Great topic! i am 5 weeks post-op today and i STILL find times:
    Problem:
1- when i take to big a mouth full
2- when i take 1 bite to much
3- when i eat to fast
4- when i gulp my Water
Not only do these things make me hurt, but i then beat myself up about it, because i know better!!!
    Solution:
1a- I am going to start using a baby spoon (great advice) ..
2a- I am going to put my spoon down between bites (maybe i will recognize when my sleeved tummy is saying its full)
3a- I am also going to stop watching TV while i eat (fall back into old habit of eating to fast)...
4a- go back to day one post-op and drink my Water out of a shot glass (NUT way to not gulp)
Again thank you for starting this subject because it really made me think about being accountable for my own issues!

Patrick Curl got a reaction from Spirit Fire in My Idea To Get In Some Extra Exercise.
    So,
My exercise doc, wanted me to 'take extra opportunities to walk' - well walking around the block I can make it like 75% then I get an oh SH*T moment and scan for a seat somewhere or try running cause my back just feels like it is gonna give out...
Well today, I've started a new habit. EVERY time I take a trip to the bathroom I am going to go on a walk before (or after depending on severity of my bladder).
The bathroom here at work is like through a hallway, through the kitchen and around the corner. So instead I'm gonna go out the backdoor, do a lap around our parking lot(small lot - 15 cars maybe), in the back door, then to the bathroom.
Since starting my pre-op diet I am using the bathroom quite a bit more - like once every 2 hours at least - so that's 4 x times per day that I get to walk and burn some calories.
I also am trying to walk when I get home - or at least do Kinect Kickboxing.
I really feel exercise is one of the most important parts of this journey, and something I'm not gonna neglect.

Ok - when I met with the nutritionist she said that I will only be able to take a tiny bite or two and I'm trying to do that.. but a lot of times my subconscious takes over and is like hey I know how to eat, stop wasting mental energy on it..
I know post-surgery, I will need to eat VERY slowly, much smaller bites, and while my stomach is gonna be smaller, my mouth will be as big as ever lol - I am interested in what others went through in re-learning how to eat. I mean we learn how to eat as a baby, so it's practically instinct re-learning it seems like it might be difficult. I also am really bad at sipping throughout the day I usually chug 4 Water bottles in 3 minutes at 4 different times of day to get my daily Water intake...
I'm just thinking this is gonna be hard for me to change, and would like some insight from those who've been there, done that.

My costs are 2400 - surgeon, 1400 - anesthesiologist - 17000 hospital.. I offered to let them use my kitchen table and setup a mobile OR lol ... but yeah that was a no-go. Could've saved 17 grand.

Well - i got more to lose than about 80% of y'all I would imagine - so I want to beef things up, plus I'm in extremely good condition all things considered - but still health is a ticking time-bomb that could turn sour anyday. But I'm going to one day make the 400 pound club(losing 400, not weighing)..

The ingredients in Sensa aren't proprietary or anything - ie found in a lot of places. According to WebMD there's no Studies done - the company did a sponsored trial but that doesn't really say anything and those are easily tampered with. Truth be told after being sleeved you won't need any fad stuff like Sensa. I wouldn't waste your money, instead just work on getting a lot of Protein in and low calories/carbs. just my humble opinion.

When you work out is it just cardio, or do you do strength training as well? weights will help you build muscle which will make you lose fat faster but muscle also weighs more - my advice is when you're in a stall - stop weighing for a week or so and instead take measurements you may still be losing inches just not 'weight'.. and weight can also be Water being held, etc... Lots of women, my wife included hate doing weights, and are afraid they're gonna become a bodybuilder and have the 'ugly' muscles -but that doesn't happen unless you are really trying to become a bodybuilder lol.

This is the week, I feel like my journey REALLY began.
    I began a self-imposed liquid diet(mostly liquid anyhow).
I got my surgery date! (July 2nd Yay!)
    I lost 10 pounds.
I have been really pushing myself to workout.
I just got back from krogers where I parked at the back of the parking lot, and walked as long as I could inside before getting a shopping cart to lean on - and then I couldn't find what I was looking for so literally spent like 25-30 minutes walking today..
Now last week I couldn't walk around the block.
I've also been doing Ultimate Fighting Challenge on Xbox Kinect almost nightly, and am trying to start up turbo-jam. After I get through w/ turbo-jam I'm going to begin doing P90X - that'll be um...interesting.
Each night before bed I do stair pushups as well and squats in front of the stairs(so I can fall back and sit down when I need to lol). I started w/ 5 stair pushups and am now at 20 on the 6th stair up. When I get to 50 I'm moving down a stair.
My diet has been really good and I just feel really on track and motivated...though could always use more SVs and NSVs lol to keep me motivated - I just hope I'm building a lot of muscle which will weigh more but in the end help me lose more too.
I'm attaching my weekly food/exercise journal - I think I did pretty good...except for Friday and Saturday. Each day is a new day, and I'm finding this forum to be a HUGE wealth of information and motivation. I think the forum is almost as good as the surgery itself! - -well not the forum, but the people in it, and the community here. Thanks for welcoming me!

Don't give up - why not pretend today is your surgery and try eating the post-op kinda diet till you are ready - imagine if you could lose 20 or 30 pounds before you even get to the operating table!

What "clk" said!!!! 2,000 or 1800 is way too high for a sleever to loose. We who have yo-yoed or have become obese do not have the same calorie deficit formula.
The sleeve cannot stretch all that much so you must be eating a lot of slider foods. It doesn't take much: a little Peanut Butter there, some mayo here, a few crackers there.
I suggest using My Fitness Pal and documenting everything you put into your mouth. Eat dense, lean Protein first and then some good veggies if there is room. Cut the carbs way back. I don't eat over 40 grams a day.
Go to The World According to Eggface for some great recipes. Substitute Greek yogurt for mayo and sour cream. You can add anything to flavor unflavored Greek yogurt (blue cheese, caramelized onions, spices, horseradish, a little avocado, SF Torani syrups, etc.)
There are all kinds of tricks. Most important: Cut out the simple sugar. If you cannot limit yourself to tiny amounts of dark chocolate (and I mean tiny), do not touch it. If you cannot limit the crackers, get rid of them and substitute cucumber slices. We are like alcoholics in some ways and sometimes total abstinence is the only way to cope.
You have the tool. All you need to do is pick it up and use it. I like the idea of going back to like you've just had surgery and doing the Protein shake thing. Again, go to Eggface. I learned how to make Protein Shake from her and they are so good that I actually look forward to them When I occasionally have one.
You both do look pretty darn good! I see a thinner person in there too and there is no reason why you cannot reach your goal.

I need a lot more NSVs so I can start really seeing the change..like I personally notice some small things that seem different about my body like 'rolls' in the wrong place or moved or smaller lmao.. but would be nice if the scale could just confirm, give me a thumbs up or something that I'm doing good...is that too much to ask for? lol
