  1. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on January 11, 2013. I had known a few people who had the surgery, and afterwards, went back to their old way of eating (i.e. fast food, pop, etc.). I swore before I had my surgery that I would not become one of those people. I thought to myself, how could I do that? Go through this major surgery that is offering me a second chance, but take it for granted and not follow the diet? Well, here I am, 10 months post-op, and only 60 pounds lost. I am not exercising at all, or eating the proper food. Every day, I get so mad at myself for doing what I swore I would not do. I want to come back from it and start fresh, start exercising and eating right, but then a part of me is saying it's too late; that I already messed it up for myself. Granted, I am not gaining any weight, but I know that if I was eating what I am supposed to be that I would have a greater amount of weight loss at this time. I still want to lose another 60 pounds, and I need some help. Please, if any one of you has been through what I am going through, please share your experiences. Please offer any advice that you can to help get me out of this slump. I'm sure if I suck it up and start exercising and eating right, I'll see some results again...
  2. Hi everyone. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op, and I've been making the mistake of weighing myself almost every other day. The last few days, my weight loss has stopped (it actually went up a pound in a half one of the days). Now I know that a persons weight fluctuates every day, but I thought that the first month was supposed to be the month for the most weight loss. Since starting my pre-surgical diet until now, I've lost a total of 20 pounds, I know that's awesome, but no where near what I thought it was going to be for the first month. I've just really gotten myself down over this, and I can't go and drown myself in food like I could before I got the surgery, so I have to whine, lol. Can someone please give me their experience with weight loss the first month and beyond? I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much. P.S. I have been sticking to the diet and the Protein drinks, but I haven't been very active at all. Most days I just take the dog outside, and that's about it. Lindsay

My 1 year is coming up.....

Congratulations!! I'm wanting to lose 130 pounds also. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op, and it seems like I've already stopped losing weight. Do you remember how much weight you lost in the first month? Was that the month you lost the most weight? How much weight did you lose on average per month? I know it's a lot of questions, lol, but I'm just getting myself really bummed out because I expected the first month especially to be the biggest for weight loss. How often did you 'exercise'? I know you don't like that word, and I completely agree with you!!
  4. Hi Everyone! This is my first post since discovering this website. So far since my decision to have the gastric sleeve, my journey has been extremely easy compared to other posts that I read (thanks BCBS). My consultation appointment was on November 19th, and all testing is done and approved except for my upper endoscopy which is on the 20th of December. My surgery is scheduled for January 11th. I would really like to hear from others who are having surgery that date so that we can follow each other post-op. Please get in touch with me:)

    Any January 11th Sleevers?

I have the same feelings you do about my process being "too easy". I read all these posts about people having to wait 6 months to a year before surgery. I'm also reading about all these special diets and people having to be on a liquid diet like 10 days pre-surgery. My doctor is only requiring a 1,000 calorie a day diet 8 days before surgery, then 2 days before surgery is liquid only. I can't decided if this is a good thing for the doctor to be so lenient, or a bad thing... What does your pre-surgery diet consist of?

    Psych Test...whats Involved?

I know this is off the subject, but how did you get that checklist? The one that lists all the different stages of the pre-surgery? I tried figuring it out, but I can't (I'm obviously new to this site, lol).
