Greek Yogurt Protein question
You can eat yogurt to get your protein in later on. That is what I do to help get my daily intake in. Did your Dr. or someone tell you that you shouldn't?

I want it so bad I can TASTE it!
Good luck, Rootman! You are doing so well and I am in awe of your weight loss so far. I know you will make it to 'overweight' soon and I wish you an easy time of it!

Beauty Queen Weight Loss Skeptic
I usually am suspect of all these "miraculous" weight loss stories of the stars, too. But case in point, I could have SWORN Kirstie Alley had WLS the first time she lost weight, then she gained it back, then she lost it, then gained it back and now she's lost it again partly due to dancing with the stars. So that reminds me of ME before VSG. Yo yo-ing. Although this time, she lost it REALLY fast, so I am thinking maybe she actually did have WLS this time. Who knows?

First Post Op Visit
Glad you had a good visit. Things sound great!
-
what does this sound like to you?
Yes, that spot burned like fire for a few days for me whenever I would move a certain way. Don't worry about the stitches, though. If you had ripped them, you would be showing symptoms of a leak. Just keep your eye on it and watch out for a fever. You should be fine in a few days. Good luck with everything

Over half way there! Pics
Great job! You must have so much fun performing! Even more fun now!

My surgery day experience ...so far.
Sorry your second day was not as easy as the first, but it will get better every day. Glad that nurse with the mystery syringes came along!!! To answer your original question, you will start feeling major restriction when you start mushies and get on a regular diet. Hope you have an uneventful rest of recovery!

Waiting for Ernesto to pick us up!!
I bet you walked right back into that 100 degree heat in Mexicali, huh? It is HOT HOT HOT there right now. When I was there, I put Mexicali on my weather thingy on my iphone and I check it every once in a while. It was 115 the other day. So how did you find everything/everyone? I know you are going to have a great time of it! Let us know

Dr. Aceves
Dr. Aceves told me the lowest BMI they will consider for surgery is 30...of course they may make exceptions if someone is on the edge of a 30 BMI....

Help with pics....
Can some of the 'pros' give me some pointers for posting pics? I looked and could not figure it out. I found one place where you could add a picture, but it would not take my 'link' in the actual post. I would like to know how to post the pics in the body of the post. I have a MacBook if that makes any difference in the directions I need to follow. I am no good with these types of things. I don't even know where I should save the pics on my computer in order to post them later. Right now, they are in Apple 'pages' and on my desktop. Thanks for any info!!

Congrats to you. You look absolutely great!!

On 8 weeks out, too soon?
I had a reduction 6 years ago and let me tell you, I was in so much pain, I would not want to go through that again for ANYTHING. So like everyone else already said, just wait if you can because if you lose any weight after you have it, and you WILL lose more weight, you are gonna be sagging and need a lift. I understand about the pain, because I had it, too, but try and get some extra supportive bras until you finish your weight loss. On the plus side, the more weight you lose, hopefully that will alleviate some of the pain because the girls will be smaller. Good luck

I did it too!!
Congrats. You have done so well! You will be at goal before you even know it!!

Patient died in Mexico, who was the doctor????
Also remember there are probably ( I have no way of really knowing) many, many more surgeons in the US as compared to the big Mexico surgery hotspots and so of course there would be more deaths reported. I'm not saying one place or another is better ( I mean, I had my surgery in Mexico), I'm just saying it seems kinda lopsided against the States to say there are more deaths here when that may be due to the huge number of surgeries performed here. Anyway, don't be scared. Deaths are truly very rare. Good luck

help
Yes, you can get Prilosec over the counter. It is a PPI. Just like the ones a Dr. might prescribe, like Nexium. BTW, there are usually very good coupons in Sunday's papers for Prilosec. Like 2, 3, or 5 dollars off. Good luck. It will get better

First meal....
I think that is perfectly normal considering all you have been through and you didn't get to progress at the rate most people do. It will just get easier and easier with time. I have a very tight tummy and it is STILL hard for me on some foods. I will say this, I am SO bad about trying to eat as fast as I used to and that is a big 'ol mistake. I have to literally tell myself to slow down or it will make me feel so bad. So don't even worry about the time it takes you to eat. Your situation is so unique that you are gonna just have to take it at your own pace and see what works for you. Just try easing into every phase of the post op diet and if it's not working, go back down the previous phase. You will make it!! Good luck with eating again!

I need PJs
Well, the first day post op I still had my IV, so I couldn't get a top on so I wore the hospital gown and some yoga pants on the bottom to keep from flashing the hospital staff during my walks!! Good luck to you

Cottage Cheese pouch test
I would love to try this. I will have to try with the Thick and Creamy yogurt like Tiff said, though, because I can't stand cottage cheese
-
Anything I should do to prepare when I come home?
Well I went through a TON of chicken broth. It went down so well since it was warm/hot. By the time you can move on to another phase of the post-op diet, you will be feeling like getting out and about and can get what you may need after that. Good luck

what a difference a year can make
How did I miss this post?!? Well, better late than never. I have to say Coops, those pics reminded me of that old movie, The Incredible Shrinking Woman. You are vanishing before our very eyes!!! You look so much happier, too. I think it is so great that one of the students commented. You know it is hard to get an adolescent to compliment anything, so that is really saying something! Congrats on letting those blasted scales go and getting on with things. You deserve to enjoy all that you have accomplished so far and forget about the numbers on the scale. Take care!
