  1. Your doctor "gave you something to help you eat"? What is it? I think that if you are this unhappy and in pain, you should call and talk to the "on call" doctor. I think you'll feel better just talking him/her. --especially since they are aware of your problem enough to "give you something to help you eat". I sincerely think you should call and get some advice from them. Feel better, friend. Post and let us know what you find out. Prayers going up.
  2. When it's hot outside I make the following: I scoop Protein powder or one container of Greek yogurt I cup of frozen tropical fruit 10-12oz of calorie free liquid 4 ice cubes. Blend the jeepers out of it and enjoy a summertime smoothie--approx. 180cal and 15-24+gr of protein. Yummy and so cooling. Good luck and keep cool. Prayers going up.
  3. Welcome, Friend. Whatever you come up against, you will always find someone here who has had a similar experience and can share that experience with you. There will ALWAYS be someone here with an opinion! That , I can guarantee you! WLS can be a struggle, but it can also be the most joyous journey of your life. It will mostly be up to you which personal experience you will have. Learn to work with your new body--not against it and you will do splendidly. You can do this! You've already come almost to the "starting gate". Prayers going up for you .
  4. Nay, Woman. Anyone else would have sung, "My Eyes Adore You." Not to hijack this topic, I'll send you a list in a private message. @@Daisee68, I'm guessing your "like" means you'd also like the list, so I'll send it to you, too. Anyone else interested, just let me know. You are magnificent. You got me weepy with joy for you. @@Valentina -- Planning a 'Rosie Ruiz' to cheat the zipline? You of all people! I am shocked and incredulous. Did I mentioned that I'm terrified of heights???? Maybe we can find a zip line that is close to the ground??? Here I thought all of these years that my daughters loved me...
  5. Talking , talking and then doing some more talking helps---when with every talk we pick up just one little bit of information. WLS is no "walk in the park" for most of us. It is a life long journey. What is up to us is how we choose to travel down our WLS path. For me, I had to learn to listen to my sleeve. It will always guide me WHEN I take the time to listen to eat. I've learned to work WITH my sleeve and not against it. I no longer push its boundaries and therefore making it "cranky". Whenever I did that, I learned that my sleeve can be a bit vengeful, because whenever I would eat too fast or too much and made it angry, it had/has a way of "throwing it back in my face".--and right back out! Keep posting. There is always a member here to talk with. We want to hear how your journey is coming along and hopefully help you around the twists and turns. Prayers going up for you.
  6. I don't use it as a coating. I think it would make your entrée too "rich". Just sprinkle it on your hot entrée like grated cheese. Enjoy!
  7. Soooo, certainly you must still have your neru jacket! Mine is white with gold braiding. We old mares are still able to kick up our heels with these silly fillys, aren't we...
  8. Welcome, I hope you will have a wondrous WLS journey. It really can be and I can say today that my journey is now joyful. It's taken me years to get to this point, but here I am. Prayers going up---I guess for the both of us.
  9. I bought some and can't quite figure out how to use it! You just sprinkle it on top of everything? that's about it. I just sprinkle onto my green salads. I sprinkle it onto veggies that I am going to roast, and I mix it into hot soups. I really like the cheesy/bready tastes it gives--plus the extra protein. YUM
  10. Stay strong. You just had a major surgery. You're body is a wee be cranky if not all right pissed at you right now. Patience with the healing process is difficult, but healing and all that it entails takes time. Try to drink, drink, drink and walk as much as you can. If gas is causing your "hunger", walking will help. It will also help get the ol' endorphins flowing and help keep you mind occupied. If you still are feeling as you are now come Monday, then give your bariatric team a call. They will probably have a suggestion or two for you--according to your plan. Have a friend come over for awhile--or you go out visiting. Anything to change up your surroundings. Please keep posting and letting us know how you're doing. Prayers going up for some good things to happen.
  11. Of course it is, you silly man! Just one word of caution: Remember you just had a major surgery. Be kind to yourself. Keep posting. Good news is always welcomed and needed. If and when the news is not so good, we want to hear about those times too. Maybe we can help. We'll try anyway. Prayers going up for a continued joyfu journey for you.
  12. Come along with us! We are just a wee bit away, though. Maybe if you went with my daughters, I could slip away to the finish line and just say that I did it!!! Did I mention that I am terrified of heights?? Whose idea was this anyway? I'll have to check my will.....
  13. I agree. Homemade bone broth with fresh veggies and nutritional yeast added for enriching the taste and added Protein. crockpot overnight and then into the blender. Yummy! Prayers going up for a joyful journey, friend.
  14. Just remember, ISG----it has to be an "itsy bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow, polka dotted bikini". You've earned it! For me? After my skin surgery, I am going zip lining with my daughters. I still can't believe that they have talked me into thinking that zip lining is my "reward" for my WLS journey. I begin to think there's "shenanigans" afloat! But, I'm looking forward to the adventure of it with my grown daughters. PS: Did I mention that I am terrified of heights? Oh my...
  15. Bon Jovi? I thought Bob Marley for you. But, I'm a dreamer. Happy Life, my friend. Good thoughts going up. (any better?)
  16. Anyone from the 70's still alive and remember, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull"? The next time I'm at the surf and the fish are napping, I'm going to blow the dust off of my copy and take the 20min required to read it. I still love it. That's one very intelligent seagull---being able to write a book and all...
  17. I like Quest bars---especially since they have gone back to their original recipe. They are good without tasting too much like a candy bar. Happy hunting!
  18. @@BariBlanca yes, i can!!! Kathy cute, "old woman" ! from the other "old woman".
  19. Good morning, Sometimes pain killers can cause itchiness like you describe. Another thought: If your diet doesn't include enough fat you're skin could be dried out. That's usually what happens to me and I find myself scratching in places that I have long forgotten that I had. I'm sure your "team" will have the answer for you when you call on Mon.. However, if you are breaking your skin open, that could lead to a nasty infection, so why not call today and talk to the doctor on call? Couldn't hurt---might help. Please post and let us know how you make out. Prayers going up.
  20. Remember the, "Tortoise and the Hair" story? Well, my friend, slow and steady wins the day every time. The best prep for WLS is a thorough, and thoughtful one--dotting every "i" and crossing every "t". Five years from now you will be sooo glorious satisfied that you did so. I promise. I also would not recommend you going to Mexico. You, like myself sound like someone that needs some one on one support and guidance along the entire path of your WLS journey. I wish you a successful and joyful one. Prayers going up for you.
  21. I find I can eat a good amount of food for what some people can eat.....I eat a lot of Quiona, chicken breast, eggs and cheese.....I average at least 5 glasses of Water a day (which I am working on) I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible...I have had whole grain bread once or twice but no rice, potatoes or Pasta....I stick to veggies and chicken.....I am counting calories and protein and I average from 600 to 850 cal a day and min 60 carbs......I eat enough I don't need to drink the Protein shakes unless I don't have time to eat then I substitute....my surgeon is moving provinces and rescheduled my 6 week check up twice....so now I will never see him again....if I am doing something wrong I need to know....and I don't have a team to contact so that is not a response..... Is there a bariatric surgeon taking your surgeon's position? Maybe you can contact the hospital where you had your surgery and ask for contact information for the new surgeon's office. Or, call your insurance company and ask for the contact information to the closest bariatric surgeon covered by your plan. Is .your Nut/Diet. available? Give him/her a call. He/her should be able to help answer your questions. You're just a wee bit off track and need some information to get aboard again. I think you will be just fine, once you get some answers. It may just be that you are not getting enough calories. Go figure, right? Try and get some consultations set up. Prayers going up.
  22. I would think that if you're allowed to have chicken soup, then chicken salad wouldn't be a far stretch ---especially since your surgery isn't until Monday. However, if you're going to stress over it and not get any rest before surgery, just call you bariatric team and ask. They will reassure you. Now, take a deep breath. Relax. Worry about something else. You know you will. Post as you feel comfortable after your Monday surgery and let us know how you're doing. We are nosy AND we care! Good luck and from what I hear, you'll be in excellent hands. Starting to scooch over to make room for you on, "The Losers' Bench". Prayers going up for a joyful journey for you.
  23. I think just about everyone loves baby food bananas, but the sugar might be too high. Everything else baby food related?----leave it to the babies---they can't talk yet, so they can't report you giving them baby food as abuse!!! Just kidding--love the little curtain climbers...
  24. Baby food? ugh yuck, yuck, yuck!!! Homemade bone soup with nutritional yeast: yummy, yummy, yummy!!
  25. @ christinamo7: I never could bake. Are you telling me that if I just wait for a wee bit longer, I'll be able to bake???? Wow! who knew???
