I am new to this forum and not really acquainted with the folks here. But from what I have seen, there are many successful people that you can gain valuable advice from. I went to your profile and read back and read through your posts. From a purely objective perspective I didn't read anything but honest responses. Support can take many forms. I would never be offended if someone suggested taking up a problem I was having with my doctor. From what I read you haven't been banded long and believe me, you will have your ups and downs. That's the way life is. You are now in possession of a valuable tool to assist you in your journey. Plus, you found this website which is another asset.

Stacy, that is great! Everyone I know who has done the Zumba class says it is great. Sweat is a good thing There is a church nearby that offers the class. Maybe I should check it out. I have heard of the 30 day shred but can't recall exactly what it involves. Seems like it was pretty hard core from what little I remember about it. Thanks for the encouragement. Keep us up to date with your efforts. Good luck.

Got my walk in today and I was clipping right along. Walked about 2 3/4 miles and then went to costco and Walmart so stick a fork in me, I'm Done! Need to ride my bike today because it helps work the range of motion of my knee but not sure that will happen. I am ready for some cooler weather. It was 70 this morning when I walked but no breeze and 91% humidity.

I've found this Forum to be honest & helpful. But there is a new generation coming along that is being raised on praise motivation. (My grandchildren, for an example.) They get a good grade in school or etc. stars, etc.. . little ones color a picture it goes up on the refrigerator with praise, etc. Probably that works too. . . . But when they grow up I just hope their boss or supervisor is up to the task. I say to use a little bit of both. . . . but what does an old Grandma know?

I would just like to be able to post my daily (or weekly) exercise just for encouragement and accountability. I will be 63 next week. My goal is to do something cardio-wise 45 minutes a day 4-5 x week. For me that will mean walking or bicycling. My band is fine but my butt is a little slow getting back in the groove. I did walk 2 1/2 miles today and it did include some hills. At this point in time I'm not interested in how fast or how far but rather doing something on a regular basis. With the cooler weather coming I will be doing some hiking in the woods. I applaud all of you who are already fit or on your way there with utilizing your band and moving your bodies. Thanks!

Got in a 2.25 mile walk this morning with some good hills. Geez, I felt like it was farther than that but I did it. Thinking about reporting back here was my inspiration to get up and do it!

That's great, Sunnyside! I had a good morning workout as well. Upping my game. Convinced my exercise partner as well so I have that support in place. Just finished a blog detailing my five-week plan for myself. Yikes! I know I can do it, though -- just need that commitment to myself and my health to be foremost. Have a great day!

Go to your profile. Click "Edit Profile" on the right hand side. Then click "Signature" on the left. It then says something about Tickers on that screen.
Hope that helps.

Hello everyone!
Until I hit puberty, I was as skinny as a rail. Once I did hit it though, I gained weight and kept it on. I guess i was never really "fat" even though I was called fat by classmates and the like, but I've always been bigger than I wanted to be. My mother passed away after a brief battle with cancer last year, and that sent me into a really bad funk where I gained a lot of weight. My wife and I also welcomed our first child near the end of 2012. It was certainly time for a change.
I started this journey at 6'1, 349 pounds. I lost 10 pounds leading up to the surgery, and have lost another 20 since my surgery, which was at the end of June this year. I am currently at 319 pounds and heading in the right direction. I look forward to interacting with you all and sharing the experience together!

You can always start over. Support is definitely the key to sustaining your success. You may consider going once a month to the support group that is an hour a fifteen minutes away. If you make that commitment it might help you realize how committed you are to the new start.
You could also start your own support group in your area. There is a website called Meetup.com that is really helpful in starting new groups or finding weight loss groups in your area. Good luck!

You are on your way! Look for a thread by Sunnyside who has a thread going for encouragement and accountability. Congratulations on your retirement -- great to opt out of a lifestyle that wasn't good for you. Here's to showing up for the kind of life you WANT. A healthy one!
PS I wrote a blog today for myself as a way to keep track of my goals, etc. That might work for you, too. A kind of on-line journal of challenges and successes. Best wishes!

I just visited Atlanta for the first time this summer. What a beautiful place, but I had a really hard time with the humidity. Our climate is very dry so it was a big shock. I will be sure to check back and offer some encouragement whenever I can!

That is awesome! No excuses, just making the nececessary adjustments. I can't imagine that cold of weather. I live in in north Georgia so I'm in the south and it gets cold enough here. Keep up the good work and I will take a word of encouragement anytime
