Psych Test...whats Involved?

Recommended Posts

I have my psych eval tomorrow and I'm freaking out. Well not really but i got butterflies just thinking about it. I've never met with one before. I also just learned today that my two hr apt is really only a one he with the dr and one a test. What kinda of questions are on the test? Any insight will be great.

(I can't do a search from my phone right now. I apologize as I'm sure this has been asked many a time before).

Thanks :)

I did mine a few weeks ago and I felt exactly the same way.. Not too nervous, just an unknown. The doctor I went to relaxed me instantly. There was a written questionaire, very simple questions to I suppose gauge your relationship with food, your body image and if you have impulse issues, or issues with depression or addiction (other than food). Alot of the questions are repetitive but asked in a different way. The "interview" was a history of my weight issues as well as getting info on my support system. He stressed the importance of asking questions either to him/surgeon or using the boards. He felt these forums were essential to working through the process.

Don't worry, its' pretty quick and painless.

What the psych evals include varies a lot. There are many different tests but the most common one is the MMPI. It's what I had to take for my evaluation. Here's some info about it: http://psychcentral....ory-mmpi/all/1/

Here is a website with some of the questions:

https://antipolygrap...?num=1109032158

The questions listed didn't match up 100% with the questions on the MMPI that I took but they were very close.

Some of them are funny. Some are basically impossible to answer. Just don't overthink, go with your gut and move on to the next question. I also had a nice long talk with the psychologist, which was not intimidating -- just going over potential issues, what is my support system going to be, and so on.

Ok cool. Thanks all. That's eases my mind a bit. I am taking the MMPI first and then meeting with the dr.

So I am headed out for my psych evaluation and I am pretty nervous even thought things will probably go just fine. Its the thought of the unknown! Going to just answer the best I can and as honestly I can. Wish me luck, I am on my way!

I know this is off the subject, but how did you get that checklist? The one that lists all the different stages of the pre-surgery?

I tried figuring it out, but I can't (I'm obviously new to this site, lol).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
