So as of stepping on the scale yesterday I am now half the man I use to be.. Literally... I was at one point in my life at 418 pounds. Just before surgery I was at 362. Yesterday I weighed in at 209 so 153 pounds gone since surgery and 209 overall. Talk about feeling like an entirely different person!
I am still loosing weight at this point at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week. April 3rd will be my 1 year since surgery and this has been one crazy ride!
I decided to Celebrate this milestone and picked up a new road bike yesterday. Who would have thought I would be riding one of those bikes with the skinny tires or riding a bike at all.... Not me thats for sure!!

I was approved!!!!! It only took UHC 3 days (5 if you count the weekend). I could not take the wait much longer, lol! Sleeve date, 4/3. Losers bench here I come!!!!!

I got approval today! Now I'm waiting for the surgery scheduler to call. Let me know your current status.

I also have UHC and go thru the Bariatric Resource Center. while you are waiting for your case worker to call, and it always takes days for them to call....... Call the Bariatric Resource Center again and just ask them to email the requirements to you. they do that within 10 minutes . I had them do that for 2013 and again in 2014 in case the requirements had changed. They will send the requirements that your company has mandated. good luck to your husband!!!

Hello there! I had my surgery with Dr. Nusbaum in August! I love him and the whole staff.
Just a tip that got me through the liquid phase, I started adding PB2 to my chocolate Protein shakes (Carla gave the "OK"). It was delicious and kind of cut back on the sweetness (that I got sick of easily) fairly well. Also, really early out I bought those clear Isopure drinks, and drank an entire bottle throughout the work day. It has a very chalky aftertaste so I mixed about 3 oz. of ISO and 2 oz. of Water and drank one of those each hour. Water and Protein, 2 birds with one stone!
I'm down 81 pounds since surgery and am almost 5 months out (5 mo. will be 1/15).
You both sound like you're doing fantastic! That early post-op stage is a distant memory (I swear I don't even remember it) so keep trucking along!

I'm very happy that your process is coming along and before you know you will be one of us:).
Actually, having a surgery in March/ April is very good. It would be easier to exercise ( walking). Also, after surgery I am always cold, so freezing weather is really getting to me.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask, I would love to answer it. Are you scared? Concerned? Worried? Ask!

I also had my follow up appointment today:). I really hope you start feeling better soon. Hernia repair should stop bathering you very soon, practically every day now. What kind of Protein Shakes are you taking? I like Premier Protein shake. What else is going on with you? Please keep us posted.

--- I don't remember the nasal endosc. being 10 minutes .. I was fully awake and what I recall is that it was no more than 35 maybe 40 seconds in one nostril with dr N. you can call and speak to the staff to confirm the length of time ... It is quite uncomfortable and I had discomfort in my nostril & throat for the next couple days ... It didn't hurt to eat or drink tho. Make sure they numb up your nostrils real well with the nasty spray so the tube can slide down easily and be sure to hold the nurses hand for a better experience And to prevent you from the urge of pushing the docs hand away. You may have a hard time breathing during the process like me but you'll survive it
Thanks for the iPhone app info -- medxcom is a great tool. I was able to connect with Joan the PA today and she replied promptly and competently. She put me at great ease with my concerns regarding low energy & hernia pain at 16 days post op.

Yes, the application is MedXcom. This is application for patients to communicate directly with the doctor.
I will probably text my surgeon tomorrow, because I don't like how is one of my smaller incisions look like.

Nice to meet another fellow patient! I have a couple months to go with my required supervised diet, but so far I also have no complaints.
