  1. My thoughts on how to do a food Funeral the right way: These are some thoughts I had today, about how to 'justify' having a food funeral and doing it the healthy way. 1. Make a goal that you need to have 10 days this month that you eat under 1000 calories before you can have your food funeral. They don't need to be consecutive. 2. Do not have any food funerals, do not eat any fast food - if you do - try salads MCDs has an awesome Southwest salad. 3. Swear off Soda now, you're not gonna be able to drink it post-op, and it hurts the lining of your stomach - so it might make surgery go smoother if you just don't drink anything but Water from here on out (if you're like me and can't do water, try propel - I love PROPEL! ) 4. Do it on YOUR terms -have a plan before you go in, on what you're gonna order and how much you're going to eat. Take a friend and split your entree with them, try eating less - and when you do eat take very small bites and practice eating the way you would post-sleeve. For instance I'm planning 1 food funeral before I go under.. till then I will try my hardest not to cheat - which I've done a pretty good job. Normally when I go to my favorite restaurant I stuff myself full of wings - I eat about 15 - I'm going to order 7 next time and a side salad. It is still a lot of calories but its a smarter choice, and that's what this is all about! When you do it on your own terms, you can't feel guilty about it because it's 'allowed' and it's not cheating. Plus this way you won't feel like you need to have one every day at all your favorite places, because it's almost like a challenge to do your best, then you get this one reward before surgery. It's also healthy to think that this isn't goodbye forever, you'll see that food again, it's goodbye for a hundred pounds or more... It's goodbye with court ordered time with the food every once in awhile but lot less amounts hehe... Enough with analogies, that's just my thought on how to conquer some of the 'mental' stuff going into this surgery, and to still have your favorite food (but you will need to pick your most favorite, which I know can be hard hehe - but you can do it!) Of course, I'm still a pre-op'er, I would love to hear some post-op'ers views on this.
  2. I'm down 5 pounds this week, was a pretty good week, only had 2 days above 1000 calories, 1700 & 2100 respectively. Did lot of walking, my body pains are a lot less when working out now. Recap: Starting on memorial day: 668. Current: 652 Goal for surgery july 2: 600
  3. Weighed in at 652. Let the games begin!
  4. Yeah tell me about it, just about dashed my dreams of becoming a porn star post op. Guess I will have to stick with programming.
  5. Shh I'm married lol. Glad I could be of service.
  6. Sounds like a great idea, mine is july 2nd
  7. Hey julz welcome to the forum, I'm new here too but totally addicted. I'm currently 652, highest @ 698, I lost about 30 pounds in past year, but at that rate it would be a decade till I reach goal, so going another route. I started my surgery journey at 667 and have lost 15 pounds since memorial day on a preop diet, my goal is to lose 40 by sleeve-day, july 2nd. I'm loving all the support here, you are in the right place. I'm the kinda guy that has to know everything about something, and I feel extremely prepared after only two weeks on the forum.
  8. One small suggestion use unjury unflavored, so it's not sweet to begin with.
  9. Yeah it's getting super close. scale was stuck at 657 for 4 days the yesterday dropped to 652. 15 total lost on preop since day after memorial day.
  10. Should they start a new "junk" before / after photo sharing section? Lol.
  11. Wow awesome success story, I'm trying to do something similar ie drop about 50 in a month via mostly liquid and low carb sort, so far 15 in 10 days.
  12. And if the other ER confirms, get a lawyer, and sue the first for negligence.
  13. I think you are on the border-line if your BMI is 38.9. Do you any co-morbidalities? I'm 650 pounds and I didn't qualify either - because of exclusions in my policy - we have the Ohio High Risk Pool insurance. There are still many options out there, - you can finance it, try one of the Mexican Doctors, or sit and wait till your health does make you qualify. Stay with it - I never thought I would be able to afford it, I thought I was just going to die in my bed at 800 pounds or something.. I finally got my miracle, you will too.
  14. I would probably go the ER just to be sure, you don't want to risk it -it could cost you your life and you've already come so far. If you point your toes toward your head and it hurts really bad it is most likely a clot, but that isn't 100% --so go to the ER to be safe. Let me know how it goes.
  15. So yesterday I did awesome - I had 4 SF pudding cups, 2 Protein packs(unjury), and Mcdonalds salad - 900 calories about. I also did a lot of walking. Today I really wanted to eat out, but I didn't want to hurt my diet too much. We decided to go to our favorite mexican where normally we eat 2 baskets of chips and salsa, a Chimichanga, rice, Beans, and maybe an appetizer to share. Well today we pushed the complimentary chips aside, and ordered 1 Shrimp, chicken, and Steak fajitas to share between us. We set the tortillas aside and halfed it and only ate the filling. It was absolutely delicious - AND I really practiced my post-op mental stuff. I slowed down and paused between each bite, I chewed till it was like applesauce, I set my fork down between every bite. (I still drank w/ my dinner, I'll work on that next) So I had 1026 calories today 26 over my goal, and learned an important lesson : I can eat at a good restaurant and do it healthily AND you save a lot of money when you share one plate with your spouse hehe.. We paid $12.95 including my Diet Pepsi not bad for the best Mexican restaurant in Ohio. I couldn't believe how satisfied I was - I felt pretty full too - which I think also has to do with my diet recently - all the protein and low carbing. The biggest thing I learned is that I can definitely do this. I have taken the responsibility and I am in control, not my mind, or the ghrellin in my tummy.
  16. not too keen on Bariatric Advantage..
  17. Okay, I'm not sure if this is off-topic or not, or which forum to post this to. I have a great domain: DietGrub.com - and I can/do program (just not super great yet - I'm going to college and have a busy life - so if I could find a couple people to help with the project it would be cool... I have some ideas, so far the best one is kind of a user submitted review site for recipes, diets, Meal Replacements, supplements, surgeries, etc. The homepage would then list in columns the top 10 of each major category. Let me know if you'd be interested. Also if anyone has any other cool ideas for a web app I could do maybe something like Fitnesspal, Earnedit, or Fitocracy that would jive with the DietGrub domain, let me know. Thanks!
  18. Thanks guys appreciate it! 24 more days! Woohoo!
  19. I'm 5'll and 650, bmi of 93. I feel confident going into this that I will be healthy and will succeed. I'm sure you will be fine as well! Good luck!
  20. Here's what I do on days I slip up - I'm also dieting pre-op to try and lose some weight and build some momentum going into this... I also just want to be prepared - yesterday I just had to have mexican, so I did two things - I ordered less than I normally get, and I used it as an 'opportunity' to practice eating slower, and set my fork down, and chew my food better.. Ya know what though? Today was awesome hit all my goals and then some was 200 under goal for calories 60 grams of Protein, lots of Water and a really good workout. Don't be afraid to reward yourself one meal - but the next day kick it into high gear to make up for that meal. Also, don't beat yourself up for wanting a treat here and there especially while you're still producing ghrelin --- post op this whole dieting thing is gonna be easier I hope... maybe I'm wrong but I know I'll be forced to do it by the size of my stomach. Anyhow goodluck w/ your surgery and have fun in Vegas!
