  1. I was diagnosed with apnea after suffering pneumonia in the hospital. The test was too close to my pneumonia in my opinion and making me sleep on my back which I never do compounded the problem. After sleeving the thing burned my nose, hydrator acting up or something and I got mad and abandoned it. I have lost 30 pounds since and don't think I need it. My biggest test is having the wife stay up and watch me. She has no problem telling me when I'm out of whack.
  2. I am from Waterloo originally, Jerry. Praying that all goes well for you.
  3. There are more homes in the US with dogs but more cats in the country. Why? Most homes with cats have more than one. Why? CATS ACCUMULATE!! They have some kind of telepathic power that calls cats in and puts suggestions in your subconscious to get more. We started with CoCo Puff. We "decided" to get him a companion so we got Tigger from a farm. Then Spoticus wandered in from a field and attached himself to the horde. We then "had the bright idea to go to a cat show", telling ourselves that 3 cats was quite enough and resolved to go no further. But then the humane society had ribbons all over Clepatra's cage,(we later renamed her Cleocatra). Amazing that a one-eyed black cat could earn such awards but we bit on it after some displays of affection and no doubt some telepathy from the feline in question. We are determined that 4 is all. But who knows what the combined mental pressure of the 4 will do to our weakened will.
  4. It would seem that the one visit psychiatric session is designed to dig out your potentials for failure rather than help you work out your mental state for the struggle to come. In the psychiatrist I had, he, it seemed, had more issues than most of the people he talked to as testified to by many people in the support group meetings. I don't say be untruthful but if you expect the psychiatrist to help you work out your problems know that his prime directive is to weed you out. The bariatric surgeon and his/her staff should have long known if you have unrealistic expectations through their preliminary assessments.
  5. Hi DcMak72, My psych eval was a problem. It turned out it wasn't to help me in my weight loss but a pure screening process in behalf of the insurance company. I made the mistake of telling the psych that used to be a hippie and I did drugs for about 11/2 years IN THE 60's! Clean ever since. It was enough for the insurance company to reject me. They later accepted me after the bariatric doc appealed. I advise you to be careful what you say.
  6. I sure don't have anorexia. I never minded being a fat guy except for no energy, no breath, ill fitting clothes, diabetes, high blood pressure, and various other health issues. But the fat hid my wrinkles.
  7. Awesome! Your family reminds me of my Dutch friend who immigrated from Canada. I met his family and the whole group, sisters, brothers, dad and mom were tall cedars. Wonderful kind and intelligent people. My friend is 6'6" and he married a woman who was 5"2". They were and are one of the best matches I've ever seen. Their hearts match, that's where it counts.
  8. My apologies to any tall gals out there for the lumbering giant thing. You gals are beautiful, too, you know you are. My daughter is tall and she is a looker.
  9. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average height for an adult female in the United States is: 63.8 inches, or 5 feet 3.8 inches You are taller than the average women in many countries like India, Brazil, China, Columbia, etc. and not much shorter than the rest. Europeans seem to be the tallest but still not that much taller than you. The gals you are comparing yourself to must be lumbering giants like me.
  10. People's tastes are different, aren't they? I actually like the taste of Lortab. I guess it could be a conditioned response, I know I'll feel better and will be in a better mood after dosage. At one time in my life I liked smoking and wiskey, too. :ack2:
  11. I got Omeprazole to keep away heartburn and Lortab. That's it except for my blood pressure meds and a small D3 capsule that I now take. I have chewable multi-vitamins, (Celebrate) and chewable calcium, (Calcet).
  12. I'll get my 2" height loss back one way or another. If not by spinal decompression then by cowboy boots.
  13. As I remember it through the chemical fog in recovery the nurses were "strongly encouraging" me to breathe as well. I am out about 3 weeks and my belly still growls a bit when I drink Water. I try to burp when it does that and in my mind at least it seems to help. I am puzzled why they did not give you Lortab or some other liquid pain killer. It is quite a friend, no problem consuming. The advice already given is very good. You may have tough times as I have but the sense of victory you recieve when buying new clothes makes it more than worth the struggle. You will notice many empowerments returning to you. If you were once slim it will be like going back in time without a Delorean !
  14. When I was younger I was 6'4". When I got fat I went down to 6'2". I am just wondering if anyone got some height back after losing the extra pull of gravity. Or do I need to hang myself in the closet like Barney Fife getting taller for the deputies test?
  15. My wife got my wedding ring out for me and I put it back on, (we had taken it off for the operation). It is just barely staying on, another 10-15 pounds and it will be falling off. My belt, which I had to put another notch in because the regular holes didn't allow enough slack, is now too big. I went through all the notches quickly and will have to drill again or get a new belt. My watch was painful to wear and left marks when I took it off, now slides up my arm and I can easily put a finger between the watch and my wrist. All my shirts are either too big or fitting fine. I can now shop somewhere besides Goodwill. I think the fat is coming off everywhere. The belly is the last to go because there is just more there.
  16. Hi, there. Hey, I live in a household with my wife, daughter, and two granddaughters. The only males here are three of our four cats: Coco Puff, Tigger, and Spoticus. Cleocatra rounds out the females.
  17. How about a Grinch? :ack2:
  18. Good for you, Mater! I had my gall bladder out too. Unfortunately it flaired up bad about 3 weeks before my sleeve surgery so I got 2 operations. I had a rough night last night and today but I am pretty sure it is not related to the sleeve. I caught a stomach flu that is going around and so did my 2 granddaughters and my daughter who live with me. We are all bazookas, out both ends, quite unpleasant. A bunch of sick puppies here.
  19. Thanks, sleevers! I did an intense workout last night at the Rec Center. Walked briskly 25 minutes with 5 pounders in hands, even did some running. After that, a full body workout with machines and free weights. Only problem was I was so revved up it was difficult to sleep. I must endeavor to workout earlier in the day to allow myself time to ramp down. I am amazed that so little food could produce so much energy. I discover that I have completely misunderstood the nature of food and energy all of my high-volume-intake life.
  20. Just hit the 50 pounds loss mark! I am pulling out shirts that my wife wouldn't let me wear before because my big belly pulled the shirt up and the bottom of my belly was exposed. Now it tucks in nicely in my new size 42 pants, down from size 50. Now I can tie my shoes without my eyes bulging out like a frightened frog. I can't wait to go back to Universal Studios and get right on the rides without worrying if I would be turned away because they couldn't get the bar down. This is hard at times but the benefits outweigh the liabilities by a huge margin. 60 more pounds to my goal of 220 pounds of ripped-ness!
  21. Not unless you go through areas with lots of gas stations and you are a pretty good sprinter.
  22. Thanks, I figured there would be some cautions with this, pretty effective stuff. I will only use it if I have to and not in on consecutive days..
  23. I am not necessarily recommending this for everyone and experts on these ingredients please chime in with any objections . I have a cure for the frequent constipation that seems to occur after surgery. We bought some Herbal Slimming Tea at Big Lots, very cheap. The active ingredients are: Senna leaves, Malva leaves, Panax Ginseng, and Stevia leaves. A cup of this and about 6 hours later it's show time. Takes about a half hour before the sessions are over. I suggest a half cup to start with. If you go this route be sure to set aside the time, don't make big plans somewhere, could be embarrassing. I only do this every few days out of fear that it may be habit forming.
