Just introducing myself - surgery 1/24
Welcome LaurenThat child should be all you need to say to figure out how you will handle it. With modivation like that you will just do it when your new tool is installed. My modivation was due to feeling I'd not be around to see my grandchildren when they arrive. I got banded and have pretty much destroyed all my bad eating habits. And I truely believe God has Blessed me for this decision as my first grandchild is going to be born on/or near July 25th. Nancy was right when she said we no longer diet. What I am doing is eating properly for a male who weights 190/200 pounds. And because my band restricts me from over eating I just listen to it when it tells me no more and I lose weight. Making the right choices is hard but I think everyone will tell you that when you see weight start to come off you get with the program a little more each time. We're all human and have our slips(no Becky I'm not offering to wear a slip). But I find when I do make a bad choice I am more willing to stop and get back on track then I ever was before. No more feeling like a failure in my diet because I'm not on a diet and normal weight people eat things that really aren't healthy once in awhile. So I just get over it and put it behind. Good Luck and God Bless

30-50% Weight Loss????
I was banded In Aug/2004 and the charts say I should be 190. So I have 140 pounds to lose to reach this mark. Like Becky I don't believe 190 is where I want to be and I want to reach 220 pounds. If I go by medical charts I have already dropped 53% of my excess weight. If I look at where I want to be I have lost 68%. And I haven't even been banded 6 months yet. Like others here have said If for some reason I didn't lose another pound I'd be satisfied with what I have done by being banded. For several reasons and here are a few: #1- I haven't felt this good in many many years. #2- My surgery was less invasive then RNY. #3- My stomach is still accessable to the medical community in the event I develope ulcers/cancer. With other surgeries the stomach is closed and treatment for any ailments involves more surgery. #4- I take, by my own choice, one vitiman a day and not numerous suppliments. #4- My body uses its own system in the normal process of digestion and waste production. I could go on and on...But the choice for you is personal and you have to make it. One morbid note...Go to obesityhelp.com and look at thier memorial page and see how many deaths they have posted. Then read about the people and see what surgeries they had. No very many Lapbanders in there. That tells me right there I made the right choice. Good Luck and God Bless

NSV anyone?
I know this may seem silly to you but I have for years had a fear of escalators. I carried a lot of my weight in belly and chest area so I always felt top heavy. When ever I had to get on an escalator (down) I would stand there grab both rails and carefull get on and hold with at least one hand. Always afraid I was going to fall. Well I went to Sears this evening to pick up something and I took up escalator, which I never had trouble with. Bought what I needed and then headed to down escalator. Got to it and just stepped onto the thing without grabbing the rail and didn't even realize it till I put second foot on the step. Didn't have that top heavy feeling and also didn't feel like falling. Went back up and did it again. Hope they didn't have me on the security camera casue I was laughing on second ride down.

One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?
WHAT the Challenge is over. HMMMMMMMMM I thought it started on Jan 3rd. Ops... I will get everything complied as best I can. I do apoligize but due to several family matters and the busy holidays I didn't keep up well with the stats. And also not everyone sent me their stuff HMM. But I will get the stuff I have figured out soon. When I offered to keep stats I fighured I'd be able to run the stuff when I was at work then they went and hired a new girl and she is there with me every nite training. But then I am a man so not much is expected lol
