Fitness Center
Judy, that is super. I wish I had a place to use like that. My house is small and no room for exercise equipment. I have a stationay bike and an eliptical Gazelle on patio that works OK but is so hard to get me out there when it is 110 degrees. Any excuse, I know. Bob it sounds like you found the best of all places. Everything a person could possibly want to do and oversight too. Awesome to both of you. Good luck with wt loss & exercising. carol

Hard Time With Food
Lisa, so sorry you are struggling. Do you have family to occupy your time/mind. I think I remember a post where you stated you took your dtr swimming. If I am right on remembering, maybe you could do activities with her to get mind occupied and off food. What about hobbies. I know I can lose a day here at the computer. Keep a bottle of Water near, maybe Protein drinks, and I use Jerky and raw veggies too for the chewing factor. I also suggest getting the "bad foods for you at this time" out of the house. If it isn't there you can't eat it. I know my husband baked a peach cobbler and I definitely helped him with that and I don't even like sweets. I cannot have things that I am tempted by in the house. I also agree with Ruthi. I have not used it but I know allot of people mention they use the 5-Day Diet. Maybe that would help get the carb craves out of your system. You have done so well. I know you can get back into this. Message me, if you like and we can talk. carol

Prospective band to sleeve
I was doing stationary bike, in the pool walking, leg raises, squats and lower body etc 3 weeks after surgery. Nothing upper body. At the month time frame then I started the upper body exercises in pool and the Gazelle. I don't like to exercise but I try to do routine on each daily. Wish I were like some on here that have gotten to really enjoy exercising. I have foot & knee issues and have to be careful with what I do. The pool makes that safer.

New To The Gastric Sleeve Surgery Board, Looking For Other Recovery Minded People:)
Wow, Michelle, according to your ticker you are almost there. That is great. You have to be so very proud. I can't just have a bite or two of my trigger foods. I have to not take that 1st bite. I fixed chicken Pasta primavera last night. it was wonderful. I told myself I would only eat the chicken and veggies....yeh right. Well today 1# up...the 1st gain in my almost 3 months post surgery...I was wishing there were no left overs in the fridge. I think my neighbor is going to get a very nice meal tomorrow. I know I will be looking in my fridge and see the pasta. The sleeve is our life saving tool and we have to work it and it definitely looks as if you can and have. You have done great. Down with head hunger.....!! carol

Odd question
My throat just felt a little scratchy like I might be catching a cold or something that evening but by the next day it was totally gone. I would say you would be good to sing definitely in 3 weeks without concern. carol

Head hunger
I start my day with a 10 oz cup of tea on patio while husband has his coffee. I can't stand coffee post surgery. Then mid morning I have an 11 oz Premier Protein drink. I set out 3 16.9 oz bottles of Water and get those in during the day. That is 69 oz of fluids. That takes care of that without having to plan. It just is easy for me to get my fluids in using those 2 things as base. The Protein Drink is 30 gm protein and then I pick at an individual bag of jerky throughout the day and that has 13 grams protein. Those 2 things give 43 grams of my 60 that I'm trying for. This is what works for me. Good luck in finding a system that works for you. carol

Surgery this Friday (PV, Mex) Tell me what to take!
I was one of the lucky ones. I did not have gas pains. My surgery was 12:30 so was late afternoon before I was back in my room and I wanted to sleep. I had very little pain. I think that was because of left over meds from spinal. The second day the only pain I had was lifting my left leg up when getting back into bed. The good thing is since the surgery is laproscopic there are only 5 very small incisions maybe 1 inch ea. That makes it allot easier for moving around. I felt kinda tired and drug out but other than that from the the second day on I was OK. Moved kinda slow but no pain. It is pretty easy actually. I was surprised. I agree with VA, I thought I would be able to tell that most of my stomach was gone but can't tell any difference. Guess is kinda like my gallbladder or my appendex. I can't tell they are gone either. I'm so glad I did the sleeve surgery and I know you will be too. The 1st month is a challenge and then the transition to regular foods is hard. I wanted to go back to my comfort zone of mushies but I also wanted "real" food. It took about a week to be able to get my mind into solid Proteins. It is so worth it. Good luck with your "adventure" into a new life. carol

Absolutely awesome, WASa. I don't go to OH so I would never of seen this. I am going to print it off so I can refer to it when I need a push. I am so glad you re-posted this. This is such a good motivator. I know I need the "kick in the butt" every once in awhile and I'm sure others do too. Thank you. I'm going to forward to dtr. CMT, I hope reflecting on what WASa has said will give you the motivation you need to get back in the swing of WL. Good luck to you and come back here for support and a gentle push. carol

Changed My Mind!
Super, I am so happy for you. It's great you have made the decision and awesome that ins will pay. I, too, was scheduled for band but changed my mind at the last minute. It is such a good feeling to be taking control of my health. You will be so very pleased with your decision, I'm sure. Hope to hear of your progress securing your sleeve.

Head hunger
I did OK actually. I wasn't sure I would but worked out alright. Husband & I and 2 other couples went to 2 movies (a movie marathon as we call it). They all had a huge buttered popcorn and drinks. I was nervous. I took 2 bottles of water and 2 individual 1.5 oz bags of jerky. I was not even tempted for popcorn. The jerky was wonderful. I was so proud of myself. I ate the jerky and was very satisfied. We came back to the house and had BBQ ribs and then watched fireworks later. I ate maybe a Tablespoon of baked beans and a slice of tomatoe. It ended as a very good day. Now bring on Thanksgiving. Oh my...

Dijon-Bacon Dip
I found this today in my Simple & Delicious magazine. I had to try it. It really spiced up my veggies that I had for snack. Combine: 1 cup low fat mayonnaise 1/2 cup Dijon mustard 1/4 cup bacon bits 1-3 teaspoons horseradish. Hope you like it. carol

Questions about follow up care
HI Deanna, Welcome to the board. Congrads for your date. It is good your doc discovered your thyroid results were off and prescribed you meds. The thyroid does have some control over your metabolism and therefore does affect wt loss/gain. I had a tumor on my thyroid and had 3/4 of my thyroid removed maybe 10 years ago. I have taken meds for hypothyroidism ever since. As long as the doctor monitors your TSH (thyroid) level by taking a normal blood draw and keeps you with in limits you are fine. Don't be concerned about this. Your doctor has you headed in right direction. It might take a couple changes in med dosages to get your level right. Not a big deal at all. Again welcome and hope to hear from you soon. carol

August 4th !!
Oh my word, you just mentioning fresh eggs brought back memories. Fresh eggs make the eggs we city people buy look anemic. I remember the yolks being so yellow it looks as if food coloring has been added. If I didn't live across the country I'd sure buy some. I can only eat half of a scrambled egg with my piece of turkey bacon for breakfast but eggs do keep in frig. Maybe SouthWest has a really good special going. ha

Simple things
I buy the sugar free jello and pudding cups and they taste fine. The jello has 10 calories and the pudding has 60 calories. That is very do-able for me for a little sweetie.
