they were inspirational to me then and will be more so now. Ryan was winning his battle with his weight. He just lost the battle with time. A battle we will all lose some time. And even though he was lossing the weight there were several areas that were not affect. They were his heart and his love for his wife Patty. These areas were hugh and he had no intention of getting rid of them. I found Ryan Death Notice and have posted it with Patty's permission: Ryan Lynn Webster Mar. 8, 1952-Aug. 8, 2006 Ryan Lynn Webster, age 54, of alma, passed away, Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. Ryan was born March 8, 1952 in Alma the son of Arthur and Julia (Shepard) Webster. He graduated from Alma High School in 1970 and learned his culinary skills apprenticing under Scott Martin. He married Patricia Kohn on July 25, 1993 at the First Church of God in Alma. He worked for 36 years as a chef helping start, Apple Mt. Resort, Canadian Lakes and the Soaring Eagle Restaurants. The past three years Ryan had been working for the State of Michigan as food Supervisor of the Carson City Prison. In 2003 he published a book "Havenwood". He also owned and operated several antique and used furniture stores in Alma and St. Louis. Ryan booked himself for children's birthday parties, weddings and many special events as Ry-Ry the Clown and Frilly the Fairy entertaining and making children and adults laugh. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his dog Abby. Ryan is survived by his wife Patty of Alma, a sister, Hazel "Jackie" (Clifford) Reynolds of Elsie, two brothers, Dan (Margaret) Howe of Shepherd and James (Nancy) Howe of Clare and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Ryan's life will take place Friday, August 11th at 11a.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma with Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating. Interment will be in Elm Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. at the funeral home.

It is with great sadness that I am reporting the Death of Ryan Webster, known here as WHIPPLEDADDY. Ryan's wife Patty called me tonight and informed me that last Tuesday, while Ryan was home recouperating from having a cancerous brain tumor removed, he suffered an embolism and passed away. Patty said it was a fast and peacful death. Ryan was scheduled to have had a cancerous kidney removed today and the possiblility of more cancer surgeries was a present. Maybe this was God's Way of keeping our friend from a long suffering. If you are religious please pray for Ryan and his Family, If you are not please have a good thought for Him and Patty.

Robin, your grand children look like twins. They are so cute...and i know cute New Sho...when I sent photos from the birthday party out on e-mail this pic with the cake was titled "It's mine papa...stay away" I will tell my son and his wife about sending in the pics. Melody. You know my band didn't bother me one bit during daughter in laws pregnancy or deliver. So go ahead have at it. They are worth it.

OK Darcy....you asked for. These are the eyes that cut right to papa's heart. Oh can you see where she gets her good looks from...LOL Libra, Your son is so cute too. I love when they get into "Stuff"... But I have an advantage. I give her back to mom and dad....lol

For those who know me you are fimiliar with my story. For anyone else a brief re cap. My oldest son got married in Oct of 2003 and I relaized after seeing the photos and videos I was in trouble. I knew I'd never live to see my grandchildern and I finially went after a solution. After researching I settled on the lapband and had my surgery in 2004. Would I do it again is a question I am often asked and I answer before the question is done "YES in a heart beat" and why do I answer that. Well look at this: Its what made it all worth it. My first granchild who was born July 27,2005 just turned one:

NewSho I too was in Vegas recently and you didn't see me post anything about drinking. WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS....lol And since it does there can't be any calories because they should stay in Vegas too

Kate, Drinking should be cut back for the major reason alcohol is high in calories. Its tough when you see how much food you have to give up to compensate for the alcohol. My Dr's don't want us to drink because of this but they leave it up to each patient. I cannot drink beer anymore as I have trouble with the carbination. Same with soda pops. I do have an occassional Rum and diet coke as long as I can use caffine free diet coke. If it is poured out of a bottle I stir the carbination out of it and then add the rum. If I'm at a bar the fountain drinks they use for mixing are less carbinated so that works fine. Hope that helps you.

I am putting this on here for support for a freind. As many of you know whippledaddy has posted here many times and has always shown everyone support. Well he is in need of your support and prayers. On July 20th Ryan had emergency brain surgery. It was found that he had a had a cancerous tumor on his brain. During the surgery they were able to remove it all. He now has to have raditation on it, then have his left kindney taken out because that is were the cancer started. He alert and orientated and very positive about this for he is a healthy man with cancer. He is still in the hospital getting rehab as he has lost the use of his right side after surgery. Dr says that it will all come back and in three days of rehab his wife PAtty reports she sees a big improvement. Hopefully he will be home by Aug. 10th. Then he will start radiation on the brain. Please keep him in your prayers.

I put him in Our Church Prayer Registry and the whole congregartion said prayers for him today at three Masses. Will continue praying for him until he is better...And then some

Just had another 1/2 cc put in my band before I went to Vegas for 9 days. I felt I needed the tight restrictions to keep me out of the food. It worked. Lost 4 pounds while I was there and wanted for nothing. But a few times I felt that I wanted to PB but fought it off each time.

I have posted on other sites a few facts on alcohol. 1st: before I retired as a police officer, alcohol enforcement and fatal crash investigations were my specilties. Since 1990 I have been involved at a local college as an instructor in what is called Standardize Field Sobriety Testing...I teach cops how to locate, field test, arrest and prosecute drink driviers. Part of our teaching tools is we actually pay people to come to the college and drink to the point of intoxication so that the police officer students can do the test on subjects who are intoxicated. In my career as an instructor I have dosed up over 3,000 people from sobriety to intoxication. I have also been involved in many studies about alcohol and its effects. Since I have been banded I have had to give up drinking any carbonated products. And I Loved my beer. I can't drink rum and coke unless I would flatten the coke out before drinking it. So I do straight liquor now. I have never found a wine I like. I don't drink to the point of intoxication and I haven't for many years. But I can give you a few hints about what you can do to keep from getting sick. Well # 1 don't drink too much. #2. Eat starcy foods a few hours before you start drinking. #3. Eat cheese before you drink and this will slow down the rate the alcohol passed thru your stomach into the intestines. It is in the intestines where 80% of the alcohol gets absorbed into your blood. But remember to eat and chew the cheese well as it has to get thru the stoma to the lower stomch so it can block the poloric valve. #4. After a few drinks drink a glass (8oz) of Water. Not only will this help the rate of intoxication slow down, but it will also help keep your brain hydrated and will reduce your hangover effect in the am. #5. Drinks with citris acid, Orange juice, grapefruit juice and the like will also slow down the rate alcohol gets into your blood strem. #6. If you eat cheese before you go drinking stay away from any coke or pepsi produces becasue they accellerate the rate at which the cheese breaks up and will counteract what you want the cheese to do. As Megan says your intoxication level is directly related to your weight so as you lose weight you will not be able to drink as many drinks. Men will be able to drink more then a woman of the same weight because a man's body is made up of more water then a womans. (this is not the case during menstration...the woman will be able to drink more). One 12 oz beer, one 6oz glass of wine and one jigger 45 ml (1 1/2 oz) of 86 proof alcohol are all equal and count as one drink. Basically a 150 man will have a blood alcohol level of .10 if he has 4 drinks in his system...Since you lose approximately one drink for every hour you drink a 150 man would have to drink 6 drinkS in a two hour period to be .10 There are other factors that can cause blood alcohol consentrations to raise like how much food you have eaten, stress levels etc. JUST REMEMBER FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (traditional plan) and my Dr's office says as long as I lose 100 pounds and keep it off for a period of time the insurance co will pay for the plastic surgery if the Dr deems it necessary. Not sure what the time period is but I think its 6 months you have to hold that loss. Because the area I want worked on it the skin hang and fat below my belt line it will be covered because the Dr says that area has numerous infections and health problems due to the continual mositiure in this area. So I'm working on the last bit of weight to get to the 100 pound loss then will start the paperwork for my surgery.

Blossom, Its been one year since you were taken from your family and your friends. We all know you are missed tremendously by them as you are missed by your large group of friends here. Your memories will keep you alive in our hearts. Will always think of you when I sign on this site.

TEACHERS LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE....IT JUST ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL. Let me start off by saying that I LOVE teachers. They in my opinion should be the highest paid profession as they form the future. (and I don't say that because I teach at a local college) But they need to stick to teaching. Oh I believe when they see things that need to be reported they do so. But they should not do the diagnosis on our children. I spent thousands of dollars on two of my children that teachers insisted were ADD Kids....Turns out after many test that my kids were in fact not ADD...Honestly I don't think they liked the school settings. My son did poorly during the years he was continueally told by his teachers that he had problems. Once he graduated and enter the college setting he excelled in his studies and graduated with honors. My daughter was removed from High School after her junior year and was home schooled for her senior year. Fortunately I had the time to do this with her and she passed even my expectations. She also has gone on to college and is doing extremely well. If there is an indication that your child has any type medical or mental health issues seek professional help.

You can see what a wonderful person Blossom was that she has touched so many of us here and everywhere she went. Its hard to believe a year has passed she her physical being has left us...But she is really not gone. Say me a warm seat My friend...Memories may be all we have but they are as powerful as a physical presence when we want them to be.

I have a 4 cc band and have had four fills 1/2 cc then another 1/2 and then 1 cc and the last fill was 1 cc. This was over a period of 8 months after my band was put on. I wish I could have had restriction from the beginning but I understand that its not the same for everyone and the Dr's can't just load it up. Its better to get small fills till you get to your "SWEET SPOT". Once your there its great. I have good restriction. Its bad food choices that have given me pause with my losing weight. But I'm bad being a good boy and hopefully I'll get rid of the few pounds I picked up soon and then go from there.

I may be a retired cop but I still each Alcohol and Drug driving Laws to Police Officers in Michigan. Your in a situation no one wants to be in. I think your Tough Love approach is the best. It is your house and your rules must be followed. Jenna as you know every state has different Laws on possession. In Michigan There is a new law for Drugs and driving. If one person is in possession in the vehicle all are charged. Vehicles are confiscated and forfieted all the time. The law is designed to make everyone else in the car check thier friends so no one is in possession. Our tough approach here has created, for the last four years, a steady decrease in deaths in cars from alcohol and drug use. He, his wife, the baby or even worst all three could be the victims with his use of the marijuana.

I have four kids and didn't feel a thing in any of the child births. I was back at work in two days. Had very little pain and took no pain meds.
