  1. The nurses couldn't find a vein on me either...I think it was because they took my right in for surgery after my flights and I was completely dehydrated. I'm glad Omar was there to help, he's a great guy. He must be used to the meltdowns by now (I had a huge one when they couldn't find a vein)! I bet you will be feeling a lot better once you get out of the hospital and to the hotel. Keep us updated!
  2. So glad you are doing better. Sounds like your body had a crazy reaction and then got its stuff back together! You are doing great if you're already walking your neighborhood. Welcome to the loser's bench!
  3. I like both, but I really like the egg beaters southwest style (it has little bits of red and green pepper in it) with some sauteed onions and 2 TBSP. of low fat shredded mexican cheese. Regular egg beaters are too bland for me.
  4. That is really cute!! Love the cut and the smile.
  5. Wow, I am so excited for you. I had about the same experience...never really heard of having the surgery in Mexico until I stumbled on this site. I was denied by insurance, too...after I lost 20 lbs. for the doctor (required) and they said I didn't weigh enough. I had tried to explain this to the doctor, but they don't really listen. Anyway, sleeved 9/15 and down 28 lbs. so far. It was the best decision I ever made and well worth the money. Best wishes on your journey. I'm sure you think that January can't come soon enough, but it will!
  6. Did you request wheelchair help? Nope, I had already walked about 3 miles round-trip from the hotel to the mall in Tijuana...didn't need a wheelchair. I don't see why you couldn't ask though, if you didn't feel good. Did you board before others? Nope...my husband was with me and we boarded with everyone else. We had two flights home and had to pretty much book to get to the second flight. That took a little bit out of me, but the flight was fine. Did you feel sick or get sick at all on the plane? No, not at all. I was much more happy on the flight home because I could drink fluids. I sipped my G2 and distracted myself with movies on my tablet. Here's a disclaimer, though. I don't generally have a woozy stomach, so this felt pretty much the same. If you do, I'd be prepared with some kind of anti-nausea meds.
  7. I love mapmywalk...but my only problem is that it can only track outside walks and it's getting cold where I live. But it's a great app!
  8. I don't have a Striiv, but I saw it at Target. It was a little under $100. Looked pretty cool, but I already ordered the newest Fitbit.
  9. Almost identical experience here. The only pain was at incision sites, walked right away...the leak test was horrible (tasting, but over with quickly). I have had some minor bouts of nausea in weeks 1 and 2...didn't throw up, just got a little light-headed. So glad you had a great experience!!
  10. That is awesome! I'm 6 lbs. away...doing the happy dance for you this morning. Have a great day at work.
  11. I am so glad your PCP is being supportive! She sounds like a wonderful doctor.
  12. Yes, I have had that same feeling several times! I heard it was from the hormones as we're burning fat. I forgot my water in my car this morning and had to go out to get it. By the time I got back in, I was sweating like a hog...I wasn't running or anything. I like to just think of it as more fat burning...I'm like a fat-burning oven, lol! I think it's supposed to get better, but I am only 3 weeks post-op, so I don't know much. I hope it gets better for you soon!
  13. Awesome! Congratulations!!
  14. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and we'll see you on the loser's bench!
  15. So many congratulations on your weight loss. I, for one, will never have a problem with someone else's food choices. The way I see it, we're doing so much better than we did before, and we can learn to enjoy things we like in moderation. I love this tool! Goals are always changing! Hit your first one and see how you feel. I can't believe you have gotten so far without exercising. Does your knee feel better with the weight you have lost, or is it something that needs surgical fixing?
  16. Best wishes! See you on the loser's bench. It can be rough at first, but it gets so much better!!
  17. Thank you, great information!!
  18. Same thing happened to me right at two weeks (is this a thing??) and I just increased my calorie intake a little. Then the weight started to fall off again. Be aware of your measurements, too! Sometimes it's showing up there and not the scale due to water weight and things like that.
  19. My husband solved the problem of his fears by going with me. He was almost embarrassed at how nice everything was...and that was Tijuana. I'm still glad he went with me for moral support. Is there any way your husband can go with you, or could you travel with a friend or family member. It's just nice to know someone's watching out for you when you aren't feeling your best.
  20. It will get better, believe me. I am 2 weeks post-op today and I just got back from walking to the homecoming parade...1.7 miles round trip. I think within a week, you will be feeling a lot better!! Congratulations.
  21. Don't worry about it, but I was just sleeved at Florence/Oasis of Hope on 9/14 of this year...two weeks ago tomorrow. Are you saying that they told you he doesn't do surgery there? I'm really confused.
  22. I felt the same way! So excited that you had such a great surgery outcome.
  23. I guess I'd have to ask where you got your information? If it's from a coordinator, you need to think about their reasons for telling you this. They only make money if you choose from the doctors they're working with, and they make darn good money. I'm not shooting any messengers, but I also don't believe in dealing with rumors. Unless you've confirmed these rumors with the hospitals where he's supposedly not allowed to practice? I do know that many doctors have preferred hospitals due to price points. There was one hospital where the same surgery would have cost me $10,000. It was amazing, but I was willing to settle for clean and modern facilities. No, I did not have a drain with Dr. Kelly.
