  1. In the mushy stage I loved egg drop soup. Protein there and mucho flavor. Also check this thread out: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291922-alternatives-to-protein-shakes-full-liquids-soft-foods/
  2. Smacked my wife this morning. I couldn't tell if she was still there because since she lost her weight she doesn't make much of a bulge in the bed. I felt over there a little too quickly to make sure and she hollered, "Ouch!" The victory is that she didn't hit me back.
  3. I don't think you or anybody else has been censored at all. But I do feel there are certain subforums dedicated to certain groups to discuss their commonalities. Amongst others, there is a religious forum to discuss your faith and devotion to god. And this is not it. Just like men are asked to stay out of the powder room and women are asked to stay out of the mans room.
  4. That's basically what I was thinking. The special interest support groups seem to be set up for people of a certain viewpoint or common situation to support each other in their WLS issues. Having those with differing views come in and argue about the foundation of the forums defeats their purpose. The Lounge perhaps would be a better place for theological arguments.
  5. We need to bring up with Alex the rule about this. These are support groups for a certain point of view with VSG as the center, not necessarily a debate area as I read the introduction. This particular original post had both points of view, rather unique. Should atheists keep to their own area and religious to their own?
  6. Hi, Christine! Quite a thread you came into! No worries! Welcome! GMan, were you a Gman by profession?
  7. Thanks for sharing! Hope everything goes well for you in the future!
  8. Ya, everything is a trade-off. Amazingly, the mosquitoes here a much less oppressive than Ohio, can't tell you for sure why other than that they spray for them here. The heat here is a blessing to my joints, cold gives me ouchies. Much more to do here, lotsa fun stuff, diverse races and ethnicities, sunlight, no state tax. Traffic...yes..especially around Orlando. But like they say here, there's a reason for the crowds.
  9. Yup, Siesta Key is one of the few beaches that won't burn your feet, the sand is so white it reflects the light away. You got that right about poison spreading to inconvenient places. I managed to avoid that. Believe me, it was on my mind!
  10. I got some tecnu extreme medicated poison ivy scrub and have to use it twice a day to maintain sanity. In the picture I have calamine lotion on which helps a bit, too. I have it on both arms, belly, and legs. I put my picture up on facebook to make my snowbound northern friends feel better about not being in sunny Florida. My niece then told me she got it in December from a log she threw into the fireplace!
  11. Careful this could just be that kind of day gman! uh, oh! Back in bed, turn the electric blanket to 7.
  12. I posted a pic, didn't show up, edited, it made a new duplicate thread with the pic.
  13. Poison Ivy....in December! Wanna trade? Florida...it's not all paradise!
  14. The battles you win add up even if you lose a battle...fall down....get back up.....keep fighting...war won.
  15. I was thinking about the Jerry Springer shows I have seen. Some lady comes on with a jerk husband and the audience yells, "Dump him!" They can't understand her reluctance. Why? They don't feel what she feels. You have gone through much with your weight problem. You didn't jump into this on a whim, you have much good reasoning behind it. You are motivated and determined, you have the courage to make a move like this. The folks that ask you, "Are you sure you want to do this?" do not come from where you do. They can't feel what you feel, they don't know what you know, they don't have the guts that you have mustered up. All they are saying is..."That is scary!"...I wouldn't do it". Of course not, they have not been prepared by life and intelligence like you have.
  16. We've had a number of teenagers come here who have had this surgery. We also have old folks like me who have had it and anything in between. I am as active now at 64 as I was in my 20's. I am lean and mean, only thing holding me back is....my back...and other joints. If I can solve that problem, no stopping me.
  17. If anyone who gets this operation and doesn't have misgivings I would say cancel the operation and get psychiatric therapy instead. This is a big move, our sense of self-preservation both gets us into this and makes us question whether to go through with it. It's not real until it happens..it's happening. Most of the battles I have been in were not as bad as the contemplation of them before they started. Hang on, DreaE, you got this.
  18. ya, but you're cute...ok, so is butter...
  19. Well, I feel pretty embarassed and stupid right now. Might have to reconsider the whole deal. Sorry if I offended anyone. Totally in jest Gman. Don't be offended. Wait...did someone say chicken? I miss Popeye's. Guess I'm a little over sensitive tonight. I haven't been called a chicken since 5th grade.
  20. Well, I feel pretty embarassed and stupid right now. Might have to reconsider the whole deal. Sorry if I offended anyone.
  21. What we need is a diabetic with PCOS, who is also an atheist, single, religious, biker, gay, bisexual, lesbian, transexual in the 12 step program with mental health issues who has crossover addictions. I might consider trying to conform to all of those for the sake of objectivity but I would not live through it. The main sticking point would be the singles section...my wife would consign me to the ground.
  22. Lol!!! A minister overseeing the atheist/agnostic Forum??! Now I have seen everything @BP.com It is quite a convergence of conflicting ideologies within my mind. On one hand I am inextricably involved with my relationship with Christ and love to share Him. On the other hand, I respect the sovereignty of will and choice that all people are entitled to and in no way want to violate that line of respect. Then, as a host, I must maintain objectivity and a measure of detachment. I have had extensive discussions with atheists on both scientific and theological grounds and have most enjoyed the ones that remained civil. I, in fact, have considered myself an atheist in my past and as a minister since the 70's have had very deep doubts at times. Somehow my faith holds and remains a bastion of joy in my life, but I can empathize with opposing points of view. Then there is the fact that I am very fond of the folks I've come to know on the forum. I know that religion can easily cause rifts in relationships and I certainly don't want that to happen. My job is to maintain reasonable peace without jumping on sides. I think I can do that. Might not be easy, though, especially when I know I am always right. Edit: I am watching a Bulls game as I write this. There are guys on the floor with whistles who are running back and forth. They might be Bulls fans but dare let that be a factor on their decisions. That's me.
  23. How about a birthday prayer that God will bless you with another year and a successful surgery and healthy recovery:) we r here for u. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Thanks so much! I am one of the new hosts here, I had my surgery in 2010 and indeed it was successful. This is one of three forum areas that I oversee along with other vets. I could really use the prayer for another year. I am already several years past where my cancer docs predicted I would die. I am as healthy as I was in my 20's now, God's grace and this surgery has brought me back from the brink.
  24. Fantastic! Well done! Your advice is sound and your results speak for themselves I celebrate with you!
