I would just say to be prepared to get up and move extensively every couple of hours to get rid of the gas. I would make sure to bring a pill cutter in case you have to cut pills (antibiotics and pain meds) instead of crushing them - they taste just plain AWFUL.

Don't ever allow anyone to control you. Being in a relationship so you don't have to be alone is the worst thing you can do. I'm guessing you don't love him, but you love the idea of what you thought he might be and you don't want to be alone. Drop all the dead weight- especially him. If you aren't getting emotionally and mentally healthy too-, then what is the point of trying for physical health? It won't work if you don't have all 3.

I'm a firm believer in working smarter, not harder than necessary. Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of hard work, just seems ridiculous to fight a losing battle empty handed when you can grab a tool and succeed.

So if you go to the doctor and someone asks you why, you don't have a problem telling a coworker that it "burns when you pee" and you have a "smelly discharge from your genitals"?
Instead of just saying you weren't feeling well?

The only person besides yourself you need to be completely honest with about your health is your doctor.
We all have different situations in our lives. We deal with different people and have different social and location situations.
Sometimes you already have enough to deal with, you do t want to deal with the local gossip monger about your digestive tract. You might get to the point where you don't care, but sometimes it's just none of anyone's damn business.
Do what you are comfortable with. Just make sure 1000000000% truth goes to your doc!

What makes you think that people who keep their private lives private are embarrassed or ashamed? Did the thought ever occur to you for one second that sometimes people just don't need to share every last detail of their life with the whole world? Be it ANY medical or other personal aspect of their lives. it's as simple as privacy

You pretty much can eat whatever you like - just watch how much/often.
I've stayed away from chemical sweeteners in favor of real sugar and stevia. I feel so much better for it. We tend to overdo things because its "sugar free" - I think that we are more apt to control our intake knowing it has sugar in it.
