Rude awakenings....
How does Protonix compare to Prilosec? I have not been consistent with taking ppi, have not really settled on one. Thanks!

Once post op, is it easy to control your weight? For example, can you choose to gain and lose at will?
Good question. I believe I can lose or gain easier now. I know what to do either way. I would say that, unlike before, it is a bit easier to lose it than to gain it. Why? To gain weight I would have to eat things I don't really like and often. I like Protein and low glycemic vegetables. I don't like sweets or empty carbs. I would also have to be somewhat sedentary. To lose it I just have to eat a bit less and move more. Easy, peasy.

Does your husband/boyfriend love plus sized woman? And now?!?!?!?!?
I am a man who preferred a slim woman, then changed to a man who preferred a chunky woman, then changed back into a guy who preferred a slim woman. Yup...same woman.

Have you ever been chastised by another doctor for having weight loss surgery?
Why I chew up tablets no matter how gross and prefer quick dissolve or liquid capsules.

Naaa Starbucks is out. I have a Keurig with about 100 K-cups cranking pretty regular. coffee is OK down the line. Gotta watch the acid though and the sugars.

Have you ever been chastised by another doctor for having weight loss surgery?
What a maroon!...Bugs Bunny Yes, my urologist and lead man in my prostate cancer treatment was reluctant to OK my surgery stating that it was "too hard on the body". This is the guy that made me wear a catheter for 2 weeks for nothing, made me get nasty Lupron injections which killed my testosterone, recommended 45 radiation treatments and ok'd chemotherapy. With all that he promised me I would be dead 3 years ago. Hard on the body? I know that losing the fat lessens the chance of re-occurance. He didn't talk about that.

loving this new body i once had
Wife and I went through brief alarm about possible growths springing up on us, relieved to realize they were long forgotten bones surfacing.

Fluffnomore gave you the definitive list. There is a PDF of good advice in my signature, too.

how in the world?
Ya never know what your body is thinking. Your body could retain 5 pounds of water just because you watched Lawrence of Arabia. Ok, probably not, ......never mind.

Rude awakenings....
It normally happens pretty close to after I have eaten, regardless of the time. When I take a nap in the daytime urps occur just like at night. I must leave time before sleeping to not eat. Getting goosey-loosey on my discipline recently, gained 5 pounds. Some of it may be muscle but it's time to batten down the hatches anyway. I kicked fatso outa here, he ain't gettin back in.

Goal- adds more discipline?
Interesting question. Lottery winners by and large blow their money. There are some that keep their wits about them and preserve their lives in the process. Power is difficult to handle without a sense of self and a firm grasp on one's identity. Money is power. If you know who you are and what you stand for money will not destroy you, if you dive without restraint into all that money can buy you it will sweep you away like a tsunami. Losing the fat is like winning the lottery. It comes on you relatively fast. Your body changes..becomes stronger, more healthy and more attractive. You have power that perhaps you never had or hadn't had for a long time. You can take the power for granted and go right back to over eating and other destructive indulgences or you can recognize it for the gift it is and preserve it as a treasure. When I reached goal I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I thought my life was over, it was not. I was given another chance at living and contributing. That is one of the reasons I am a host on this forum. If you value your gift you will protect it. All my best to you!

Rude awakenings....
hmmm...I take melatonin to aid my sleep, a habit I picked up when I worked 3rd shift at the Juvenile Jail. Maybe it puts me out too much and digestion is halted. Where have I been? I have been frolicking hither, thither, and yon, spreading gmanbatness on all unsuspecting recipients of nonsensical folderol. How you been?

Rude awakenings....
Time to fess up...I eat too late sometimes. How do I know it is too late? I wake up choking on vomit. Apparently my stomach, "The Bouncer", doesn't care if I am awake or asleep when he does his thing. Being a child of the 60's I think of Jimi Hendrix who experienced this but was drugged out with Vesparax and didn't wake up. I wake up...quickly...whether I'm involved in the flying monkey vs unicorn war or dumping Marylin Monroe, choking on vomit is an eye opener..the dream is over. After getting it out I have a period of coughing, the vomit burns my throat something fierce and I have the feeling that it is not all out even though it probably is. Anyone else experience sleevy jerking you up during REM?

what makes someone looks unhealthy after WLS?

what makes someone looks unhealthy after WLS?
It seems what Isereno said is the rule. Fat comes off different places at different rates. Fat comes off of the face quickly with some people giving them a drastic change. In my case the belly was the last to go. Most folks are saying the "sickly" look goes away after fat rebounds a bit and things even out. LL, you do look unhealthy...unhealthy for me if my wife catches me looking at your picture too much.

I may have lost a client because I am no longer fat! HA!
There are lots on nudist colonies here in Florida. Tattoos really help when meeting in StarbuckNakeds.

Preparation for weeks post op? Advice.

Did I stretch? (venting, mostly)
Beach lover is right. Stretching is something that is not that easy to do. Our remaining stomach is mostly muscle. The part they took out is the stretchy part. If a person is to blow it with a sleeve it would probably be by eating very often, not by eating too much at one time.

I've lost 15lbs since I got pregnant... wth?!
I would say the added food fixed your metabolism, made your set point go up. Sometimes more leads to less! Congratulations on the baby!

My mind is beating me up...
The scale is but one voice among many. Blood pressure, pulse count, blood chemistry, measurements, strength, all are valid indicators and I would say better ones. Exercise, proper Water intake, rest, getting enough food of the right kind, all set the metabolism to get rid of the last holdouts of fat. I am in the place of try to figure out what is fat and what is loose skin. I am already past goal but would like to get rid of any excess fat.
