mick got a reaction from HealthyPursuit in Nirav Naik, M.D. Bakersfield, CA
    I really like this guy!
Beginning with my initial appointment he has remained so patient and attentive to my questions and concerns. My wife and daughters were a little anxious for me and expressed their concerns to me about going through with this gastric sleeve surgery but Dr. Naik's confidence helped me make the right decision and relieved my anxieties.
I could not ask for a better aftercare program. His support is invaluable to me. He has given me 24 hr access to him.
I wish I had had this kind of attention and aftercare when I had my heart surgery a few years ago.

I have Kaiser but he is not a "Kaiser doctor" but he does take Kaiser insurance.

mick got a reaction from lexiemia in Acid reflux-will it go away?
I had it bad before my surgery. It started after my heary surgey in '05. If I did not take Prilosec every day I would wake up with acid reflux or whatever, in the middle of the night.
When I asked my doc about continuing to take Prilosec post op he told me that I may have some kind of hiatal hernia. He said if that was the case he would repair it when he did my sleeve. He later told me that I did have one and that he had repaired it.
I have not had acid reflux or heart burn since my surgery.

I was on a date last night. She ordered a chicken fried steak, baked potato, steamed broccoli and Texas cheese toast.
I ate about one fifth of her chicken fried steak or about two fingers almost and a couple of bites of her baked potato and a few small broccoli tops. Stuffed!
    Had a good time!

I hate to admit it but it happened to me again this morning. Lots of pain and could not pass anything.
After the horrible experience a couple of weeks ago I swore that I would be careful to not let that happen again.
This morning I found myself in the same situation! This time was worse. I already had an appoitment with the nutritionist and a PA scheduled for this morning. I tried to cancel the appointment but they talked me into coming in even though I was miserable. Glad I did. Xrays indicated I was impacted so they gave me an enema. Wow! What a relief.
The nutritionist told me to cut my Protein shakes in half, just 1 a day, and to try to get a lot more Fiber in my diet by eating fresh fruit without the peelings.
She said a lot more but after the very painful time I had this morning and then the four hrs at the clinic I just want to lay down and take a nap.
Maybe I can share some of the other stuff she said later

Any drug store should have the glycerin suppositories. Be sure to get some kind of lubricant such as KY Jell. This was the advice from the nurse I called.
The cherry flavored Milk of Magnesia was easy to take too.
You may want to Google "Milk of Magnesia vs Miralax" and see how differently they work. I was surprised at how gentle Milk of Magnesia works. Takes about 6 hrs to work. Nurse said 8 hrs but it was a little sooner for me.
I would do something asap. They warned us in class that if you get too impacted you would have to go in and get it literally dug out. I seriously thought I was going to have to do that. Thank God the suppositories worked.
BTW Laugh if you want to but I was praying to poop and thanking God when I finally did.

Had a horrible afternoon and night sitting on the pot until my legs went to sleep several times. I tried the Milk of Magnesia but found out later that it takes about 8 hrs to start working. I have dealt with a lot of pain but nothing like this. I thought I would have to go to urgent care.
I finally called the Kaiser advice nurse, don't know why i did not do it sooner. It took them almost two hrs to get back to me. The nurse told me to try glycerin suppositories before I tried an enema. That finally did the trick a couple of hrs later.
I am sharing this because if this happens to anyone, it is no joke. Horribly painful.
I am really thankful for all of the advice from all of you.

Don't sweat the small the stuff. No one will remember in a day or two. Welcome and don't worry too much about loose skin. I have previously lost most of my weight and gotten down to around 155 (oh yes, I gained it all back thankyouverymuch which is why I'm here and getting surgery) and I had a little loose skin but it wasn't excessive or painful. And I didn't have any rashes or anything. It was nothing a little Spanx couldn't fix. It's better to feel good, be healthy and look good in clothing.

This is a site that offers information, experiences and compassion. However! There are those who do not know how to write their feelings down with tact. There are those that sugar coat everything and others that hit you right between the eyes.
Don't apologize for your point of view but be prepared for several view points on what you say. You are not wrong in your thinking as far as being so soon out of surgery to do those things. But it is out there as a question and a fact. A learning example of experience or knowledge of the procedure.
Continue to question or relate your knowledge as you experience it and take no comments personally.
There are thousands of people on here in different stages of surgery and like the poster said before some are emotional wrecks. Some just want to do what they want. Others are really wanting to know what to do. And others somewhere in between.
Nothing regarding WLS has prepared me for it more then experiencing it. But that is just me. I don't think that you need to feel bad unless you name called.....
Don't pull away. Just find what you need on here as others do and stay away from the bullies. They are on every forum. But there are a lot of helpful, well meaning people on here that truly want to help.....

My plan is to enjoy good family fellowship, eat what ever I like and pay close attention to when i am starting to feel full.
I may eat more than I should but it will take all day to do it and certainly not at one sitting like I used to do.
    Just being truthful.

This will be my second Thanksgiving living as a BANDED person. My plan is to let the band do its work.....In other words, I will NOT be able to gorge, overeat, or stuff myself, so I will eat a small amount of what I want to eat......turkey, oyster dressing, green Beans, and a baked sweet potato. I'm cooking for 25 people, so some things never change!!!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all of my BARIATRICPAL friends.

I am a year out (sleeve) and I can still only eat 6 ounces at the absolute most in one sitting, so I'll just be having very small amounts of everything and just being mindful of when I start to feel that I've had enough and ending my meal there. No grazing, no snacking during the day. The few traditional 'sweets' I made (cranberry bread and pumpkin pie) were made with splenda instead of real sugar, and we typically don't eat things like candied yams or mac and cheese anyway. I'm just most excited for the spinach quiche and turkey!
