I wish that someone would have let me know just how emotionally challenging rapid weight loss can be. I've been fat for 32 years, and these quick changes are wonderful, but a bit unnerving. Maybe for many of you, this isn't your reality. For me, it has felt a bit like "disappearing."

Yesterday was my first day of "real" food, and I was craving CRUNCH! Pre-sleeve, it would have been chips, chips, and Cheez-its. I did not want to go that route. I went to my local GNC and bought crunchy Protein Bars (Atkins and Myoplex Lite). Up .7 of a pound this morning, but it was all worth it. I tamed the Crunch Monster yesterday, and count it as a victory. :Banane55:

Smiling:First, You need to go the this site of the HIPAA privacy law: http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/. Second, you need to obtain your entire medical record including all paperwork that states you agreed to allow your parents to view your medical information. If no paperwork exists after you turned 18, you have a case. Then I would call around for a lawyer to take you case on "contingency", which means that the plaintiff agrees that the attorney's fee will be determined by the amount of the settlement awarded to the plaintiff, should the case be won in the plaintiff's favor. If the plaintiff does not win the case, the attorney will receive no fee.
After you sue the pants off the PCP, you can pay for your surgery in cash! Also, you're 19, get job that offers insurance and get another PCP.
My parents paid for nothing after I was 18. I worked full time and went to school full time and graduated with a 3.875 GPA. At one point, I had 3 jobs and when to school at night. If you want the surgery that bad, you'll do whatever it takes

I feel deprived sometimes-but only because I was addicted to Pepsi. So I really miss that. And I know that if I even had one drink it would be all downhill from there.
It's kinda wierd tho-I haven't really allowed myself to be deprived of foods I love, so that isn't an issue. What's weird is that I sometimes feel deprived over the small amount I can eat of something that I love.
For example tonight we had chicken fajitas. Now I used to eat 4 tortillas worth. Now I have one, and have to stop about 2/3 of the way through. That's when I feel deprived. My head is thinking how good that fajita tastes and how I really want to eat more because it was so good. But my stomach is saying-"Take one more bite and you'll be sorry!"
I'm GLAD that my stomach wins out. Otherwise I probably wouldn't lose any weight. I guess I just miss the enjoyment of eating. Does that make sense?

The pre-op diet sucks. The liquids after suck. The full liquids suck. The mushies suck. The weight loss? Priceless. I'd do it all again to feel as good as I do now.

thebionicbroad got a reaction from kgb in Wait...shouldn't Calories Per Day For Weight Loss Still Work The Same As Pre-Op?
I am 7 weeks post-op and rarely go over 700 calories a day. 1,100 sounds like a feast. :blush5: Carbs (even "good" carbs) trigger the release of insulin, which causes the body to store fat. When insulin isn't high, the body releases glucagon, which triggers the body to burn fat. This is over-simplified, but you get the general idea.

IV Fluid is saline. Salt Water. We absorb it like sponges, which is what we are supposed to do. It will come off in no time. Keep to your surgeon's directions. Good luck, and welcome!

I woke up without that "ping pong ball" feeling in my throat, and I never realized just how much I noticed the port. Very annoying. I had surgery right before Christmas Break, so I had almost 4 weeks to recover. I'm still battling some fatigue issues. I love my sleeve, and would do the revision all over again.

The part of the stomach that makes intrinsic factor, which allows us to absorb Vitamin B-12 from food, is the part removed doing the sleeve. The part of the stomach that allows us to absorb Calcium is greatly reduced. On top of that, we are eating much less food, so we are getting fewer nutrients from what little we eat. The Vitamins aren't for weight loss; they are for life!

Amen, sister! "Cheating" means breaking the rules. Why have the surgery if you don't intend to do what you are supposed to do? Sheer silliness. And, yes, denial.

I burped a lot with the Band, too, and I'm doing it with the sleeve. Have you ever done one of those weird burp-hiccup things? If you tell me "no," I'm going to go run and hide. Really embarrassing.
