  1. Mommydearest74, your right about its going to take a lot of changing and going back to basics. I found out the hardway this week, had some cocktails and ended up gaining 3lbs. I haven't had my surgery yet and have to get to 270lbs by January 8th. That's when they will give me my surgery date. Wish me luck! Everyone here is awesome in their own way, thank you all!
  2. I bought the whey protein mix from Walmart and so far it is pretty good, I add peanut butter and use my food processor to mix it up and it is delicious! I think its all about mixing and adding tastes for preference.
  3. All your surgeries will be successful and a speedy recovery for all of you. You are my inspiration for my January Surgery. Blessings to all!
  4. Went to meet the Surgeon today and lost 14lbs so far. He told me to lose 11lbs more and email him so he can schedule my surgery. I hope to have an early January 2013 date. It will be a fitting start to my journey beyond....so excited!
  5. You took a giant step towards a healthier you. I admire your courage and am inspired by you! Best of luck on your journey!
  6. Well I am back from my Psych evaluation and it was not that bad! Couple of questions regarding my love affair with food and breaking old habits, Other than that it was all good. Tomorrow I meet with the Surgeon. Getting closer....
  7. So I am headed out for my psych evaluation and I am pretty nervous even thought things will probably go just fine. Its the thought of the unknown! Going to just answer the best I can and as honestly I can. Wish me luck, I am on my way!
  8. I have thyroid problems and it has been an up hill battle to lose weight. I lose 10-15 lbs at the most and then stall...still trying though! I see the psych next week and also the surgeon not sure what is next but I hope with in the next two-three months to see a surgery date.
  9. I have the same problem but its with my daughters because you see I am a widow. I lost my husband in 2008 to cancer and have been alone since then. Now that I have decided to lose weight they think I am doing it to find a new man. Its not all them, I found myself attracted to an old boyfriend online and they had a fit. They think I should not have any other person in my life, that I should wait until I pass away to be with my husband once again. I really just want to be healthy and live longer. I have been over weight for too many years, I am type 2 diabetic and have to take high blood pressure medicine. High cholesteral pills etc. This decision to have WLS is for ME no other reason. I have assured them of this and for now they are going along with me but I see and hear the suspicion they are feeling. I will just have to wait and gain their trust once again. Because I am going through with this!
  10. It's a work-in-progress, a journey to a new way of life. I am willing to go to the classes, read the books, talk to people who have had it done. The whole nine yards. I am not expecting things to happen overnight. Took me years to get where I am right now and its going to take time to lose all the weight, bad habits and wrong way of thinking. But I look forward to a brighter future, healthier lifestyle and living longer, so its well worth the process!

  12. I agree you are very handsome and great eye candy for us elderly folks. Keep up the amazing job!
  13. So glad you don't have Barrets and your journey continues, best of luck!
  14. That sounds wonderful you have everything in place. I just got back from my doctors appt and have a psyche appt on 11/15 and an appt with the surgeon on 11/16. Already approved for surgery just waiting for a date. I feel you on being all over the place emotion wise, I've waited my entire life to do this, I'm 58 years old and its never to late to get healthy! Good Luck!
  15. Cinders, We have a lot in common I too live for my dog, chocolate. He saved my life when I lost my husband we were married for 37 years. I have 3 daughters and 1 son who passed away when he was 21, killed by a drunk driver. But I was lucky to have him for 21 blessed years. Lets keep in touch with one another, I feel good talking with you.
  16. Dear Cinders, Sorry to hear about your loss, I have been there. I lost my husband to cancer in 2008 and I am just getting used to being by myself and decided its now or never. I want to feel good about myself and healthy for my kids and grandsons. We are on a journey to a better life, we must congratulate each other for being brave and making a good decision. Cheers to us!
  17. I commend you for being brave and confronting yourself and admitting your problem. Your half way to solving your little problem. I haven't had the surgery but your story confirms that you have to commit and stay on a structured diet forever! Nothing can stop the weight from coming back if your heart isn't in it and yours sounds like your in it to win it!
  18. I haven't had very many meetings, this is all new to me but when I do get sleeved, I am following my Doctors orders religiously. All will work out when you go with the program and not against it. This is a lifestyle change, there is no turning back and falling back into bad eating habits. Do yourself a favor and don't be so hard on yourself, your not a failure, your just listening to old habits. Turn your back on the inner voice that is telling you to eat. Use the force, lol! Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.
  19. I believe God wants us all to live a long and healthy life, the bible says "a good man should live to 100 yrs old." As long as a heart believes that what we are doing to get this long and healthy life we are living on God's earth in a "positive way." Everyone is different, some can eat and never gain but there are those of us who just "look" at food and its on our hips instantly. We diet, we exercise till we are blue in the face with no luck. That's where Gastric Bypass Surgery helps us. I choose "Life" and nothing nor anyone can change my mind....
  20. Does any one know how long it takes to get the actual surgery from Kaiser SSF. I have had one meeting and am scheduled for orientation on 10/16. I just want to know how many meetings are involved before having surgery. I just want to get it done and start my journey to freedom...;.
  21. Thanks for the encouragement it means the world to me. I will keep you posted when have my surgery and hope I have as much success as you have. Again, thanks and talk to you soon!
  22. Welcome I am new also we are on this journey so we may as well walk it together, I am rooting for you! Good luck and blessings!
  23. I am 58 yrs old and I am doing it because I want to be healthy and live longer. I am a diabetic, and weigh 289 lbs and just tired of lugging all this lard around. I have dieted my entire life and nothing helps for long. I think maybe I should have done this a long time ago....
  24. Best of luck to you, when you let something go if its really yours, it comes back to you. Don't ever give up on hope! I am rooting for a great happy ending to your story! Blessings...
  25. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It helps us who are waiting for our surgery. I know in my heart this is something I should have done years ago, I am 58 yrs old and I want to live life normally for once in my life I want something for me and I choose LIFE.
