anyone else??
Somewhere here I read that a few people take papaya supplements to help the breath. I don't know if it works but there are some who swear by it.

Friends - no pressure then
I really think the original poster just did not fully understand the feature (like myself). Thanks to others for explaining it as you defended it. I keep thinking I have to stop checking in here so often so I do not try too hard to see what other features there are here - it is hard to find the time just to read the posts but you guys make this sound worthwhile.

Please tell me how to use tickertape
If you click on your ticker, it takes you to TickerFactory.com. There you put in your PIN and click on edit ticker. If that does not work, you could try Help at the bottom or create a new ticker.

Fills
I remember seeing posts by someone here (can't remember who) that was about a year out and had not had a fill. I believe the % must be very small.

Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum - FAQ or from the home page, go to the left side of the screen and find LapBandTalk Forum Frequently Asked Questions (same as link above) but this way you will see what else is there. Good luck! Spend some time exploring - there is so much here. I still find new things.

June line up
I am surprised about the scar tissue as well. When I had my second abdominal surgery (1. caesarean & 2. hysterectomy) the doctor said he cut at the same place, or very near, the first incision and then cut out the scar tissue before sewing me up.

I was Banded this past Monday June 16th :)
That is common and is caused by the fluids they pump into you during surgery. I think you are already seeing the effects from that dissipate.

Hello everyone!
What are you eating/drinking?

Just ate....
It was the Dew - gotta stay away from that Dew.

Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?
Good luck everyone! I am already counting down the days until the 25th. I am impressed at how filling these protein shakes are. Mine have around 40 g of protein each as I am using 2 scoops of Body Fortress powder. Of course, it helps that I am allowed to eat one meal a day, too. I can eat all the green vegetables I want so I snack occasionally on celery and broccoli. I don't have to do liquids exclusively until after surgery (for 2 weeks after).

I saw you at Dr. Hollis' office for our pre-op appointments! :cornut: I heard you talking about the Dallas office giving you your pre-op diet but having your surgery here in Houston. I was the one sleeping with my back to the TV during that long wait. I really like him and I am sure you will do well.:wink5: FYI for the rest of you - our pre-op appts were very late due to two patients that day who had large livers causing their procedures to take longer. It motivated me to stick to this diet. :hurray:

Am I doomed to fail?
I just googled irregular swallow and got nothing. Don't give up yet, more fills are probably the solution. That will take time - but if it does not seem to help then have your doctor look at the band under fluoroscopy (not sure I said that right) - maybe he should check the position of the band. Good luck and keep getting fills!

So I shouldn't have....
Read in the Life at or near Goal forum or Fitness and Exercise or Nutrition. The good stories are out there.

Blood pressure
I had the same problem until I tried skipping the coffee. My blood pressure a couple of days ago (2 weeks pre-op) was 112/73! From 160/90 before meds and 140/80 after meds but while still drinking coffee. I knew caffeine was a factor but I never knew it made such a huge difference.

Second Guessing - Surgery next week!!
Gail - This thread contains a lot of wisdom. Thanks for starting this. I have my pre-op today and surgery the 25th. I started my pre-op diet today and suddenly am so scared. I was so sure of this and then today it all just hit me. But I know I want and need this. Thanks for all the reminders of why we are doing this.:tongue2: I am Gail, too.

Trying To Figure This Out ????
I am not yet banded so can only tell you what I have read that others have said. Somewhere on here is a nutrition thread where quite a few people say they stopped losing weight when they consumed 800 calories a day - the solution was to consume 1000 - 1200. They did that and started losing again. Again, I am no expert but it might be worth talking to your doctor about.

Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?
I have lived with my boyfriend for the last 6 years. His two daughters (ages 14 & 15) live with us and my 21 yo daughter lives with us as does her 9 month old daughter (my grandbaby). I also have a 20 yo daughter who lives in Austin, TX. Yes - plenty of girls around here!:biggrin2:I am a tax accountant and boyfriend is a computer tech support person. My daughter is a student so we babysit regularly. I never thought I would enjoy a baby this much. Grandchildren are the best!:tongue2:

Lap Band Surgery Shopping List
I plan on getting some of the items but not spending a fortune or having everything. I have read on other threads with the same list that many people did not use many of the non-food items so I would not go out and spend a lot of money on these until you know you need it.

June line up
Please add me to June 25th. I had given up hope that I would get approved in time to be a Jazzy June - but here I am! Huggie Bear - every time I see one of your posts I do a double-take. We look very much alike, OK maybe when I was younger. Possibly it is the hair - similar cut and color. You are gorgeous!

high blood pressure gone the day after lapband?
I bought my own cuff to monitor blood pressure myself. This was recommended by my doctor so that he could see multiple readings rather than just the one in the office at each visit. Mine cost about $40 at Wal-Mart.

How often do you weigh yourself??
I was on a diet once where they recommended weighing each morning, writing it down and forgetting it. At the end of the week, average the weights. I found that I really liked this and gains were not as upsetting; it kept me on track.
