Mommydearest74, your right about its going to take a lot of changing and going back to basics. I found out the hardway this week, had some cocktails and ended up gaining 3lbs. I haven't had my surgery yet and have to get to 270lbs by January 8th. That's when they will give me my surgery date. Wish me luck! Everyone here is awesome in their own way, thank you all!

Best Tasting Protein Powders
I bought the whey protein mix from Walmart and so far it is pretty good, I add peanut butter and use my food processor to mix it up and it is delicious! I think its all about mixing and adding tastes for preference.

Marriage Issues Already!?
I have the same problem but its with my daughters because you see I am a widow. I lost my husband in 2008 to cancer and have been alone since then. Now that I have decided to lose weight they think I am doing it to find a new man. Its not all them, I found myself attracted to an old boyfriend online and they had a fit. They think I should not have any other person in my life, that I should wait until I pass away to be with my husband once again. I really just want to be healthy and live longer. I have been over weight for too many years, I am type 2 diabetic and have to take high blood pressure medicine. High cholesteral pills etc. This decision to have WLS is for ME no other reason. I have assured them of this and for now they are going along with me but I see and hear the suspicion they are feeling. I will just have to wait and gain their trust once again. Because I am going through with this!

Hello Everyone! Newbie Here
It's a work-in-progress, a journey to a new way of life. I am willing to go to the classes, read the books, talk to people who have had it done. The whole nine yards. I am not expecting things to happen overnight. Took me years to get where I am right now and its going to take time to lose all the weight, bad habits and wrong way of thinking. But I look forward to a brighter future, healthier lifestyle and living longer, so its well worth the process!

Do You Find That Some People Find It Odd That You Would Do This So Late In Life?
Dear Cinders, Sorry to hear about your loss, I have been there. I lost my husband to cancer in 2008 and I am just getting used to being by myself and decided its now or never. I want to feel good about myself and healthy for my kids and grandsons. We are on a journey to a better life, we must congratulate each other for being brave and making a good decision. Cheers to us!

Need Help, Crew!
I commend you for being brave and confronting yourself and admitting your problem. Your half way to solving your little problem. I haven't had the surgery but your story confirms that you have to commit and stay on a structured diet forever! Nothing can stop the weight from coming back if your heart isn't in it and yours sounds like your in it to win it!

Please Help Me, I Think I'm The Only One That Has Failed This Surgery
I haven't had very many meetings, this is all new to me but when I do get sleeved, I am following my Doctors orders religiously. All will work out when you go with the program and not against it. This is a lifestyle change, there is no turning back and falling back into bad eating habits. Do yourself a favor and don't be so hard on yourself, your not a failure, your just listening to old habits. Turn your back on the inner voice that is telling you to eat. Use the force, lol! Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.

"wls Is Not What God Intended..."
I believe God wants us all to live a long and healthy life, the bible says "a good man should live to 100 yrs old." As long as a heart believes that what we are doing to get this long and healthy life we are living on God's earth in a "positive way." Everyone is different, some can eat and never gain but there are those of us who just "look" at food and its on our hips instantly. We diet, we exercise till we are blue in the face with no luck. That's where Gastric Bypass Surgery helps us. I choose "Life" and nothing nor anyone can change my mind....

I am 58 yrs old and I am doing it because I want to be healthy and live longer. I am a diabetic, and weigh 289 lbs and just tired of lugging all this lard around. I have dieted my entire life and nothing helps for long. I think maybe I should have done this a long time ago....
