Ha! Most likely you will be too nervous to eat anyway! I know I have always been before surgeries. I have to do clear liquids all day wednesday. Thank goodness I get to work all week before surgery. I've been off this past week during my liquid diet and it has made it more difficult! You got this honey! Hang in there!!

I think that everyone worries about those exact same things. My biggest thing is "will I be able to go back to work in the time frame I asked off for". Second is worrying about the diet and such, since I have failed at so many. The thing is, you don't have a choice about how much you eat at first. It won't be much, and as soon as you start loosing the weight, you will be SOOO glad for it all. I'm getting mine on the 14th, and I've gone back and forth from nervousness, to fear, to anticipation of what is to come. This is something that you just have to sit down and decide if the pro's are going to out weigh the con's.. Good luck!!

You can do it. I've been on liquid diet since Thursday! And I can only have Clear Liquids on Wednesday before surgery, no shakes! It's work, that's for sure! I'm on day 4 of liquid, and it's a lot easier today. I think my boyfriend believes I have lost my mind because I have actual verbal arguments with my stomach...(yes, it argues back)lol. Other than that... The soups, popsicles, shakes, and fluids are keeping me partially sane! lol. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!!

My surgery is Thursday! I'm excited and nervous! I already got my vitamins, and stocked up on shakes. I too, cleared a place in the fridge so that all my stuff was handy! I'm going to get baby foods and "mushies" for when I get home, tomorrow or the next day, since that is the diet I will be on. Only my two younger kids will be here, son 15, daughter 10, and they are always really good at doing what I ask of them. Packing my bag?? Well, I'm taking a small bag of chapstick, gas strips, and one change of clothes. I'm only going to be in one night... so I figure I won't need much. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow as you go through yours!! I'm certain that all will go well and you will be up and out of there in NO TIME! Good luck!!

You seem to be having very few issues, from what I've read from others. That's awesome. From what I've read the first coupleof weeks or so suck really bad. I'ts going to be rough, but YOU CAN DO IT!! I'm getting really nervous, other than that, my liquid diet is going fairly strong! I've had a few moments of weakness, but I survived! Just the fact that you got down half a shake in an hour is pretty impressive! I've been reading A LOT that many could barely sip Water the first couple of days! Keep up the good work! You are on your way!

I've had a hysterectomy with added complications. I developed a seroma, which became abscessed, and the skin around it developed cellulitus! This was the worst train wreck of surgeries. I ended up having to have a second surgery a month after my hyst. to remove the abscess and had to go through 4 months of daily wound care, and wear a wound vacuum for 3 months. So, I too, have been a little worried about how much "pain"will be involved with the actual surgical part of this. I'm scheduled to be sleeved on the 14th of July. I'm excited and extremely nervous at the same time!

I made my own too. But, I've been label reading to double check everything because I thought the same thing at first. I'm pretty sure my innards are just in shock from being starved! lol

Thought I would update... Day 2 and I am retaining these dang fluids. I decided to hop on my scale for my weekly Friday weigh, and put on 4 pounds... 4!!! I'm not happy. I'm kind of hoping that this is a norm. Maybe the Fluid retention is because my body is confused as to why I'm not feeding it solid food! Either way, I am NOT happy at the moment and feel bloated and miserable, and HUNGRY! I talked to my BFF who is doing this with me tonight, and she told me she is feeling the same way, so at least I'm not the only one miserable, and you know what they say about misery loving company! I'm not trying to discourage anyone, just thought I would fill you in. I knew it wasn't going to be fun, but I did not expect the bloating, and weight gain the first couple of days in.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY so excited for you!!!! I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet and am utterly miserable. I'm retaining all of this Fluid and have put on 4 pounds in the 2 1/2 days that I've been doing it. Hopefully tomorrow it will kick into gear, and I'll loose this bloated drowned feeling.

I was worried about the same thing. I called the hospital that I was having my surgery at and spoke with a financial advisor. She called my insurance and called me back with my grand total. I have BCBS of Tx. and because I had met my deductible for the year, AND paid in some of my out of pocket for the year, I only had to pay $1448. Because my out of pocket is also $2000. If you have not met your deductible (if NJ is anything like Tx) You will be responsible to the hospital for %20 AND to your Doctor for %20. If you HAVE met your deductible, you will only have to pay the $2000. I suggest calling your insurance, and if they don't help, call the hospital and ask for the financial office. Someone should be able to tell you.

I'm not going to lie, this sucks. I've gone my entire life eating what I want.. of course, that is what got me into this mess in the first place! I have started my vitamins today with my liquids. A couple of protein shakes, several cups of broth, some SF jello, and SF popsicles, and OMG the water I've consumed! 6 more days of this is not my idea of fun.. BUT I HAVE SUPPORT and I WILL DO THIS! Okay, gotta go, I need a popsicle!

Oh, I thought she was tomorrow! Darn it! Well, hopefully she had an easy surgery, and a speedy recovery! Just 4 more days for you!!!

I know. I was shocked after reading so many people on here were on liquids for weeks after surgery to find out yesterday that my surgeon wants her patients on Mushies once home from surgery!

I've always been conceided even when I was fat so I didn't think it was "that bad" but now I can truly see the difference and it disgusts me. I also get disgusted at the amount of food and type of food that people eat. I promised that although I was going to have this surgery, I would remain a fat girl inside for ever but I honestly get grossed out by the amounts of food that certain people eat. I feel like a hypocrite but can't help my feelings ... does anyone feel this way too? OMG YOU SOUND LIKE ME!!! I'm getting my sleeve next week, and I tell people now that I'm just your average VAIN FAT GIRL! My best friend ( who weighs 135 pounds) is constantly getting onto me because of my comments towards "women of size" who just don't seem to have MIRRORS IN THEIR HOMES! I'm really not trying to be a snotty B***H, I just think that if you are going to cram all that food into your body, at least cover it up. I cover everything! And Probably will for a very long time, EVEN after I loose all this weight! You look AWESOME, and yes, you should probably limit the alcohol use a bit, but you have still done a great job and have a lot to celebrate!!!

I know. There were only 2 of us in the class. The guy that was there was getting bypass, and has a different doctor. When the lady that was teaching us would mention a rule, she would look at me and say, Heather, your doctor is a little more lenient and let's her patients learn as they go. By the end of the class I think Mr. Bypass was ready to switch to MY surgeon! lol

I went to nut class today too. We were told basically the same info, except some of our numbers are different. Calcium has to be 1200-15-- mg per day. Vitamin b12 is 2500 mcg per week. Other than that, we were about the same. Caffeine causes different issues for people. I'm thinking that after a while a cup of coffee once in a while isn't going to be too damaging. I'll suck up the decaf if I must.. lol

Thank you so much. Yes, my job is definitely much less laborous than yours! I used to do nursing years ago, but my knees go so bad from walking around on those concrete floors with 130 pounds of extra weight I just couldn't do it anymore. It was give it up, or get knee replacements at the age of 30. I have considered going back into it once I'm down where I want to be. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. And I WILL get THERE!! My surgeon is pretty lenient, so I don't think she will have any issues of me going back after 5 days. If so, I'll take the extra couple of days and go from there. Thanks again!

I'm with you on that! I too am 36 and being sleeved next week on the 14th!! All I can think is, I will be 37-38 by the time I hit my surgeon's goal ( hoping I'm being generous) and I would give ANYTHING to have had this done back when I was 27 or even younger! Just so I wouldn't have had to gone through all the pain, and misery I have with all this fat I've been carrying around! I'm ready, ready, ready! I realize that it's not going to be roses and sunshine for a while, but I KNOW that it will be worth it in the end. Just one quick question. I am a school bus driver. I am working this summer taking the special needs kids back and forth to school, and am hoping to be able to go back on the Tuesday after surgery. It is not a strenuous job, and I am only seated for about 30 minutes at a time. (very short trips) Do you think it's managable to go back after 5 days?
