Good luck staying focused. When I was that early out it seemed I wasn't getting enough protein in and water for sure and the more I pushed the protein the faster the weight came off. Guess your body has to get used to not holding on to every pound if it thinks you are starving.
  2. I have been drinking 1/2 caff/decaf, about 3/4 cup, with sugarfree choc syrup and top it off with soy milk every morning after my prilosec and it goes down great. I have to say by the end of the day my stomach is still full from lunch but I get that hunger feeling so wonder if my stomach acid is too much, or need more/better medicine? I only take one prilosec 20mg. Do I need more?
  3. Gee, I never thought of the drainage filling your sleeve, and I know how that darn sinus junk can drain/ plus coughing. I would hate to have to deal with that. Hope your tummy is o.k. This is the season for everything. Forewarned and feel better.

I had a very difficult weekend with my husband and his daughter, who can do not wrong. We've been married 17 years and I also have a daughter, close in age to his. Long story short, his daughter has gotten a college education/ condo money for downpayment and the hands off treatment and I mostly just go along with it. My daughter has been through a lot growing up and has had problems with my husband but he never sees her side. I'm not saying shes perfect for sure but not the shining daughter he has. His daughter said some hurtful things about me and when my daughter told me I said "thats enough". Before I would have swallowed it and hoped it smoothed over, certainly never confront my husband. Well....not any more. I think this surgery has helped me be a person whos opinion matters, I had a big problem causing fights and avoided them at all costs, with the result of stuffing myself with food. Well...not any more. The roof shook and it felt SO GOOD!!! I told him I would not be second to anyone and he could go live with her, well you get the idea. I was spitting nails. We have had several talks since then and I stood by my opinions and he backed down, told him I would always voice my thoughts whether he liked them or not and not stuff them again. The same thing to his daughter. I am sure she could continue to cause trouble and know these things break up marriages but it is his decision to live with that, not mine. Long story but I just wanted to tell you that you will change if you push your new boundaries and believe in yourself. No going back.

Thanks for the update. When I think of things to do to celebrate I am starting to move away from going to a restaurant for now. Used to eat out so much and will for my husband but can think of other things I'd rather do, movie, travel weekend etc.
  6. You look great! One hot mama!!
  7. I hope you get pregnant soon!!!

Sorry you had bad news to deal with but glad for your new mature relationship with food, a big victory!
  9. Are you in a lot of pain with the endometriosis? Will it be an elective surgery for you that you can wait until later after your VSG? If you lose the weight first I would think it would help with the GYN surgery as long as you are able to wait. Usually endometriosis causes scar tissue in your pelvic area from endometrial tissue implantation and can damage the fallopian tubes, ovaries and also be very painful. I would be very interested to hear what your VSG surgeon says, who should be able to help you make that decision. I'm sorry for this news from your GYN, and surprised at the recent dx after all this time. Good Luck
  10. Welcome TNT! Whoever "pops", we get it and wish you the best on your journey. If you have done 5 years of research you are definitely ready! Good Luck!
  11. Welcome determined! I am from Evansville but had my sleeve surgery in Mx in Dec. My bmi was too low and my insurance would not cover the sleeve now. I didn't want all the hassle of prepsych, weight loss and extensive out of pocket pre-ops tests that the local bariatric surgeon wanted. (I don't live in Evansville now). There is a site here that you can go to for evaluating your surgeon to help you decide if your surgeon is right for you. Center for excellence sounds great and they probably have a lot of follow-up care that isn't provided with a Mx surgeon, other than prompt emails with concerns. Good luck on your journey and please post any questions you have here, everyone is so open and helpful, I could not have done this without them.
  12. I am so happy for you Dee dee, you have been waiting for this for so long. I can't wait till I look at that weight. Even being cooped up you dropped! Yaaaayyyyy! Linda
  13. Thank you Tiff!!! Just amazing you compiled this. I have some reading to do. Linda
  14. I have to say I am self conscious when we go out to eat and all the food they bring you at restaurants and only eat a couple of bites, and especially the other night it was standing room only waiting for a table. I had an audience. So don't think going out to eat is a treat any more, not for now. For some people, they eat and sleep about food, and this surgery, I don't care how miserable fat they are, will not work for them. Food is their life and they would have to do some serious psychological counseling, very serious decision to make. I am not regreting this at all but for those on the fence, please be sure this is right for you.
  15. I know what you mean. My sites were irritated and red with the tape, worse on the last to heal drain site. I took my shower, put alcohol on them then covered with dermatape that was especially for sensitive skin. I was told not to put anything else on them and especially caution putting any creams/antibiotic on the sites. Air dry if possible, I used the hair dryer, and then recover them. I have really sensitive skin and was able to finally heal. Last cover I used was a small spot bandaid and the tape left a little ring for awhile. Please let your doctor know if it looks infected. Good luck. Linda
  16. I remember sucking on ice cubes, felt good to me. Just depends what does it for you Your tummy is swollen and sore and won't feel good for a day or two. It does get better! Please make yourself walk, it moves the gas. Dr. Campos kept asking me if I had passed gas and if I had he high fived me. Never was glad of that bf!!
  17. Charity, Please don't do that, too risky. Your gallbladder duct is incredibly small and if one of those stones breaks loose you will create an attack that will force you into surgery. Not to mention what those liquids could do to your sleeve. I have scanned patients with gallbladder dz and it is so painful. Please find a way to get your surgery with a good surgeon, it is worth it. Good luck, Linda
  18. You know, it sounds like it was a good thing for this to happen. He was able to remove scar tissue that could have hurt you down line for sure, so with a clean bill you are on your way. So happy for you! Linda

I miss food also. We went out to eat to sushi and I always loved most everything there but of course I could only eat about 4 bites of the best tuna, but no more would go down. Its almost a mourning for the comfort food gave me. Have to replace it with something, I know and I am so happy with my weight loss, but your right it is very complex. Stay away from good restaurants for now.

I hear you, I believe you don't have as much to lose and it might come off slower. I do the same thing, lose a lb here and half lb there, few days later it goes down again, so I don't get uptight in between. Stay the course with protein and fluids and exercise and it has got to budge!

Congratulations Dee dee and thanks for your journey update!
  22. What a relief to have it over with, huh! Glad its behind you. Smooth sailing from now on! Linda
  23. I'm printing this out also, thanks Tiffy!!! By the way how are your doing? Linda
  24. Sending healing thoughts your way for a quick recovery!
  25. Well I did my first Zumba class and what fun! Small problem at the start of theclass, some tmi, I've been really constipated lately and last night I had some fresh cherries. In the back of my mind I knew they can give me cramps and bm's but I figured no problem with nothing moving anyway. WRONG. Had to run to the bathroom twice and I was loving the class! Success!!! So will not eat cherries again but the instructor lets you watch her first and then do it for the neebies. Also some weights for upper body that kicks butt or should I say arms. Reminds me of jazzercise with latin music and moves. Definitely worth a try.
